Rockfords are crap.
They are made in china, have a cheap sound, and dont power handel like they really should.
Your going to need to post a pricerange buddy :-) beacause theres ALOT of subs that hit harder and you can spend up to a few thousand on a sub.
EDIT: Any prefab box + 2 subs + amp deal is going to be crap.... Addint the fact that hes trying TO UPGRADE not DOWNGRADE
DD Audio is alright....
RD audio is wayyy better. + if desired i can get you deals on RD
Email me if you want more information... pborcich@hotmail.com
EDIT:
with that pricerange im going to suggest someting along the lines of an alpine type R
EDIT:
kicker sucks the are loud but have a cheap cone with a cheap sound to it.... their sound quality is terrible
Ok thizz you dont have enough cash for RD audio but i would like you to email or IM me so i can ask a few questions and suggest the correct subwoofer.
Right now, look into MTX. They have a great special which is 2 12" subs in a prefabricated box, with a -i believe 800 watt amp- included for about $500. I'm pretty sure on that. Other than that if you want hard hitting. DIGITAL DESIGNS ALL THE WAY! www.ddaudio.com That shit hits so hard, it BLOWS away competition. I got 4 8" DD's and i KILLED 4 12" kickers. On top of that i'm actually under powering my subs. And i'm running half the power DD tells me too. One thing, they LOVE big boxes so i hope you have room. Another Hard hitting in small areas is Image Dynamics. Their subs bang with clarity. I heard 2 12" subs running on 2000 watts of power and I was amazed. So look into it. Go to a car dealership and ask what they prefer. They will have they're best stuff displayed the most. Any questions E-mail me at mugzy91215@yahoo.com
kicker is good
but bro do not get Xplod, they suck vagina juice. i would get kicker if i were u man, there not too expensive n totally worth the money
dont get kicker. they have terrible quality
get fi bl or fi q
your best bet would be a kicker i had 2 mtx 12's and then i got two kicker 15's and they are the best speaker i ave ever heard they hit a hole lot hrder then the mtx's and what ever u do dont get fockord fosgate the dont sound good and are a waist of money
Bets bang for the buck is easily, Boston.

*UPDATED* Installed Capacitor, now subs barely hit at all. Any idea's, answers, theories?
[Question]
I have 2 - 15" 1300Watt Subs, 1 - 1000 Watt 2-Channel Amp, 160Amp Alternator, and a nice standard battery. I just got a .5 Farad Capacitor from a buddy for free who never used it. I charged it, hooked it up, the digital display is showing charging voltage, and the amp is on.
My problem is that the subs only seem to be hitting 15-20% as hard as they used to when they were just hooked straight to the vehicle. I mean when you crank the volume you can tell they're on . . . but they definitely don't hit at all.
Is it possible the Cap is too small for my system and is limiting the power getting to the Amp? Larger Cap?
Can anyone please throw me an idea or theory about this? I spent a lot of time wiring it in and mounting it nicely, i'd just be pissed if all of that work went to nothing. And yes I know are many people out there that say Caps are a waste of money and do nothing, and to just throw it out since I have such a large Alternator anyways. I'm just interested in an answer to my question. Thanks for your time!
I wired the CAP in series at first and the amp wasn't getting enough power to barely turn on. Then I searched online for how to install one and everyone seemed to have their own opinion but the most popular one was the following which is how I have it setup now:
[+Battery-] - - - - Ground
|
[Fuse]
|
[+CAP-] - - - - - - Ground
|
[+AMP-] - - - - - - Ground
Very crude picture sorry, I have BAT+ going to the CAP+ and then also a cable going from CAP+ to AMP+. So 2 connections at the (+) Term of the CAP. Then the AMP and CAP both have seperate grounds. All wiring is 4 Gauge. Hope this isn't too confusing, Thanks again for your time, I'm dying to get this figured out.

The cap is to small man
make sure that the wire from the cap+ to amp+ is short. Grounding seperately also helps. Check your gains on the amp.
First guess wold be the cap is too small. 1 farad is rated for 1000 watts. So technically your .5 farad cap is only good up to 500 watts.
Having a smaller cap like that wouldn't hurt it. Heck, there are capacitors that are smaller than that inside the amp. The big one you have on the outside of the amp does the same thing as the ones inside.
If the cap is bad, it would hurt because it might be just draining your electrical system. You say he hasn't used it, well maybe he had it somewhere and for too long and it's bad now. The digital display is just a voltmeter, it isn't showing how much current is being stored. I'd just take it out if I were you. Or get a new one to put in.
And caps are not a waste of money when used in your situation-a HO alt which supplies the current for the cap to store.

2000Watt amp
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=20667
Now ur gonna wanna get tweeters for the treble in the music(30$). For ur subs, find a dual ported box that will fit in ur vehicle a good one is about 150$ then ur gonna wanna buy an amp kit from any car audio store and while ur there buy a nice radio and then you should be set but i PERFER u have it professionally installed sence youve never done it before cuz u can relly screw up ur car so the instalation should be aroud 175-200$ u might end up spending a lil more than a a G but it will be worth it and you will be herd! i spent over 3G's on my system and you can hear my car 3 blocks away.
Hope this helps if not just go to a car audio store and theyll help but there products are pricy!!!
I would got with some JL audio subs, a pioneer head unit, and some memphis 6 1/2 speakers. a good amp might be a kicker amp. If you go to a local car audio store and tell them you have a 1000 dollars to spend they will usually cut you some deals and give their best input
i would get a kicker 12 and a Kicker 1000 watt am and maybe a Compositor it would be cheap and the are very good speakers i have had 2 kicker 15's with 2 kicker class d amp for the past 2 years and haven't had any problems with them and only spent 1200 dollar on everything
Alpine 12in typeR dual 4ohm $150
Alpine 600w amp $230
Pioneer head unit $250 (as long as it has HP filter pick one you like)
Single 12'' ported box about 1.7 cf $150 max
4gauge amp kit $70
Install $150 (find someone or if your local i do it for cheap)

i need a new battery for my 97 honda civic, the stock is 12volt. can a 24volt go on my car without burning up?
[Question]
[All Answers]
NO
You are kidding of course.
ALL Of your electronic devices are based on a 12v system. If you put a 24 v on line you will fry almost all of them.
Your fans might survive for a while before they also burned but you would have a heck of a breeze.
The only way to use a 24 v system would be to step it back down to a 12.. and the obvious question to that idea is WHY?

my amp turns on but wont give power to the subs?
[Question]
the amp is a hifonics bxi 1606d. It turns on but wont give power to the subs. I already checked and its not the fuses...any help please!!!!!!!
[All Answers]
make sure your ground wire is secure,,, and your mainline fuse on your power wire by your battery is not blown hope i could help
If your amp turns on and is not in protect mode then check that you RCA cables are connected and secured. Also check that your speaker wires are connected correctly. Also check settings on your head unit to make sure the sub out is on. Also check that your gain settings are correct.
Ok well
#1 Hifonics amplifiers use the REM wire to power the lights and turn on the amplifier. That is a 12 volt wire which easily powers the LED lights... alot of am companies are like this and use the REM to power lights.
You amp as far as i know verywell could be blown ive encountered the same problem with hifonics in the past
Other than that check your wires if they are all properly connected
you probably blew a transistor because your gain wasnt set correctly and hifonics amps are cheap and will blow without question even if the gain is slightly too high
