Why is it that when my husband is driving and looking for an address, he turns down the volume of the radio?
[Question]
[All Answers]
Less of a distraction
I do the same thing
its a concentration thing i guess
loud music effects sight i guess?
I do that, too. Most normal people do.
And it's actually a very interesting question in that it relates to why it's extraordinarily dangerous to talk on the phone while driving.
I can't speak for your husband, but I do the same thing so I can focus. With music distracting me, I'm unable to clear my mind and concentrate on tasks at hand -- like finding an address.
less distraction..
More focus
Writing as a Husband myself...happily married this Labor Day Weekend for 33 years, I have the actual answer for you.
He turns down the radio, as any husband should, so that he can hear you give directions better.
i heard on the radio (npr) that when you are driving there are something like 35 pieces of information your brain has to process every second. i would imagine turning down the radio just helps him stay focused on finding the address. i do the same thing.
so he can hear the gf/wife tell him how to drive, if he kept the music up the gf/wife would get mad about that and blame the music if yall passed the address, so he turns it down so if yall do pass the address he can blame the gf/wife and not the music
I do the same just so i can concentrate, but mottthedog lmao u need to clean off your nose lol, great answer
My cousin does this! She also does it when we're in heavy traffic, or in the middle of the city (Glasgow city centre, one-way systems only, crazy drivers everywhere) also, no one in the car is allowed to talk at times like this, makes for a fun car journey!
My guess: an inability to multi-task!

How to play iPod through car speakers?
[Question]
Is there a way to play an iPod through my 2005 Subaru Outback without an auxiliary input or a cassette tape adapter?
[All Answers]
Yep theres a thing you can buy at walmart or other electronic stores...or simply off ebay...its called a itrip...you plug it into yer ipod...it has settings on it and you set the itrip to a channel..then you match the channel on yer radio...try picking a channel that is scratchy so no other music is coming in...
You can use an FM transmitter. They sell them at WalMart with the Ipod accessories.
yes you can. This is what you do. If you have one of those wires that is double sided. You put one of them in the aux and the other in your ipod. then you play your ipod and click the aux button.
Harmon Kardon makes a drive and play device where you can hook up your ipod to your factory stereo
you might have to get it installed for you but its not to expensive3 at best buy!

Whats the name of the first Car stereo called?
[Question]
neeed fast
[All Answers]
eight track?
actually there was a 4 track before the 8 track. The 4 track had an opening in the bottom of the tape where the roller would come through to move the tape. Even before the 4 track I remember another type that was more like a disk/platter. Much like the old record players. I don't think it caught on or was widely used.
The first stereo tape player was from Muntz, but I know there were record players before that may have been in stereo. Yes record players in cars.
8 track is all I can think of

I want to dynamat my trunk lid.which product is the best and not so exspensive?
[Question]
i am looking at these product==edead, fatmat, rattle trap,r-blox,and dynamate. Are all these the same?
[All Answers]
dynamate is the best to me but the cheapest would be fatmat on ebay.
dynamate the best. if you want to be cheap you can get the stuff from home depot but its not as good and wont last
I would have to say second skin is the best though, the owner is very cool and can work with you and can answer all your question and needs, but the other brands you have are good like ed, fatmat and dynamate.

How Can I Stop My JL Audio Subwoofer From Vibrating In My FJ Cruiser ?
[Question]
Hey guys, I just got a new JL 12 inch subwoofer in my FJ and I have had many problems with it vibrating in the back. I believe this is because they made most of the parts of the car with some shitty plastic material. Could someone please help me with this pain in the ass.
[All Answers]
Yeah its a good possibility its your car. Plus thats a pretty serious subwoofer which puts out a lot of vibrations.
The one thing I would suggest is to put in sound deadening all of the car. Look into stuff called dynamat. But go for the high-end dynamat because I heard the regular stuff can melt and tar will drip from the car if its too hot.
Basically this stuff reduces vibrations which is your problem. The only thing is this stuff can be expensive to buy and install since you need to remove a lot of your door panels and other areas.
You won't like my answer. Not only are you ruining your hearing, and believe me you will think back some time very soon at how you could have saved it, but you are likely not doing the car any good either. Because of the resonant frequencies of the subwoofer you'll never get it to stop making all that plastic rattle unless you turn it way down, (or take it out). You can try painstakingly selectively removing each trim part to isolate the source of the vibration but most likely it is a collective issue including the sheet metal as well. I know that you'll blow me off as being preachy but I can tell you that it is no fun being virtually deaf at 30.
Heres how you make it stop....order some Dynomat...and have it installed in yer trunk....
