My car is a 97, and it wont play a burned CD, is there anyway to fix that?
[Question]
btw, it has the original stereo in it.
[All Answers]
I don't know.
it is not formatted for it. It is time to upgrade to a new cd player
Get a new up to date CD player.
They are only about $70 for a good one.
I have a 91 and it plays burned CD's, I can also hook up my MP3 player to it as well.
Only way to change it is to buy a new cd player for it.
That's the problem, it has an ORIGINAL stereo. You need to buy a new cd. That cd player doesn't have the means to read the "burned" cds. Walmart has cd players starting as $50...
It depends on the radio. Some play burned Cds come dont. To fix this you would have to replace your head unit (stereo). Its that simple. :)
i would by a new stereo..
some are picky
i have a 97 car and now mine works fine once i bout one and installed it.
By getting a new CD player, that's how
Its because in 97 some cars didn't have mp3 technology so the cd players cant play mp3 cds only wma...before you burn your cd change the songs to wma instead of mp3 format. this can be done on windows media player
I'm sure you already know this, but it's not the car that matters. It's the stock player you have. I've had some stock cd players play some burned cd's and not the others. I've also had some players play a burned cd for a while, then for no reason, stop playing them. The variables are the players and the types of cd's used. And yes, sometimes the types of cd-r's make the difference. I would suggest going to www.crutchfield.com and ordering a new stereo for your vehicle. You can usually find a decent cd player/mp3 player that will work with any cd you burn.
Also, are you trying to make an audio cd or an MP3 cd? Most stock players that are that old will not play mp3 cd's. The format is completely different. It's like trying to put an 8-Track in your casette player (if that doesn't show my age).

What is the best brand car GPS system?
[Question]
It seems like Garmin is at the top of the list. Is that true?
[All Answers]
I had everyone and Garmin won't freeze up like everything else.
Garmin
The Garmin works great every time i own 3
While researching GPS systems before I bought one I didn't find a single negative review for a Garmin. A low end Garmin will out perform high end other brands. The directions are clear and accurate. Also if you hit road construction and want a detour it will lead you around. For me Garmin gets 5 Stars.
I used to have a Magellen GPS unit, and now I have a Garmin, and now definately wish i had stayed with my magellen. They have several of the same features really...so having either can't really go wrong, but i liked the look and size of the magellen much better and the directions to anywhere where always spot on. The user interface was better and the look/picture from the display was much better...garmin display is a bit cheesy really.

What does the RMS power rating mean?
[Question]
I know that the RMS power rating is the more reliable way to determine the output of the speaker but heres my question.
When speakers come in pairs, like the Alpine SPR-17c (100 RMS, 300 peak capacity), does the RMS mean its 100 watts PER speaker, or thats the total RMS of both speakers (meaning the speakers would only be rated at 50 RMS per woofer)??
[All Answers]
roots means squared
or basally the average power it can take or put out.
yes it means 50 watts for each speaker a basic way to look at RMS is that it is the constant watts at low volume.
the amount of wattage the speaker can put out without being underpowered
actually those speakers are 100 watts per side,
so you'd be getting 200 watts total,
Get at least an amp with this specification
- "100 watt x 2 @ 4 Ohms"
Then you can get the most out of those speakers.
Myself I have a Rockford Fosgate Punch 400.2 amp
and it has "100 watt x 2 @ 4 Ohms",
its perfectly matched with my Polk Audio SR5250 speakers
which are 100-watts per side (and are 4 Ohms).

How can I play my iPod in my car?
[Question]
My car doesn't have a CD player it just has a tape player. We have an iTrip but it doesn't work.
[All Answers]
if it has an aux. you can buy a cable with an adapter for your ipod and plug it in like that. that should work
i was gonna say iTrip but if that doesnt work..go to walmart or somethin and they have a thing that has a tape on it which obviously goes into yer tape player and has a jack on the end of it that goes into yer ipod. you can play yer ipod songs on the tape mode on yer radio.
if you have a stereo get an fm transmitter or you can just buy an aftermarket head unit with i pod ready

Help installing Car Stereo?
[Question]
A while ago I bought a car stereo, and I had one of my friends install it. Well the only problem i had with that installation was that every time I would turn the car off, the memory would erase. (The CD would start over again, and my preset radio stations would be gone)
So i decided to ask my dad, and he got rid of this problem and noticed that he connected a wire from the fuse box under the steering wheel to a wire of the stereo. That's the only thing i noticed, but i don't know if he did anything else.
Well my dad is no longer around, i want to know if any of you know what wire from the stereo he connected with the fuse box wire. My stereo got stolen (those bastards) and i purchased a new stereo. I can't buy wiring harnesses because the car doesn't have one. It only has the wires which are very short from the previous owner cutting them, im guessing from every time he had a stereo installed.
Well can anyone please help me? What wire from the stereo this is? and can you notice if he did something else that I didn't catch?
THANKS in advance
[All Answers]
You must read manual book ....
I would recommend that you buy both ends of a wiring harness, it makes it a ton easier. The previous owner obviously didn't know how to install and uninstall car stereos, so screw him. Solder on the harness and go from there.
Sorry I can't help you with the specific wire, can you follow the wire from the fuse box into your car?
Depending on the age of the stereo your dad either connected the main power wire or a memory wire to the fuse box. Older stereos used to have a wire that required constant power to maintian the memory and the main power to the stereo was controlled by the key switch. Newer stereos have main power all the time which keeps the memory and there's an ACC wire that is used to turn the stereo on and off.
Not having any details of your car or stereo that's all I can provide. At this point I'd suggest finding a local stereo shop install it. Most places should be able to get it in for less than $50 and you will not have the headache.
