how can i make a Speaker terminal cup for my subwoofer box?
[Question]
im making this whole box from scratch and i have no money to work with. tips?
[All Answers]
it will cost you more in supplies like wood and metal to make your own terminals than it will to buy them. look online for some terminals, they are like 3-10 bucks. Plus you want good insulated terminals so you don't short anything out.
metal screws... and nut wings...
Not pretty, but will work...
go to radio shack and spend $2 on a speaker terminal cup
since you're making it from scratch, maybe run the wires straight through a drilled hole in the box & use silicon to seal it airtight. Competitors do this so there's no loss of power at the terminals. idk, just thought i'd throw that out there.
you can jus run the wires straight out the back of the box jus drill a small hole force the wires thru then seal it up with whatever your using to seal the rest of the box with.

what subs would be better to get?
[Question]
im in a toss up on what to get..
1 15" Kicker L7 in a ported box - sub about 250-300$ 1000 watts rms
2 Kicker CVX subs in a ported box - subs 280$ a pair 750 rms watts a peice, 1500 rms a pair
2 12" Kicker l5 subs (prolly cant afford 2 12" l7s) - subs about 280$ a pair 600 rms a peice, 1200 a pair
personally im leaning on 2 12" kicker CVX subs or 1 15" kicker l7.
i want whats gonna have BEST sound quality while being able to pound my chest apart at the same time.
how does kicker have such "bad" quality then? what exactly do you have?
[All Answers]
I have a 15'' Kicker l7 in a ported box and its in my 93 suburban which is a huge car and you know what it makes my vision blurred because of how hard it hits so I recommend the Kicker 15'' l7
id get the 12s unless u mind saving up and getting the other 15..
also 12s r easier to blow so id try to save up and get that other 15 and if u cant just get the 12s
Ok, first things first. If you want them to hit hard, get 15's. If you want SOUND QUALITY, get 12's. 15's are a joke unless your paying 6 grand for a speaker. Kickers are a joke too if you ask me. Why don't you buy some real subs, and not circuit city brand.
like i sed in your oother question. kicker has very BAD quality
If you are leaning on the 2 cvx's I'd say get it. CVX's are like circle L7s. Go for it. Power them properly and you wont be disappointed.
Kicker subs are made for SPL (Sound Pressure) So they don't exactly gear their subs towards SQ (Sound Quality)
I personally have 2 Boston Acoustic G5s and they sound gorgeous and get nice and loud. Look into it.

Hooking up subwoofers to stock radio?
[Question]
Looking to hook up my subs to my stock radio and was just wondering which line-out adapter would I use to hook them up to the rear speakers.

It depends on your amp. If your amp is a 4- or 5-channel, then you can. Or get another mono-sub amp. Audiobahn makes AWESOME subs. I have a Performance Teknique, which is pretty good for the money (around $50).
If your amp is a 4-channel and you have your inside speakers hooked to it, then you have to put the inside speakers to channels 1 & 2. Then hook the sub to channels 3 & 4 (usually a positive to the channel 3 positive and the negative to the channel 4 negative, or vise versa). Then hook it to your sub. I recommend a sub with a dual voice coil. This will give you better speaker performance. Wiring to the sub depends on your preference and the guide that comes with it will tell you how to wire it more specifially.
If you have a 5-channel, then the inside speakers will stay on channels 1,2,3 & 4 and the sub will have it's own channel 5.
The best way is to get a second mono-sub amp. These are built specifically for the type of output a subwoofer demands. Also, consider a capacitor if you are getting a high powered sub. This will keep it from draining your charging system and making your lights dim when the sub hits. It stores electricity like a battery so it pulls from there instead of from the charging system of your vehicle.
It doesn't really matter because sub should be mono-blocked anyways which means you don't need to worry about chanels it's all going to be the same sound. Subwoofers don't really have a left and right. (not a good setup for a car anways) either converter would work but I like the looks of the second one better, it has a little better look to it. And really it's not like either one is very expensive. You want the best quality you can get because setting up a system in this way is already a weaker set-up in terms of overall signal quality. Don't skimp on the converter, you want the best signal you can get for your amp to work properly
i would go with the second one thats how i have my subs hooked up in my car it does ok but with an aftermarket radio you get alot more out of it

How do I install a battery in my trunk for a stereo system?
[Question]
I am trying to install a battery for my system in my trunk, how do I do this? What will I need?
[All Answers]
Most car stereos run off the same battery that runs all the other car systems. What kind of stereo are you trying to put in your car that it would need an extra battery?
i know this isn't what you want to hear but adding a second battery isn't a good idea at all. all your going to do is make the alternator work harder and decrease its live span. if you think you need more power try adding a capacitor or upgrading your alternator to a high output first.
use heavy duty metal straps like in this pic. you don't want that thing moving around at all
http://images.drom.ru/album_photos/11/10422/97165.jpg
use no lighter than 2 gauge cable running from your engine (alternator or battery) to the trunk. And ~1.5ft of 2 gauge ground cable to connect to the car chassis.
remember to get the terminals for the extra battery to connect to your amp. These will allow you to connect ring terminals:
http://www.isplc2006.org/b2b/pics/Battery_Terminal.jpg
these would allow the wire to connect without ring terminals
https://www.addison-electronique.com/catalog/images/030105.jpg
It's a good idea to have a separate battery if you're listening to it with your engine off. Use a battery isolator too (essentially a high current relay) so your main battery won't get drained. You won't want a regular car battery, use a kinetic or optima yellow top. A regular one won't last very long after getting drained many times.

[Question]
im looking for a english sight to buy a car speaker set , in the set it needs a sub for the bass, tweeters or good quality speakers so it sounds clear , a box in witch to put the speakers and sub in (it does'nt matter to much about the box but it would help) and it needs the right amp and the right wires for it please help, i really need to find one , oh also preferably for less than 200£

Great site, has EVERYTHING you will ever need involving sound. Lots of good articles for advice and tips as well.
You won't fine a "kit" that has all of that. Best is to buy everything separately, make your own box, and run your own cables. Here's what you will need:
Subwoofers
Sub amp
Speakers (either coax or component)
Amp wiring kit (4 gauge will be good)
Speaker cable
Subwoofer box
look on sonicelectronix.com or hookedontronics.com and buy everything you need your going to have to get it all seperate tho.
