would a capacitor help my car audio system?
[Question]
i have 2 12inch type r's and a power acoustik 1080rms amp to power them but it seems like my amp isnt getting the power needed cause my car battery and alternator is all stock would getting a cap help it get the power needed and be louder? my lights dim and stuff but that doesnt bother me that much i just want my amp to be able to provide the constant power but idk what to do any ideas?

a cap would definitely help out. if you are really serious about power look into a bigger battery and alternator
In your case, I doubt a capacitor would make much difference.
I'd start by upgrading the charging system wiring:
-the wire between the alternator and the positive battery post
-the wire between the negative battery post and the vehicle chassis
-the engine ground strap to the chassis
All these would probably benefit from heavier wiring.
Make sure the amplifier's ground connection is well-placed and secure, and check the battery terminals--they need to be tight and clean.
Kojak, do yourself and everyone else a favor, leave you bad advice in your brain. A bigger alternator and a bigger battery are not need as of yet, and with what this guy is running is not needed at all. A cap is not going to stop your lights from dimming at all ever. The only thing a cap will do when your electrical system is running and powering everything properly is stiffen the voltage to your stereo system is all, and nothing more. You need to do the big 3 upgrade that KaeZoo mentioned. He also gave you the correct spots to do it as well. Use nothing less than 2 gauge wire, 0 gauge would be the best to use.
I have an Orion HCCA 12.2 running off of a Power Acoustik 5500/1 amp at 3200 watts rms at 2 OHMs, and another amp putting out 600 watts rms to component speakers, i had major headlight dimming, until I did the big 3 upgrade. my alternator is only 110 amps, did the big 3 upgrade and now no more dimming what so ever. Do the big 3 upgrade it is one of the best mods you can do to your car. Totally benefical to your cars electrical system.
The stock electrical/charging system can't sustain 1800 watts rms for very long. Your alternator may fail after a couple months of trying to keep up with that kind of power plus the other electronics in the car. A cap won't help you here, but a high-output alternator would. And upgrading the alternator will require doing the big 3 upgrade like KaeZoo described.
First of all the only thing the cap is going do is stop the voltage drop, and george the most stupid person to give answer he don't know shit! I say get better h.o alt. and run the big 3 and get battery that will solve your problem.

Go to radio shack and get a rca jack convertor then in the trunk tie it into the two wires going to the rear speaker to get your output signal.
You could wire the front/rear speaker outlets together and then splice them into leads with phono (red/white)(left/right) connectors on the ends and plug into your amp, but because the standard head unit wont have a remote wire to switch the amp on when you turn the head unit on you would probably have to wire a switch in from the power on back of head unit to the remote in on the amp the main power lead and earth would remain the same, although this would work unless you know what you are doing with wire sizing and loads i would just buy a cheap head unit and whack it in much safer.

Why wont my subs work?
[Question]
My subs worked for over 4 months now all of a sudden they arent working anymore, I checked the wires and everything is hooked up, I tried to different amps and nothing, I looked at the subs and cant see anything wrong with them.
I checked the fuse by the battery and saw nothing wrong, and if that fuse wasnt working why would my amp still turn on?
Like I said I already looked at the subs and nothing looks wrong with them. I also tried hooking up another speaker that definatly does work and still doesnt work.

did u check the fuse by ur battery?
if the amp wont turn on then check da fuse if you know for a fact that everything is functional but the subs they could b blown
Check the fuse on the amplifier and by the battery and if they are still good then your subwoofer are blowing.
i think the sub are blown up you should check it.

Your best option is to purchase a wire harness adapter for your vehicle. That's how a professional would install it. The harness for your car is inexpensive and can be found just about anywhere.
Your best bet would be to run to an autoparts store like Autozone or a car audio shop and ask for a wiring harness. They're pretty inexpensive and they make the job much, much easier.
dude you screwed up. neons have POS audio set-ups for home installations. there's probably two green wires isn't there.

best amp for dual kicker l7?
[Question]
i just bougt 2 kicker 12" l7 which are 750 rms each im still trying to find what amp would be best for them???? any ideas??? trying to keep a no more than 350 dollar budget
[All Answers]
zx750.1
I would say get the kicker 1500.1 and that push them with no problem at all and you probably find that amplifier in your price range.
the hifonics BXi2608d is an awesome amp and is in the price range.
I think it is funny everyone is recommending amps and don't know the ohm load of the subs. Please, tell me how you know if they are 2 or 4 ohm and know which amp will work and why?
PLEASE, stop posting if you do not know. in this case, you DO NOT KNOW what you are talking about, just spitting our amps.
To actually help, I need to know if they are 2 or 4 ohm. Email me for direct help. If you listen to these guys, you will end up spending alot of money and an amp not working.
