Are car CD faceplate Universal?
[Question]
When I purchased my vehicle, it had an aftermarket CD player. It doesn't have the Aux. connection and I wanted to buy one with. Is it possible to just purchase a new face with Aux. for it or do I have to replace the whole unit?
thanks guys
Right now I have the sony Xplode unit and faceplate but no AUX.
[All Answers]
The face plate is specific to the make and model of the CD player.
If you want AUX input you will need to replace the whole unit.
You'll have to replace the whole unit. The functionality probably isn't in the unit but even if it happens to be, new faces are expensive enough you'd be better off with a new head unit.
No, You need a whole new unit.
That aux port is wired in to the head units connection, and there's no connection on the head unit if the face plate doesn't have one.
You Need a New Deck Man..
First Before you go an buy a new radio . Whit kind do you have now? Brand wise an model? And yes There are a few faces that can interchange but only with the same brand
u have 2 replace the unit sony has good units with aux if u running an amp and system i would go with something else

How Can i get into this type of job?
[Question]
How can I get into car customizing like have you seen street cars or fast and furiuos I know they have college for that, but do you have any tips for it??
[All Answers]
find a shop that does that type of thing and go work for them.
auto body shop class. and you can get tranning through college.
Just like the first response, find a customizing shop and apply for a job. Be aware that with no experience you'll probably start with cleaning type tasks but show initiative and a desire to learn and you'll quickly move into a position to learn the job you want.
I was in the same boat as you when I wanted to try electronic jobs out. I turned out to work for an electronic shop for free first (about 2 months and I offered to do it). It is hard to do if you have no experience so that is why I offered free. And yes apply somewhere and try to see what happens. You will start with grunt jobs first but if you are meant for it, you will move up in position. If it is electronics your into go to MECP.com, it might be a guide for you. Best of luck.

Are there any car GPS navigators that don't require a monthly fee?
[Question]
[All Answers]
As far as I know most GPSs run for free but you can't get updated maps without paying. I have a Tom Tom One and haven't paid a cent since I bought it and it tells me where I need to go.
Sure! There are lots... Just look at reviews and product description... Should say if it does or not. Garmin have really nice ones that are free!
Do you mean like an in-dash or like a Garmin or Tom Tom?? I got a Tom Tom for Christmas and it costed like $150. I dont pay any monthly service fees at all. I also have a Garmin. I dont think GPS's charge a monthly fee, thats only like satellite radio.
Hope this helps.

Why is my car radio not working?
[Question]
I started to use an iPod - tape player plug-in in my car and shortly after that my radio would not turn on. I replaced the fuse and it worked for about a day, then it stopped again. I think that the tape player may be part of the problem but I have can not take it out. I have tried to replace the fuse several times since then, but it has not worked. What should I do?
It is the original car stereo. I don't want to buy anything new until i figure out the current problem.

is this a factory UNIT?
if it is dont even wast ur time, just go ahead and purchase an aftermarket deck, with an Aux, jack. that way yu can plug ur ipod in directly, instead of using that tape thing.
well the make sure ALL your fuses are okay. Sometimes when a car stereo blows, it may blow more than one fuse. If are your fuses are okay, then your unit might be dead. Another way to test it, if your savy enough, is to locate the Gnd, the 12v constant, and the accessory wire. If they cannot be located by measuring, try to find a wire color code. This site can help you with that: http://www.modifiedlife.com/car-stereo-wiring-diagrams-and-car-radio-wiring-diagrams/ . When found, try to measure if the wires actually give you voltage. If they do, there may be a fuse on the actual stereo. This is common with aftermarket systems and not so much with stock. Which means you will either have to find an aftermarket unit w/ a possible kit, antenna adapter and wiring harness. This can cause you to spend more than you would like to. In this cause, try to go to ebay or a junkyard and find your EXACT radio for cheap and replace it by simply plug out and plug in.
If your wires behind the radio DON'T give you voltage, there is another fuse blown somewhere. Or (in rare cases) the the plug behind the radio may have a loose connection OR a wire might have shorted too much and caused the wire to melt in turn making it not conductive.
These are your options. If you cannot do this yourself, have a friend in electronics try it out. If this cannot be done, be the victim and pay ther $$ to get it fixed or replaced by someone else either from you buying another radio (junkyard or ebay) or just buy something new.
This are your options and best of luck!

My subs have engine noise in them.?
[Question]
I have an engine whine in my 2 10' subs. What is the cause of this?
When the battery power is on they work fine but when the engine is turned on the volume has to be higher to drown out the engine noise coming through the subs.
Also when i turn the blinker on i can hear the click click from those.

When i go to subway my subs also have a engine noise in them.
You are not grounded properly. Move the ground cable from your amp to another location.
