Can you hook up a amp/sub to a stock 2000 Cavalier radio?
[Question]
My friend has a 2000 Cavalier, and was wondering if it is possible to hook up a powered amp to it (does it have rca hookups and all the other things)?
It is the stock radio with a cd player.
[All Answers]
No, you'd have to get a head unit.
The stock head unit does not have RCA's however they have a converter to hook amps up to stock headunits. Its called an L.O.C (line out converter) it converts the stock speaker wires into RCA's.
I don't know how, but a guy I work with has 3 12's and a 2400w amp hooked up to the stock cd player in a 98 explorer, so it is possible....sorry I don't have details about how to though.
Yes you can. It does NOT have RCAs or the blue remote turn on lead. You must either have amplifiers that have high level inputs (speaker outputs from factory deck) or purchase line out converters that turn speaker level outputs from the factory head unit into RCA level outputs. Also, use the ignition or switched power lead for the remote amplifier turn on source.

Are Kicker amps the best amps out there?
[Question]
Or are there other amps out there that work just as well if not better for a cheaper price?
[All Answers]
yeah you dont have to go 3-400 to get a good one prob like 1-200 make sure you get the right one for your system though
They're good amps, but they are overpriced. You can get better for the money, or just as good for cheaper.
Audioque for best budget amps ;)
well the best amp out on the market i would say are US amps. they are tied in with RE audio they sell subs and they are the best.
are alipnes the same as kickers, if not, those are great.

What System should I get for my Car?
[Question]
I have a 2008 chevy malibu and was wondering if someone with more experience could help me out.
Would two twelves sound good? or two 15's sound better?
if so what brand would be the best.
[All Answers]
2 12 would give you an all round sound. And I'm suggesting Kicker products. Sub,enclosure, amp and amp kit.
This setup will give you a great bang for your buck.$600 total.
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=19553 800rms at 2ohm with this amp http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=19319.Personally I have the entry level Kicker Comp 12's in a ported box with a ZX300.1 mono amp and it safitys my needs. I paid close to $600 buck for the subs and amp and I wish I could of got this setup I'm suggesting for you a the same price in early 07'.
Now all you need now would be a amp kit and RCA cables if you have a aftermarket headunit. Here is a amp kit for a good price. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3933_Kicker+PK4.html
I would go with 2 kick 15's loudness and bridge on 1 channel for bass. you can go with round or square(round is cheaper) but use a vented box cuz they're going to be in the trunk they need an advantage
15's really arent that much better
might as well go for the 12's
go for pb's (power bass), hifonics zues subs, alpine's are also good
for the money id say power bass are the best
they have a clean bass sound and a realtively cheap
umm. i would put two 12" RE audio subs. RE are really good. they are not well known because they are only sold in certain places. i have two 10" re series and they are really good almost better than JL audio search on you tube and type in re subwoofers and do some reasearch but they are really good. go too reaudio.com

Is this ok, 2600RMS to 2 15" Kickers L7?
[Question]
I have an amp that is rated like such....
# Max Power @ 1 Ohm: 2600W x 1
# Max Power @ 2 Ohm: 1800W x 1
# RMS Power @ 2 Ohm: 1200W x 1
# Max Power @ 4 Ohm: 1400W x 1
# RMS Power @ 4 Ohm: 750W x 1
I have 2 15" L7's 4ohm each....
If i wire them down to 1 ohm, will it be powered too much? Will it blow my subs?
Any help is appreciated.
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=21010
This amp...
And I know they are good because I have used them in the past (My opinion)
At the 2nd poster, the AMP is 1 OHM STABLE
[All Answers]
what amp are you using the rms power at 1 ohm would be helpful here
Most likely. The Ohms load will blow your speakers. Unless your amp specifies a one Ohms loan connection you can't bridge to 1 Ohm. These amps are very rare because of how unstable 1 Ohms is.
Anyone I have come in contact with have always suggested to never go to one Ohms because of blowing your speakers.
You and bridge them safely at 2 Ohm, however, I don't think you amp will last more than a 1/2 hour of constant playing (amp's not strong enough).
However, if I was going to get an amp and care about sound quality, Kenwood and Urban amps are good choices.
This system is fine, I have no idea where the other guys got there info but they're....never mind! anyway ur amp is 1 ohm stable at 1ch and ur subs are dual 4 ohm so you have 2 wiring options 1 ohm or 4 ohms. i'd go with 1 ohm for deep bass but if you rather have your subs last a little longer go with 4 ohm(euther way they will last a while....lot more then 1/2 hr). as far as power goes your fine. the subs rms is 1000 ea and ur amps rms is more than 1200 at 2 ohm so its around 1500 at 1 ohm. so no you wont blow your subs, unless you turn everything all the way up.
