will my subs blow out my back window in my car?
[Question]
i have two 12" subs in my car. 800 rms each will they blow out my back window?
[All Answers]
No they shouldnt i have 2 12s in my car and they are 1100 rms so you should be alright
is the car older with deterieration around the windows? if not then they will not blow out the windows.
It shouldn't however i have seen this happen before. If it is extremely cold outside don't turn them up to loud. The glass has very little flex when it is this cold.
That is next to impossible to do.
You need atleast 2 18s in a small car to do that

I rest my case.
nope. it would take more sound pressure than has ever been created by a subwoofer in a car to blow out a window. If you have enough power (way more than 800 watts on two 12's) you can make the window flex, but bass doesn't really crack windows, unless they are already cracked.
nevermind all of that, you'll be fine, you have nothing to worry about.
I have 2 L7 15's in my car. I was driving down the street in heavy traffic at about 45 MPH with the bass cranked up super high. Well guess what. The back window popped out and shattered all over the guys car behind me. Dont crank your bass up high unless you super glue the sides of your windows. K.
Absolutley NOT
800 watts? No way this little power will blow glass...I have over 8000 and still have all my windows.

wats the best system u can come up ?
[Question]
im an installer i would go with Dymond aurdio all out or rockford subs with audio pipe amps but compare toughts.
[All Answers]
i would go jl audio all the way if we were talking 2 subs max i would go JL Audio ZR650-Csi speakers, JL Audio 450/4v2 4 channel amp, JL Audio 1000/1v2 x2 d class 1000wt amp, JL Audio 13w7 x2, JL Audio CL441dsp Equalizer, any 6 farad cap, i would do big 3 upgrade, upgrade to HO alternator. upgrade all wires to high gauge and keep at least 2 conductor on speaker wire, get battery isolator kit and put deep cycle or gell cell in trunk and dynomatt my car like crazy (most layers in the trunk) then invest in a car alarm so it doesn't get stolen
It really depends on what you want.
If you want an SQ system I'd go with IDMAX or Boston Acoustics (depends on how much you want to spend)
SPL I'd go FI or Kicker (again how much you want to spend)
Three 15" kicker cvx with a hifonics amp.
POUNDS
If I had no budget:
Focal No. 7 Utopia Speakers.
2 JL W6V2 woofers.
All Mcintosh amps.
tons of Damplifier Pro (that stuffs expensive)
Rainbow, Morel, DLS also make some good speakers.
This is fun
any alpine head unit and speakers.... and some kicker L7's
You can install stereo's...But can't spell.
Diamond Audio?

Car audio sounds terrible. What should I upgrade first?
[Question]
I have a basic aftermarket (Kenwood KDC-205 CD) Receiver. used to go for $85.00 a few years ago...
And my car speakers are (VR3, 3 way speakers) that I bought at walmart that go for $20.00 each.
and as you can guess, my car audio sucks. The volume gets loud but the quality drops like crazy, then the volume on certain instruments wave in and out so I have to turn it down constantly.
I have around $600 and I can't buy anything nice, but I don't really know where to start. New stereo? New speakers? Price to spend on both?
[All Answers]
You should be able to get both if you are good at dealing. Go to a car audio store and find some stuff you like that adds up to about $650. Talk to the salesman and offer him $600 for the whole package most places will go for that. I have gotten a $1300 system for $800 before. Went to one store made him an offer and he didn't bite left for an hour came back and told him I went to the other audio place in town and they offered me the same system for $900. Told him to beat their offer or I would go to the other place. Lucky for me he bit. I know it might be wrong to lie to the poor guy but it worked out for me!
you can get a decent sounding system easily for under 600 bucks.
you can get a new headunit for around 100 bucks.
then you can get some good quality speakers for around 50-100 bucks a pair.
so thats 300 dollars(rough estimate) for a new headunit, and 4 new speakers which will make s huge difference in your sound quality.
If you really want to make that music clearer and louder you can add a 4 channel amp to it for around another 200 bucks, and then the extra 100 or so you have left over should be able to get you all of that installed if you don't know how to do it yourself.
Or if you want more bass, you can get a subwoofer, and a sub amp instead of the 4 channel amp for around 300 to get you to that 600 dollars you want to spend.
I would spend around $300 on a good head unit. Eclipse, Pioneer and Alpine are going to be the best options for the $300 range. Remember that the signal starts at the head unit. Head units make dramatic differences in how stereos sound whether people say they do or not. I spent $187 on a pair of new Alpine Type X REF speakers from http://techronics.com/ including S&H. I am really happy with these speakers for the price. They blow away the $300 Focal speakers I had. What you have to realize is that any decent speaker needs to be powered by an amplifier. The head unit (unless it's a deadhead) will usually send around 18 watts a channel. Those ALpine speakers for example require 75 watts each. If you don't run an amp to them they will distort before getting loud and not sound near as good as they should. I would say $200-$300 for the receiver, around $200 for speakers, and save up a little more money and spend around $200-$300 for a good amplifier. There are so many choices for amps just like speakers. But that is a different question entirely.
Hoped this helped.
try some higher quality speakers the head unit (receiver) should be fine

Will 6x9 speakers fit a 6x8 enclosure?
[Question]
I know the question seems rather obvious, but to my knowledge 6x8 speakers are not that common and this is the stock size in my Cougar. But I do know that sometimes there is a bit of room to work with. So, does anyone know if a normal 6x9 just may fit?
Interesting thought about the grinding. I'd think that I could just slowly grind the enclosure itself to fit a 6x9. Thanks

it's like you're asking if a size 32 jeans will fit on your size 44 waist! hello?! go get a 6x9 enclosure to fit that 6x8!
well if your good with a drill and a stone grinder Im sure you could cut it if it don't
1" thats only half an inch on each side if the 6x8 fitted perfectly.
Its pretty close. If I were in your shoes I would give it a try.
Just don't do a crappy job. if you do have to cut take your time and do it good.
Goodluck
uhh no.... you're just gonna have to change the enclosure. or find some 6x8 speakers. they are fit in there pretty good so they don't jiggle around and get messed up from the vibrations. You don't have an extra inch to work with. sorry dude.
No,they wont fit.I would not reccomend cutting or drilling anything either!! There are plenty of 6x8,and 5x7 speakers out now, especialy made to fit in Ford/Mercury/Lincoln and Mazda vehicles!! Its the stock size in my Mustang, and I have a nice set of Polk's in there! Most 5X7's were made to fit in 6X8 openings also...
It'll be too wide. But the way speakers are made, it will still sit in the hole, you'll just have to drill new holes to use.
But the easiest route to go would be to just get some 6x8 speakers.
