Why do you car audio nerds think the dual 12'' Sony Xplod subs suck?
[Question]
and sony audio in general?
please get into detail. don't just say ''cuz they do''
Thanks.

I dont know dude if you want better stuff get kicker, mtx, or infinity
not to be a smarty pants, but they just do...
get into car audio and listen to all different kinds of setups and subwoofers and you will see that sony products are low brow, also do you honestly see anything sony in competition?
sure they may satisfy someone on a very tight budget, and if someone has only heard sony xplods from walmart, then you will be pleased, but if you heard then next to kicker or alpine or any other brands, then you will see why.
ok first of there door speakers are very poorly built and i dont like they way they sound not as crisp and pure as i like them to be.
Headunit- well i havent seen the ones they got now but when i was getting my headunit there didnt have good sound quiality specs and didnt offer the features i wanted plus i have never really liked the layout of these headunits.
Amps ok they have some good amps you have to look at the specs to see which ones are good Sparky has one of there good amps so i will give them props for those amps but there other Xplod amps have terriable THD ratings and they dont put out what they claims so thats why they suck.
Subs are i dont like them cause there not as good sound quiality that i like in my sub. Plus no one really know how to build there setup right but beleive me if you lookin for SPL and you get a good amp for them and build the box right and get that all worked out good then yeah that can be good for SPL but as far as a good SQL sub its not it so i dont like them.
Their subs and speakers aren't that good but their amps and head units are pretty good

Stereo will not work in my Jeep?
[Question]
A lot of times when I crank up my Jeep Wrangler, and I start driving down the road, the radio cuts off and goes to a blank screen. You can't see the time either. At a stop sign, I have to cut off my car and crank it up again in order for me to see the time and hear the radio again. It does this whenever it wants to, but not all the time. I just recently had a new battery installed several months ago, but was wondering what the problem was with the radio and clock and how much it would be to get it fixed?
[All Answers]
sounds like the headunit connections the constant power sounds loose
Check all wire connections, fuses.Make sure there are no wires shorting out.Maybe run a wire directly from battery to radio.
just get a new stereo is the best way :)
Yeah some wires sound loose. Take it out and make sure theyre all connected. Personally it sounds like the ground conection is loose, check that first

Kicker L5 vs L7? HELP?
[Question]
Ok, So I have a ZX1500.1 pushing 1 cvx 12 and I think its about time for a subwoofer upgrade. Would it be better to buy 2 L5s or L7s? I know the rms rating is perfectly matched with the l5s, I don't need to hear any of that. I want to know if Perfectly powered l5s would sound better than slightly underpowered L7. By the way, The subs im looking for are 15"s
[All Answers]
the 2 l7's will sound much better because the l7's clarity is much more than the l5's.. they both bump about the same, but the l7's sound a LOT more clear while doing so...
kickers are always best a little over powered they can take a beating so my advice is fully upgrade but if you cant afford it then go for the l5 there no where as loud as the l7s but will sound great
you can run l7s and it will be good but plan to upgrade your amp kicker amps tend to die on ya
good luck
i would rather get the l7. those are great subs
actually if you get 2 12" L7's you will be powering them perfectly. The rms of the L7's is 750watts each. the L5 12's are only 600 each so the L7's would be better by far.

alpine vs re audio??????
[Question]
(1) RE AUDIO 12" MX SERIES WOOFERS 1500RMS
or
(6) 10" alpine type r
which one would be louder?.. i know..its like a duhhhhhhh question..6 subs vs 1 subs...but honestly i heard people said that the re audio is a effing beast..especally the mx model.
on a 2500.1 kicker zx amp..
[All Answers]
honestly this is from personal experience the re subs are beast but i haven't heard a MX model. and the alpine type r is a really shitty sub i got one as a replacement for my diamond audio D6 and the type r blew with in 1 day of being on my amp i was giving it bout 600 watts of power well with in its claimed range. so i would most definitely go with the Re dude.
first off, dont listen to the guy up there ^
alpine makes a great type r i have 2 12" type r's and there rms value is 500W
so clearly he was overpowering them.
type r is more of an SQ sub, so i would go with the mx
the type r's would be ALOT louder spl wise and but in the long run would probably cost more and take up a bit more space. i would try to get 2 of the RE MX subs....but 15's if you really want to get loud. it would still be a close battle tho vs. 6 r's. ALOT will also depend on your enclosures.

Building a sealed sub box for my 2 alpine type r 15s?
[Question]
OK so im trying to figure out what size to build my sub box for my new subs. my maximum dimensions are 22" tall by 24" deep by 42" wide. Online it tells me to build the sealed box to 1.75 - 2.5 ft^3. However i dont know if this is including the room the subs take up inside the box or not.
Could anyone help me out with this.
[All Answers]
go ported for 15s
Alpine recommends 1.625 cubic foot of internal volume for a sealed enclosure. That is without the sub displacement. With the sub displacement it is 1.75 cubic foot.
You can read this in the manual. The "gross internal volume" includes all displacment. The "net internal volume" doesn't include any displacement from the sub.
Alpine gives a range of 1.3 cubic foot to 2.5 cubic foot for a sealed enclosure. That is "gross" internal volume. Whenever they say that they mean that the sub displacment is included in that measurement.
You have plenty of space for a ported enclosure. I would highly recommend that instead of a sealed enclosure. You will get more output from a ported enclosure. If it is built properly you can get more output and maintain good overall sound quality from your subs.
Good Luck!!!
i dont know alot on building enclosures, but i know a bit about type r's. GO PORTED!!! either learn how to design and build ported enclosures or go to a local shop and have one built for around $200. It's definitely worth it to get a ported box for type rs. esp. 15's.
