If your car does not have an ipod connection, can you buy one?
[Question]
sorry, I'm a complete technophobe, I have an 06 Seat Leon, the original owner did not get mp3 connection with it, so can I buy something that would play my ipod through my car speakers. thanks
I have a radio and CD player only, no tapes
[All Answers]
You can buy your own CD-player that has a iPod connection port built in. I don't think Seat themselves offered it as an option though.
Hope this helps.
You can buy something called an FM connecter. You plug it into, in most cases, your ciggarette lighter, I think. And it pinpoints unused stations; which then lets you listen to your iPod on the static-y stations. One end plugs into your dash, and one into your iPod.
You can probably get these at Best Buy, Radio Shack, or any other store of that nature.
Yes, an FM transmitter is the way to go.
Here are some in Argos:
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500001501&langId=-1&searchTerms=fm+transmitter&Submit=GO+%3E
Or if you wanted to just buy a cheap one to see how it works, try:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-FM-Transmitter-for-iPhone-3G-iPod-Touch-Nano-iTrip_W0QQitemZ400014477211QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CE_MP3Access_RL?hash=item400014477211&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1690%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1308
(I bought one of these to play my laptop sound through my home stereo, without wires all over the place).
There is one that plugs into your cig lighter at walmart and all you have to do is tune your radio to like 107.7 or something an it will play your ipod through your radio. It runs about $50.
Have you got a tape player or cd player? My sisters car has a tape player and she has this little tape with a wire connected to it. You put the tape into the tape player, the little wire fits into your headphone place and voila! Music!
If you have a CD player, I think you get one that fits into your cigarette lighter! Works the same way!
sure u can, the new pionner head unit coem with a ipod plug in but its retail about 1,200 $ , its a flip out touch screen it also being a whoel buch of other stuff lik msn direc bluetooth ect. but that is if u want to spand that money , and yes there a piece u cna buy to hok up ur ipod to ur head unit it wont cost as much.
you need an FM modulator these are cheap on ebay and work well i use one it plugs into the ipod and transmits a signal to the radio on fm frequency just tune your radio to the set fm channel and away you go

What kind of speakers should I get?
[Question]
I drive a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited (5.9) and want better speakers with a better bass response. What ones should I get and, how big? I don't want to put a sub in the jeep but I still want a good and clear bass sound that won't break the bank.

u should get some 12's
Bose or Alpine. Just nothing that rattles the dashboard or the windows, or even worse - the windows of the car next to you in traffic.
Sony erricson
Will you Hear any music over the sound of the engine in a 98 Cherokee!!?
Jensons, I agree
Alpine has a good line that wont break you pockets
Id suggest the Type R but the type E & S is good aswell

Estimate on New Car CD Player + Speakers?
[Question]
Hello. Well, the title pretty much says it all. I need to know what the cost will be for installation, the CD Player, and 2 new speakers. Nothing fancy. $150 is my limit. So, $$$? And where should I go? I've heard that BestBuy will install it for free, but the closest one to me is like 90 minutes away...There is a Wal-Mart...will they do it for free? Thx!

??? how much
Honestly for 150 dollars you wont get much. A new head unit is usually around 100 to 200 dollars and then speakers will be between 50 to 100 per pair. You might get lucky somewhere but the odds are bad. And then you need to have someone install them unless youre doing it yourself.
ok well do you have the stuff to be installed already? because i new stereo deck will cost anywhere from like 100-300. then if your talking about subwoofers then they can run about 120-alot for 2 of them. best buy should install your stuff for free as long as you buy the stuff from them. they charge you for the wires they use though to install it. cost like 5 bucks. i used to work there
ummm
well looks like your going to walmart and picking up some crappy sony product.
Walmart doesn't install cd players and if they did I don't think I'd trust em. Best buy is a great place to get it done. I've had them put in 2 cd players in different cars. If you go with the bare basics you could probably get it done for $120
If we're talking Walmart & Best Buy as places within 90 mins - I would almost recommend tackling the project yourself and ordering stuff online.
$150 isn't much to work with - $100 for a decent deck and $50 for a so-so pair of speakers and you've pretty much blown your entire budget. Realistically, you wouldn't have any money to get anything installed anyways.
Replacing a head unit is relatively easy - speaker replacement depending on the car can be even easier. If you're really cost conscience, you can find out how to do the swaps yourself online. I would recommend saving up a little more money and buying a wiring harness for your new head unit. Just makes for an easier & cleaner install.
I don't know what size speakers your car has, but this speaker is a pretty popular size. So, it's a bit of a guess. These will put you at a hair under $150 with tax.

I'd look in the phone book & try to find somewhere closer than 90 minutes away & give a few places a call. I can guarantee they can come up with something you'd like. Plus, you can save 3 hours worth of gas money to put towards something a little better.

300 Watt Amp Good for 2 12'S?
[Question]
I am looking online and I found Two 12 Inch Subs, with a 300 watt amp, in good working order. Is that a good deal? Is 300 watts enough to power them?
[All Answers]
No, I have a 400 watt for my single 10". You will need at least 800 for good sound or bass output.
no you will need a bigger amp to power those two twelves i had a 300 watt amp running to a kicker cvr 10 and it barely powered it
That depends on the rms wattage of the subs and amps, they may be a good match.
But not knowing what brand and model of each is it's hard to say.
For example rockford fosgate makes 12'' subs that will only handle 150 watts rms.
So if you have two of them and the amp is 300 watts rms that would be a good match.
1 12"requires at least 400 rms each i could tell you more if i had more information on the subwoofers. mainly match up the rms rating of the subwoofers
i would go with a 1000 watt just to be safe and it will hit pretty hard
lol.. No u need a way better amp, depending on wat subs u lookin at i woudl go with teh dimond audio for 2 subs if u want a good sound

does a 2 ohm sub hit harder then a 4 ohm sub?
[Question]
[All Answers]
In a properly designed system there is no difference. The higher the ohm rating of a speaker, the more current can flow through it (and the more power it gets -- roughly double); however, not all amps can take a 2 ohm load (though a lot can in mono). If you hook 2 x 2ohm subs in series you get a 4 ohm load, which is a typical load for the industry.
So if you have only one sub, a 2 ohm sub should get more power, provided your amp can handle it. Don't try to hook two up in parallel unless you know for fact that your amp can handle a 1 ohm load.
If you listen to Dwayne you'll save money.
Not necessarily.
An amplifier will usually produce more power into a 2-ohm sub than it will with a 4-ohm sub. If you have a 4-ohm, and switch to a 2-ohm, then the 2-ohm sub might be louder because it's getting more power. Not all amplifiers are stable with a 2-ohm load, however.
A 2-ohm sub getting 100 watts won't hit any harder than a 4-ohm sub getting 100 watts (assuming they're otherwise identical). If the power is the same, the sound output will be the same.
many people will give u diff. answer to that Q. it take a lot more power to push a 4ohm sub than a 2 ohm subs. example u have a 600w amp mono channel ( 1 chan ) and u have 2 same subs but one is a 4ohm and the other is a 2ohm. when u hook ur amp up to the 4ohm it will prob. be pushing 380-410w to that subs, now if u hook up the 2 ohm sub then u will prob. be pushing 500-590w to that subs casue the 2ohm takes less watts to push the sub. so if u want something louder i believe that the 2ohm will be a lil bit louder than the 4ohm but just by hearing those 2 u wont be able to tell the difference in loudness. that's how close they are!
ya it sucks more power from the amp
