will this make my car bang hard?
[Question]
who have this set up, or one similar? 2 punch hx2 10", rockford fosgate power t1500-1bd punch amp, a 1fared cap, my alternator is 135 amp is this enough power to make my car bang hard? i have a 2008 impala ss what else do i need?

uhhhh...yeahhh. The blasting cap will put some pound in yer sound. Especially rockin out with RF. Just make sure you got the wires to handle it, cuz if not, they'll burn out pretty quick.
I have a 2000 watt hitron amp, and 2 12" fosgate P3's. also have an optimum battery. It hits very hard. Harder then my kicker L7s. and i didn't think that could happen! I also drive an impala. 2004.
1st off the capacitor... completely unessecary.
and 2nd off
Rockfords subs suck they are cheap chinese makes that really dont power handle like they should
rockford does amps right.... thats abt it.
God these answers are retarded
#1 your L7's were in a shitty box because L7's are louder than Fi BL series as proven in DB competetions.
and burning your wires? any 2 gauge kit can handel that power no problem LMFAO
Oh and big kitty how will that cap put some power in his sound?
A capacitor is simply there to smooth out the voltage... it does not add power it smooths the transisition. if you dont have the power already... the capacitor isnt going to help at all.
It will not help him in any sense.
The thing is, people get confused in the real purpose of a cap. It is not used to cure or prevent dimming lights nor will it change the way the system sounds (both misconceptions).
To undertsand the purpose you need to understand how they work.
A cap does it's best to keep the voltage at a certain level, but if the voltage changes so will the cap voltage. The cap just makes the change smoother. The diming light syndrome isn't a voltage issue but rather a current (amperage) drop. The voltage simply follows what the current does. A cap does not help this situation at all. A cap doesn't provide more power nor does it try to correct it.
A cap is perfect for a noisy voltage line or if the car has fast, erratic voltage spikes/drops. This is why caps are used in AC to DC power supplies as they are used to smooth out the DC ripple for a more smooth DC output.
The ONLY cure for dimming lights is a more hefty amperage source, a bigger alternator or at the very least the Big 3 (for better current flow) - that is to replace (or add to) the power wire between the battery and alternator, the ground from the battery to the chassis and the ground strap from the engine/tranny to the chassis.
The REAL powerplant of the car is the alternator. The ONLY purpose of the battery is to start the car and run the accessories with the engine off, nothing else.
1 farad is = to 100 Amps You should have your cap on there I don't know where the other people get there info maybe they talk to puff the magic dragon to or just take way to many rides on his uhh back;) From your Info you've listed It should work good and loud, if you want the ground to shake Up grade to 12's or 15's. The only way I would really upgrade that system is to put a 1.5 farad or ferret cap on there. The cap basically is a bank for your battery/ alternator. The alternator is putting power in the battery for everything in your car to run, the cap pulls or skims some off the top so the amp doesn't drain your battery to fast and keep your alternator running full tilt, which will burn one up fast. The bigger the cap the more chance the alternator has to rest, and ergo the longer it should last. I hope some one certified answering your question has helped more then a teenie bopper
i have one 12 HX2 in a ported box in the back of my F150 and it sounded pretty nice! yes ur alnertator will be fine. if u have them in a ported box the yes they will bang. i have 2 12inch P3 in my yukion and they bang pretty hard so rockford makes good subswoofer and amp!

If you have 2 subs with different rms and peak wattage can you hook them both up and not blow the lower one?
[Question]
even if your amp is hooked up and has higher watage to power the bigger one. they are 1000 rms, 3000 peak. and the other one is 600 rms, 2000 peak.
[All Answers]
Can you wire them both up? - Yes
Can you wire them both up to the same amp without blowing them? - Yes..as long as its low.
For best results, and for the safety of your subwoofers, its best to run them on seperate amplifiers. Also, try matching the ohms for the best sound.
Its all about balance. Your amp looks at it like one speaker or one resistance. Depending on how you wire them it will see a single 2,4,6,8 or whatever ohm resistance. The power will be distributed equally between the drivers. Say you have a two 4 ohm woofers rated at 500 rms.You wire them in parallel to get a final resistance of 2 ohms at one channel. You also have an amplifier rated at 1000 watts rms at 2 ohms at one channel. Each woofer in this system would only get 500 watts. If you replaced one of the woofers with a 400 watt unit (same resistance) both will still receive 500 watts.
I'm assuming this is a one channel amp. If it is a two channel then the woofers will still receive the same amount of power. Peak power for a woofer is almost never achieved. Those numbers are more for show. IMHO i would just get a pair of matching subs.
Hope this helps.
To little information. What is the impedance of the subs? Are they DVC or SVC? What amp are you using or what are the specs of the amp?
You can typically hook up two subs with no problems but there are a lot of issues other then the power handling. The impedance is a big deal because it will determine if the subs both get the same amount of power. Current will take the path of least resistance so if one sub has a lower impedance then another it means that it will get more power then the other sub.
You have to know that the RMS rating is just a power handling rating. It just means that you can safely power the sub with up to 600w RMS or 1000w RMS. If you give both subs 600w RMS then they will both be fine.
Hooking up two different subs is almost always a bad idea. It will lead to cancellation and just overall bad sound. There are too many problems you will encounter when trying to hook up two seperate subs. Not to mention that both subs will need different size enclosures to sound good.
All in all, just hook up one sub. You may have a slightly louder setup but at the loss to sound quality. It will be a much better setup in the end.
Good Luck!!!
Yes.
Better question will it sound good?
Nope not at all

Brand new system bass keeps cutting in and out?
[Question]
I recently had 2 10" JBL subs installed with a 800W AMP, when i have the volume up too high my bass cuts out, if i turn the volume down and back up again it will give me bass for about 30 seconds and then cut out again. What can i do to fix this?
[All Answers]
turn down the gain on the amp
Dude it sounds like your maxing out your amp. Or you may have a bad fuse. And also check your ground and connections to the Amp.
a few options
voltage loss
gain too high and amp is going into protect
bad ground/connections
Make sure your ohm load is within the amp's acceptable range. Are your subs 4 ohm? 8 ohm? Dual voice coil? Depending on how they are hooked up, series, parallel, you could have too low of an impedance (ohms) on the amp which would cause it to cut out/overheat. Also make sure your ground is as short of a run as possible and very well attached to the chassis.

I want to put some speakers in my truck's dash. What type should I use? 2 5x7s or 2 4x10s?
[Question]
ether way the dash will be modified to fit but that's no problem
[All Answers]
I would go with 5.25 or 6.5, if you can make them fit. They would sound better then a 5x7 and a 4x10 is just junk. What are you working on?
If you've got options, round speakers have much better sound quality than oval ones. 4x10's are terrible speakers, just going to a store and listening to them should be plenty to turn you away from them. 5x7's are much better but I'd go for 6.5 if you can fit 'em in.
By the way, you're prepared for a tough job right? Running the wires and cutting the holes is tough work with the dash in the truck.
These guys basically covered it. If your not opposed to do a little modification to your dash then get the biggest round speaker you can get in there. Or some 8 inch midbass woofers and a pair of tweeters =] ha If you don't want to cut holes though i would go with a good pair of 5x7's.

How can I tell if a amp wiring kit is true 0 gauge?
[Question]
I was looking at this amp wiring and I was told that some kits are not true 0 gauge. heres the kit. http://www.caraudiodeals.com/audiopipe-pk3000px-p-100.html. need a thicker wire for my car and I do not know if it is good quality or anything.
[All Answers]
they sell wire gauge tools at hardware stores
The only way is to go for a good make!!! The gauge is nothing to do with the thickness of the wire, but the amount of current that can flow through it and the resistance!!
You really dont need 0/1 gauge unless your split charging or setting up a rockford sound off car :D if you aint gonig batt and alternator. i would go for a 2! 0 gauge is like 200 amps upwards!
the link isn't working. you must have a crazy system to go with a 0 gauge setup
