Does the Size of the subwoofer cause a different bass tone?
[Question]
their are songs that have different type of bass tones. when it comes to the subwoofer size are each subwoofer made to play different types of bass tones??
is there a different between a 10 inch & 15 inch????
-In the song "white Girl" my subs don't sound in the beggining but sound pretty good when it comes to the highs
[All Answers]
have you tried adjusting your settings on your amp? or your deck?
The only difference when it comes to the sub size is how much louder the bass will sound...you will also need a good amp to make the bass sound good and not just pounding. If your subs aren't hitting good in the beginning but hitting good on the highs then check the settings on your amp and within you stereo/cd player...you may have the lows set too low or the highs set too high.
yeah just adjust your amplifier or deck settings
the size of the sub can change the tone a little. however the box shape and design set the hertz frequency in which the subs produce low notes clearly, with force, and punch.. People have yet to understand the enclosure is everything .when it comes to what hurts the base notes really come in...
Yes the diameter of the sub will make the bass sound different. The 10's would sound clearer and the 12's would sound a lil deeper and trying to hold the long bass. Thats when you need to adjust your amp or need a bigger one or need a capacitor to supply the power you need
The size will effect the total output of the system. More cone area more output you will have. Other then that size doesn't play much of a role in the sound, rather there are other parameters that create the different sound of a sub.
There are many reasons why you are experiencing your sub sounding good at some frequencies and not at others. Some possibilites would be amp/decks settings, the sub you are using, an very imporantly the enclosure you are using. Some subs will perform better at certain frequencies then others. The enclosure is also important in deciding whether your sub plays the lows really well or is better at playing higher frequencies.
The biggest factor in the sound of your sub besides the enclosure is the T/S parameters of the sub. These are basically the mechanical and electrical properties of your sub. Thing such as magnet strength and electrical parameters greatly influence how your sub sounds. Since all subs are going to have different parameters all subs will sound differently.
Good Luck!!!
MDC is correct for the most part, you do need to check your settings on your amp and deck. The box plays a major role in how your bas will sound.
Edgar are you freaking serious about this "The 10's would sound clearer and the 12's would sound a lil deeper and trying to hold the long bass. Thats when you need to adjust your amp or need a bigger one or need a capacitor to supply the power you need"
Before you go giving advice on something that you evidently know nothing about, learn about the things that your talking about. A cap is not going to magically give you more power into your electrical system. Just where do you think it is going to get the power from? The electricity ferries or something? All a cap is going to do is stiffen you voltage current, nothing more, will not stop your lights from dimming either. Wake up people, this is not rocket science here.
From the looks of it, i would guess you bought 2 10" subwoofers, with a prefab ported box. The prefab box is your problem. Most of them are tuned wayyy to high for music. White girl has relatively low notes (i'd say around 30ish), so the high tuning on your box would not help.

You can make a 21" subwoofer sound tighter than an 8" subwoofer if you know what you're doing. It really all depends on the box you build.

What will under powering my subs do?
[Question]
Sub---

Amp---http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12209_Hifonics+BXi+608.html
What will happen if i under power my subs by 100 watts each?
Would it be worth to just get this amp---

you get what you pay for , spend a little more and buy name brand ..
underpowering them by 100 just makes them quiter than they could be... its not bad by any means
Under powering sub does nothing to your subs. You can actually get a lanzar 2000 watts rms on ebay for around that price and I have heard they are perty good amps.
nothing would happen to them you just wont get the full potential from the subs. But yet again sum amps like fostgate might go on protect if the subs drowned the amps power or if its over powering them witch sucks.
Keep in mind that your subs, when wired together, will be a 2-ohm load (assuming you're using two subs).
That means the first amp you linked will produce 300 watts RMS, not 600 watts. Each sub will get 150 watts.
That said, using an amp with less than the subs' rated power won't harm anything. They just won't play quite as loudly as if you had the full power available.

what is better 2 10 inch l7 or 1 12 inch l7?
[Question]
i want to buy either two 10 inch kicker L7 or one 12 inch L7 for my 2001 mustang. which one do you think will sound louder in a ported box, and what type of amp should i get?
[All Answers]
which ever one you think will make the girls go crazy..
what sound do you want ? I had a single sealed 15 in my mustang it shook the mirror off . 10's will hit hard , go bigger for more vibrating bass
louder 2 subs push more air than 1 so 2 10s
but L7s suck
easiest reason why:
when you throw a rock in a calm pond you get the ripple effect
those riples are circular.... now please tell me how you make a square ripple beacuse thats what your attempting to do... L7s have 0 sound quality they are just loud...
If your interested in learning more and learning about some REAL subwoofers please shoot me an email :-)
Patrick you are a fricken IDIOT. It's about pushing air, and making sound waves. the square kicker pushes a hell of a lot more air than a circle, being the same size. and i would say they push the same kind of sound wave. not a f***n square sound wave, there is no such thing you retard. you have no idea what you are talking about. I have 2 15" L7s and will blow whatever you have outtta the waterrr .

What do I need for amp?
[Question]
I have a Kenwood 9104D amp powering 2 kenwood 12's. My lights keep dimming every time I turn the bass up too much. The amp takes up 55 amperes of power, and the alternator is a 145 amp stock alternator. Do I need to the the "big 3" or will a capacitor do anything to fix my problem?
Thanks in Advance:)
[All Answers]
a capacitor helps out most people with this problem. If you do decide to get a cap you will need a 2 farad.
I would do the "big 3". A capacitor doesn't really solve the problem
Edgar z is a total idiot. A capcitor is not going to stop your lights from dimming at all, or ever. A cap only stiffens your voltage to your audio system, it is not even connected to your lighting on your car; and if it is you hooked it up wrong. Seriously though, all it is going to do is stiffen the voltage to your sounds is all, nothing more. You should look into doing the big 3, and getting a better battery. A Optima yellow top will do the trick.
Why a cap will not help the light dimming situation:
Right now your electrical system in your car is having problems keeping up with the demand for electricity. Putting a cap into the mix is only putting another strain into your electrical system, just another device to charge up. The amount of electrical energy in most caps is not even significant enough to even warrent having a cap, except for the sole reason they were developed in the first place, to STIFFEN the voltage to your audio system. Anyone that tries to tell you a cap is going to help in this situation should have a bullet between their eyes, because stupidity should be outlawed.
Big 3!!!!!
No on the capacitor, it wont help at all with the dimming problem.

How do I install my new capacitor for my amp?
[Question]
I have a 5 farad tsunami cap. and the instructions weren't to helpful. It has four spots for wires. 2 of them say Input (-) & (+) and then there are 2 more that says Output (-) & (+).
Another question I have is about the charging. It came with a light buld to charge it with. since my battery is hard to get to can I use the connections that run up under my hood, they run from the battery and are meant to hook up jumper cables real quick if you need to get jumped.
This should be a simple question for some of you and you'll get an easy 10 points!
[All Answers]
well...the input is for the power from the battery to the capacitor and output is for whatever you want to connect it too. i suppose you could connect it to the jumper cable connection.
Remember if you hook it to the jumper connection, when you do need to jump your car, be carefull that you do not bump that connection with the cables, or there goes your cap. So yes you can, just be careful in the future in that area.
Their are 2 inputs, 1 is to go to the battery (which is your +) and the other one is to be grounded (-). Then the outputs to your amps.
Here's how you install a capacitor...
You take some C4, then you put it close to the capacitor. Stand back. Then let the switch hit on that C4.
It should be installed by then =)
pos from battery to one of the pos on cap then from the other pos on cap to your amp.then take one of the neg on cap and ground to car chasie, try to make the neg to ground chasie as short as possible.use o to 4 gauge wire
