Does an automobile security system with in-car camera exist?
[Question]
My brother recently had his car broken into and someone attempted to steal his radio. This individual was clearly dumb beyond words because:
1. They were attempting to steal a radio worth less than $100
2. They failed at stealing said radio
They did however succeed at shattering his driver's side window. His car lacks a security system so I've started looking into one for him.
What I'd really like is a system that, when triggered, starts a camera(s) recording so that there is a possibility of catching the thief's face on video.
Does such a security system exist?
I'm contemplating making one of my own...but that'd take a lot of time and work to design. I'd rather just go out and buy one that I know has been tested and works already.
The actual name of the system would be very much appreciated.

Yes!! Parents do this to their children all the time!!! I'm not sure if it has sound, but you'll definitely be about to monitor what goes on in a car.
hmm i dont think ive ever heard ot hat
Acuttally yes there is not sure of the price but you can sure get them most are in black and white and there hidden cameras go look into it ask car shops about where to get them
I don't believe there is a commercial system affordable out there yet but the technology is out there I am sure. Then you would need to conceal the camera or that would be an item that would disappear.

Where do I put my wire through the firewall?
[Question]
I have a 94 Grand Am SE and I can't find a place to run the power wire for my amp. I took all of the panels off underneath the dash. I can't find an empty hole and there isn't a grommet with enough room. It is a 4 gauge wire. Any help would be great.
Also where could I drill a hole?
[All Answers]
Try running it through your fender along the panel, if that won't work an all else fails drill a hole.
Looks like you have to drill a hole. You can buy grommets and you can use some caulking if you want.
usually there's a rubber grommet that already has a bunch of wires going through. Just shove the wire into the same one and it should pop out the other side. You have to push real hard to get it thorough.
FYI - my toyota matrix was the same way and I was able to shove the 4 gauge wire through and it should easily go through.

Why did my fuse and stereo blow in my 1999 mustang?
[Question]
Well i bought a 1999 mustang not too long ago, only about 3 weeks ago and it came with a sanyo satalite tv,dvd,cd,radio player with a 6.5 inch screen. i was driving down the road one day and i heard a POP and smoke came out of the stereo unit. i pulled it out to find that the power unit smoked on me and the fuse running to the power connector for the stereo had blown as well. could this have been a short out in the car or possibly a short out in the stereo unit?
[All Answers]
Did you have any power wires touching a ground? Try a higher number fuse. An check your connections, something might have been touching a ground an popped your fuse.
Something touched
DO NOT Try a higher Fuse, unless specified by the manufacturer.
You probably just had a short, or drew to much power.
Replace the fuse, check your wires and go back to life as it was.

how to activate sirius satellite radio in a used car?
[Question]
[All Answers]
try this web site: http://www.sirius.com/install
It works the same way in any vehicle. I had mine activated by phone and I can put it in any of my cars. You will have to have a good power source in the vehicle though. Hope this helps.
You do have a monthly charge of around $12, thats what it used to be. You can call them and ask!
Just call and activate it.

Amp shuts off, protection mode?
[Question]
My amp is in protection mode. I try to ground i but it cuts on for like a split second then goes into protection mode. I have a computer power supply that powers it while in the house, but whenevr i insert the ground when the power is already in there it shorts out the power supply and whenevr i have the goround in there and insert the power it does the same thing. Whats wrong with my amp????
Rockford Fosgate 1200 watt amp. Have tried it from car battery. Ground switched on and then off.
[All Answers]
Have you tried powering the amp from a car battery? Computer power supplies are "switching supplies" and require a minimum load to operate correctly. Try connecting the amp to a battery to determine if the problem is really the amp or if it is the power supply.
rh
What is the size of the amp for starters? What is the size of the PSU? We cannot help without knowing all the information.
