Question about car stereo...?
[Question]
I just bought a head unit online, and will try to replace it on my honda civic 00'. I don't think the head unit will come with the harness and the antenna, it is a kenwood KD208 head unit. Where can I find the harness that will fit this particular head unit? Thanks.

Kenwoods are pretty common. I found mine at a place that sold head units and sterios. Find a place in your area and just call. Otherwise I'd say check ebay too!

Obviously a certain car stereo store. Try Best Buy or Circuit City. If you live in Ohio, we ahve a store called B's car stereo which handles all of that stuff.
you should be able to buy that at pretty much any store that sells car audio stuff. try best buy, they're usually really good about having off the wall stuff like that. or you could order it online
try best buy, my friend got his there i'm pretty sure.... or he got it a circuit city (they are pretty much the same store). I bought mine off crutchfield.com
Best buy is you best bet<<<<<<<<<
will your gonna need harness and a dash kit. the harness for your car will be metra 70-1721 and the dash kit will be metra 99-7898. the head unit should come with a harness for that kenwood in the box, just connect the same color with the car harness (70-1721). you don't need an antenna adapter. you'll find all these parts at circuit city and plus all car accessories are 40% off. so it'll be cheap
If the head unit is new it will come with the harness that plugs into the radio. What you will need is a harness that plugs into the car so you can wire the radios harness to it without having to cut your factory wires and try to figure out what wire is what. Search for a Metra harness part# 70-1721. That's what your car takes. It is color coded the same as aftermarket radios so even a grade schooler could wire it together. You will also need a dash mounting kit. Metra's part# for that is 99-7896 or 99-7898 unless you bought a Double DIN sized head unit then you would need kit# 99-7801. You don't need any type of antenna adapter, the factory antenna will plug right into the Kenwood radio. Instructions for taking the dash apart and mounting the kit will be included in the kit.
www.crutchfield.com has harnesses, adapters, and instructions about how to install the stereo. You might have to chat to someone to get the stuff you need because I don't think its on the website.

WHAT ARE OHMS ?????????
[Question]
If my two subs are wired as 4 ohms, how do i wire them as 2 ohms? what are ohms and what do they do by the way?
[All Answers]
an Ohm is an electrical unit of resistance
An ohm measures electrical resistance. Resistance determines the amount of voltage(or wattage) necessary to make your appliance work.
I'm sorry i can't help you more, but I have no idea what a sub is.
Ohms are a measurement of resistance to a current flow.
I volt applied across a 1 Ohm load results in a 1 amp current.
With speakers, it's referred to as impedance because the audio signal is an AC voltage.
When you hook the 4 Ohm speakers up in parallel ( + to + and - to - ) the load is 2 Ohms or half. If you hook them up in series ( + to - and - to + ) the load is 8 Ohms or doubled.
Ohms are a measure of electrical resistance. The higher the number, the more resistance the speaker has, and the more power it takes to make the speaker work.
In other words, an 8 ohm home stereo speaker has a higher resistance than a 4 ohm car speaker, which means that it takes more power to make the home speaker produce sound than it does a car speaker. Conversely, if you plug a car speaker rated at 4 ohms into a home stereo system that is only supposed to push speakers at 8 ohms, you could cause some damage to your stereo. The reason is that amplifiers are usually tuned in to push a certain amount of resistance, and if the resistance gets too low, if can cause problems for the amplifier.
Wiring two 4 ohm speakers together and then plugging them into an amp does not change the resistance of the speaker, but it does change the load that is put on the car stereo or amp. If you put two 4 ohm speakers into one speaker hookup spot on your amp, you make the amp drop down to 2 ohms of resistance, which may make your amp angry, heat up, and/or shut down.
If your amp is rated to push 2 ohms, then it should still work fine. Some amps do fine at more than one ohm rating, and some do not. Its best to make sure your amp is rated to handle 2 ohms before you wire your speakers parallel and then plug them into your amp.
What subs are you using? What are the specs on it? That can help us tell you how to wire your subs.
The ohm rating of a sub is the impedance of the subs. Basically why this is important is because how you wire your subs will determine what load is on your amp. This determines how much power your amp will deliver.
You may not be able to wire to 2 ohms depending on your subs.

i'm stilll tryin 2 understand that to . for what i learned is that 4 ohm there is less watts involved and helps ur amp to last longer. at 2 ohm ur amp is sendin more watts .
Since everyone else has explained ohms...
How you load an amp determines the amount of power out.
There is a trade off though, the lower the impedance (ohms) the more power is pushed as well as higher distortion and more heat is generated. The excessive heat will shorten the life of the amp.
For best overall performance, it's far better to get a higher powered amp and load it with 4 ohms than a lower powered amp and force it to push more power with a lower impedance (2 or less ohms) load.
The closer you get to 0 ohms, the more of a dead short the load is to the amp.

car audio question. need help now! please?
[Question]
i just got a mercedes e320. it came with a bose system. but i want to make it really loud, while not popping any speakers. what do i buy? an amp? please explain what to do to make the audio great, detailed.
[All Answers]
Making a system really loud without popping speakers isn't difficult. Buying a high quality amplifier will add power to make the sound clean and clear at higher volume levels. The more watts, the louder and cleaner (or more detailed) the sound will be. Here is a link to the amp I would chose. You can't go wrong with Kenwood Excelon if you want clean and detailed sound.
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113X600F/Kenwood-Excelon-X600F.html?tp=115
The Bose system may be difficult to rewire with an amp because you would have to rewire all of your speakers to the amp, so another alternative is to buy an amplified subwoofer, and then use a crossover or some bass blockers to free up your already existing speakers from reproducing the bass. The less bass your normal speakers have to produce, the louder and cleaner they can play because they aren't hampered with bass output.
Something else to consider is that Bose (although it is a name commonly known for quality) may not be the best speaker choice if you want to improve your volume levels. If you really want to play loud music, you might consider replacing the Bose speakers with some high quality speakers that can handle a lot of watts and have a very high sensitivity rating (usually notated in decibels like "92 dB"). The higher the sensitivity rating, the less power is required to get the speakers to play loud.

you want loud?
if you have the budget go for the MTX jackhammer.
and some couple of 2.0farad caps for it. and some pairs of amps. maybe 6 amps and 3 caps.
