What do you think is the best car stereo to install?
[Question]
I am soon to get a used car, but I am unsure if its stereo will or not. However, I will replace the stereo regardless of its condition.
My question is: What is the best car stereo (brand or type) to get?
[All Answers]
There are many good ones. If it has a good sounding one, there is no need to replace it.
I have a friend that installs stereos in high dollar cars and he puts in Blaupunkt.
Like Bob said it all depends. There are many reputable brands out there that create quality products.
It also depends on what kind of stereo do you want. And also how big your radio slot size is in the car you're going to get.
My suggestion would be go here..
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/autoinfo/autoinfo.asp?sl=Y&vb=Y&lp=%2fg_300%2fCar-Receivers.html%3ftp%3d5684
Go to thats site, put in your cars information and they will show you all the stereos that will fit in your car and give you all the specifications about them.. And they have user reviews on their products.
The answer lies in that site, happy shopping.
Oh, and once you find one on there, you can prolly buy it on ebay for a lot lesser in price.
Depends on what you want to do with the headunit.
Power stock speakers...go with bargain brand
Power aftermarket speakers, any pioneer, alpine, blaupunkt, jvc, any of these will do that just fine
Power a system, look into one that has at least 3 rca outputs, so you can use an amp for front speakers, an amp for rear speakers and an amp for subwoofer
Power a competition system, then try to get one without alot of gizmos and internal power ( suggestions: McIntosh, Denon DCT-Z1, Eclipse 7200MKII, Clarion DRZ9255 ) the Clarion has 4 channel out so that you can connect the entire system with this head unit. Most competitors that consider this head unit are looking a the capability of running their entire front stage and a sub(s) and controlling them from the head unit.
I am not going to tell you which one is better, but beware of headunits that don't have internal power. You will need an amp for them.

Having car audio problems!?
[Question]
So my friends stereo wont work, he thinks its the stereo so he bought a new one and asked me to install it, his car is a 97 honda civic, i have the wiring diagram for the car, so when i hooked up the new radio, it still didn't work. I took it all apart and checked the power wires, there's 2, ones a constant power and the other one is only powered when the key is turned in the ignition, when the key is in ignition there is no voltage. long story short, could there be any other problem or is this the problem, just want to make sure before i go hunting for where the wire is broken, the radio is a JVC kd-g300.
Don't know everything ! the link u provided is a dead like for me any others?
im aware of that, the constant wire is for the memory, that one works its the ignition one for the power that seems to not be working
[All Answers]
Take a look at these two charts, may find something here to help, http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/HA-Wiring.pdf. It appears a change took place in '97.
As you know there should two feeds. I suggest that you take second feed from the fuse-box to the radio, The second feed is to turn on the radio and the first feed is for the radio's memory.
did you check for a blown fuse?
all you need is a $5 test light
for constant power just tao into a constantly hot 12v wire in the dash
for memory power tap into a 12v wire that is only hot when the key is turned (go to fuse box)
simple troubleshooting will tell you when you try another head unit and you still have the same issue, it is the wiring harness or more than likely, something else besides the head unit is the problem. I would pull the head unit, then go hunting with your voltage light pen and see if you can find the dead wire.

can we connect pen drive in AUX-IN slot in pioneer car cd player system?
[Question]
how to connect it? can u explain in detail pls.
[All Answers]
yup
As long as it fits it should work :)
Without knowing the specifics, like model number of the Pioneer CD Player, and the slot is a USB slot, then yes, you presumeably would be able to use your pen drive, or thumb drive, in that slot. that is what it is there for.
I would assume you are using MP3's or burned cd's only on the jump drive. If you plan on using Video, make sure that the Head Unit is capable of that.

Rockford Fostgate amp questions and speakers?
[Question]
Im going to run 2-12s in my chrysler 300. not sure what kind yet. thinking either punch or kicker. my question is should i get 1 rockford fostgate 1000 watt mono amp to run both 12s or 2 rockford fostgate 500 watt amps and hook one up to each 12?
[All Answers]
you can do either or theres no difference, just make sure if u do 1 1000 W that its duel channel
Either would work, but if you just do one dual channel amp it will be less to set up and it will be quite a bit cheaper to just buy one amp.
As for the subs i would suggest these.
These will hit harder than any subs you've heard.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Kicker-07DCVR122-Dual-12-Subwoofer-Enclosure_W0QQitemZ360167348014QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Subwoofers_Enclosures?hash=item53dba5972e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A1|66%3A2|39%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
And for an amp that would power them i would suggest any 2 channel 1600 watt amps.
Hope that helps, that system will shatter your windows and make your neighbors hate you :).
The question to ask here is, how many RMS Watt does the the subwoofer have. Let say that you opt for a Soundstream Tarantula subwoofer with 300W RMS operating power then you should buy a monoblock amplifier of the equivalent RMS Watt rating or the 2 channel amplifier of similar rating for example 1X600W RMS,2X300W RMS.

Can anyone help me with car audio?
[Question]
I have 2 12" Sony xplod subwoofers with 1200 watts. I don't know what size amp I need. I'm guessing I should use a dual channel amp, but please help me out
I have 2 12" Sony xplod subwoofers with 1200 watts each. Each one has 350 (RMS) and Single 4 ohm 6 layer voice coil. I just don't know what size amp I need. Please help me out
[All Answers]
To be on the safe side, so as not to damage your 1200 W speakers, choose a dual channel amp (or two single channel amps) with say 600 W per channel (half the power rating of the speakers). This is 600 W music power - about 150 W RMS (real power).
You will also need dual channel pre-amp with tone controls, etc.
well you never want too much in this case..so just go with a 1000 watt and have like best buy or somewhere adjust it for you.
I would go with a mono amplifier that is capable of 2ohm resistance. Meaning that if you wire the two 4ohm subs as one, then you will place a 2ohm load on the amp. Most amps are capable of this.
Take a look at amps that are capable of 600w @ 2ohm. You should be fine
