I am looking for a car cd player that works well on bumpy roads....?
[Question]
I live in the country on gravel roads. I need one that would be able to function well while driving on them. If anyone has any suggestions i would be grateful. Thanks.
[All Answers]
talk to ur stereo dealer. they make cd players with 20 second delays and longer in them to assess the problems of bumpy roads. these delays allow the music to continue playing uninterrupted despite the bumpiness of the road.
Most Brand name higher model players will do the trick. Pioneer, sony alpine are all great brands.
Most of the major car audio brands will work in this kind of roads
I believe its called... iPod capable. Ha!
No, I live in Lebanon Ohio where President Bush actually told our mayor when he came for re-election to redo all our roads in his speech; so I hear you on the bumpy roads dilemma... I've had good luck with my Boss 640UI around town and I even drive a truck which has stiffer suspension than a car would have.
Look for any players that offer anti skip features.

subwoofer + amp question?
[Question]
im gonna get two of these:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11355_Kicker+Solo-Baric+L5+Series+08S12L54.html
theyre rated for 600 rms. I'll wire them up to run at 2 ohms. would this amp do a good job of pushing them?
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11553_Kicker+08ZX1000.1.html
I've heard that kicker underrates they're stuff so I know it says it only puts out 1000 rms, but would it do a good job with 2 of these l5s?
[All Answers]
Depends on what you wanna do.... If you want to shake the ground and just be loud; go with Kicker.
If you want your system to beat crisp and sound fantastic while beating the ground, go with JL Audio W7 V2's. <---- I made the switch and have loved every minute!
did you happen to notice that the speakers have two coils each at 4 ohms? if you hook both speakers with each coil in parallel you could end up with a only a 1 ohm load.
I would look for speakers with only one coil.
Nope. you can't wire 2 dvc 4 ohm subwoofers to a final load of 2 ohms.
you either get 1 ohm, 4 ohms, or 8 ohms.
so you need a mono amp that puts out around 1200 watts RMS at 1 ohm. or a 2 channel amp that puts out 600 watts per channel at 2 ohms. (you can hook up 1 dvc 4 ohm woofer to get a 2 ohm load. but not 2 of them)
If you want to use that kicker amp I suggest getting the 2 dvc 2 ohm version of that subwoofer. then you can run them at 2 ohms.
Do you relize you would be buying two 600rms subs for a combined RMS rating of 1200rms, but you amp only puts out 1000rms.
This means that you will be spending money on 200rms when you can't do anything with it... find a different amp that puts out closer to 1200rms or get diffent subs.
You will never be able to push those subs to the max with an amp that doesn't have around the same RMS rating.
With that amp you could only wire the subs up to a 4 ohm load. That means you would get about 500w RMS to the subs.
I would recommend looking at the Audique AQ1200D. It is a much cheaper amp then the Kicker but will produce the 1200w RMS that you need. It is a good quality amp as well.
http://www.audioque.com/aq/AQamps.htm
You would wire your subs up to that amp like this...
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard/2_4ohmDVC_1ohm.gif
If you have never heard of that amp or that brand simply google search them. If you look at reviews of that amp you will find nothing but good things written about it. It is a solid amp.
Good Luck!!!

2 jl audio 12"w6s or 2 12" kicker l7s with a jl 500/1 amp?
[Question]
i want to know if i should put two jl audio 12'w6s or 2 2008 12" kicker l7s with a jl 500/1 amp in a nissan maxima,,,,i manly want alot of bass
[All Answers]
what are the specs? thats the best way to make a comparison between 2 different subwoofers when you can't listen to them.
But if you want a lot of bass, you might want to consider a larger amp. a kicker L7 can handle over 500 watts by itself. so with 2 of them you will be really underpowering them.
Personaly i'm a BIG JL FAN. They hit and they do it very hard. But both would be a great choice . I had kickers and sold them to my friend for his blazer and got a great deal on a set of jl off ebay.
Kickers are somewhat over-rated. But besides that, for a trunk application you want something that hits hard, the JLs will hit much harder than the Kickers. With a 500 watt amp you will still get PLENTY of juice out of the two of them witht he 4ohm rating over Kicker's 2ohm.
Im a kicker fan but if your amp is JL, go with the JL's. JL's are great subs.
if i had to choose between those two subs.. id go with the jl w6.. they require less wattage and they are a perfect couple with the 500/1
.. but if you want the best spl and sql.. go with diamond audio

about how much does a car system cost?
[Question]
i want to get a system for my car but im not sure how much i should save up.. what are its ranges?
[All Answers]
depends on what you mean by "system"
a full system would be new speakers, stereo, amps, and subwoofers.
all of which would cost hundreds of dollars just for the components.
If you just want to add a subwoofer or 2 though you can do that for around 300 dollars getting decent brands off the internet. it'll be more if you buy retail. because you'll need a subwoofer, box, amp, and wiring.
Between $800-1200 thats for a complete system cd player 2 amps 4 speakers 2 bass speakers and instillation, if your able to go to downtown la your looking at a better deal.
Ranges depending on what you want:
-head unit (cd player, ipod input) anywhere from $150-1000+
wiring harness and mounts extra (sometimes free with purchase depending on where)
-subwoofer + amplifier
sub- cost per sub varies on make and size, expect to pay $100+ per sub
power for the sub is a mono amplifier - 200+
sub box - price varies, around 150+
wiring - $75
That's a basic setup, adding a subwoofer will dramatically increase the range of the music and allow the car speakers to focus on the high end sounds. So using the factory speakers for normal range sound and a sub for low end, around $500+ for the basic setup. You don't NEED a new head unit with subs, but they are typically more powerful and better sounding than factory and will add the inputs needed for sirius/ipod/etc and the outputs for subs and speakers.
However car audio is very customizable, you can replace the factory speakers with high end speakers, amplify them and it will add another 500+ to the total. Use dynamat to dampen the vehicle, get the high end products, all adds cost..
As stated, depends on how much system you want.
You can go to Walmart and buy almost everything you need for cheap, but thats what you get.
Or go to a shop and have everything installed. etc...

im new to car audio? i want a bangin sytem!?
[Question]
i have a ford ranger. single cab. i want to get a system that bumps! i want a sub, just one 12". so i need an amp (what size for a 12"?). i already have different speakers in it. (i just replaced the old ones with the ones i have now) how hard is it to wire an amp and sub? and where/how do i start off? my dad knows alot about stereo systems and im sure he could do it but he wont. im going for my lisence today for the 2nd time. he doesnt think i need a system cuz il look like a punk with it. but i want one. tips on hooking it all up? it has a brand new head unit.

get 1 12" L7 kicker sub idk bout amp.
12" kicker L7, 1000 watt Kicker mono amp, Amp wiring kit (comes with everything you need to wire amp), speaker wire. You need to run a power wire from your car battery to the amp. Youll have to find a hole under the dash that goes to under your hood, usually under the steering wheel above the gas pedal. youll need to run a ground wire from the amp to a bolt that is close to the amp connected to the chassis of the car. The bolt that hold the seat down is good. Run RCA's from the output of the head unit to the input of the amp. run a wire from the wire labeled "remote" on the back of the head unit to the screw between the ground and power screws on the amp. connect the positive and neg. sub wires to the amp. you now have a bangin system. I know these instructions arent the greatest but the amp kit should come with wiring instructions.
my advise is to create a member account on the12volt.com where real audio professionals can help you through every step of the way.... majority of people on yahoo answers dont know anything about car audio
Well first off you need to know how many watts your subs are and then from there you can get you amp.second to answer your second question it is not very hard to wire the sub and amp you just have to have patients. You start off by getting all the stuff you need exp. power wire for amp, remote wire for amp, a set of RCA wires,a ground wire then you need your sub and your amp you dont need to get a new headunit but i wouldnt run a system with out one because theres a good chance you can blow your speakers that way. But once you get all your stuff you have to take out you stock headunit to get to all your radio wiring. Then you need to run the RCA and remote wire to the headunit from your amp. then you can run you power wire witch you need to connect to the battery of your car. the for the ground wire all you need to do is find bare metal and screw it to it and connect the other end to your amp. ALSO if you get a new headunit you need a wire harness for it. They are very helpful and only cost like 8 dollars at walmart. But im running out of things to say so if you have any questions you can email me at mjz730@sbcglobal.net
