What time of the year is the best time to buy a new car?
[Question]
What should you do before buying a car?
[All Answers]
The time of year that you have the most money
Toward the end of the year. Dealerships are trying to move out old models to bring in the new ones.
Also after hail storms that may have done a little damage to the cars. We got a car almost 50% off because it had a grand total of 3 minor dings to it after a storm.
er... they aren't daffodils, popping up in spring, new year is a good time though, everyone's like 'Oh, this year is EVEN lower priced than last year, how low can we go?? blah blah blah... unless money is no object and you were referencing to how ripe your car will be, I hope this helps.
If you know what to look for summer is the best as you can get underneath the car to check for rust etc...
Do not just base the car on how good the tyres are (and do not kick them lol)
Check that the oil has no white gunk on the oil cap if it does ...avoid it.
Start the car and let it run for 5 to 10 minutes to make sure it doesn't overheat.
Check all locks work,lights,wipers,heating,stereo(although not important it;s a bonus if it works lol)
Take it for a test drive..check brakes.
Check the vin number matches up with the log book.
It depends how much you are going to spend as well because you only get what you pay for at the end of the day.....
Good Luck!
I would have to agree that the best time to buy a new car normally would be towards the end of the year when traditionally dealers are trying to move old inventory to make room for the new year's models. That being said these days with the way the economy is any day of the year right now is pretty much a good time to buy. You easily should easily be able to find great financing and incentives and price reductions on a desirable car while the economy is still struggling.
Mid to late March or early April. New reg plates have just been issued therefore cars sound like theyre older than they are and newish car prices drop considerably.
I.e. buy as soon as!
Depends where you buy from. If you are buying from a car supermarket or a dealer chain (such as sytner group) Then go in the last couple of days of the Month. Salesmen are trying to reach monthly targets and will be a little more generous to get you to sign.
A smaller dealer with no sales targets can generally be a better place though as you are often buying a vehicle that was bought locally and probably maintained by him too. Bigger groups shift cars all over the country, a smaller dealer will know his stock and customer base more intimately.
Just don't use Ashby and Man in Hinckley, they claim to be Hyundai approved service agents but actually lost that contract in 2003 (funny how they didn't let their customers know!)
spring.. make sure i get a good deal
For a brand new car the best time of the year will be the months immediatley before the numberplate change (just before March and September).
This is because most people will want to wait a few weeks to get the new numberplate. Dealers frequently offer decent discounts to shift their showroom vehicles during this slack time.
Before buying a brand new car you should make sure that you can pay for it - ask what the dealer's special offers are or if they'll bung in some extras for the same money.
For new or secondhand cars check the insurance and tax group to avoid nasty surprises. Also the overall cost of ownership including fuel and servicing costs.
If you want a secondhand car then look to buy during the months just after the numberplate changes. The dealers will have stocks of traded-in vehicles to get rid of and they will suddeny become a "year older" just after the plate change so their value will be a blt lower.
For any secondhand car you must always look for a long MOT and check the service history. This will be recorded in the Service log book.
The car should have the Service book as well as the Owner's Manual and "Log Book'" (registration document) provided with it. If they're not there then you should wonder about how well it's been looked after in other ways too.
Check also the standard visible items:
* Tax (what is the rate and how long is there to run);
* Tyres (including spare) - you're looking for even wear, if the front tyres are unevenly worn then there is a steering problem, walk away;
* Excessive wear on the accellerator/clutch/brake pedal rubbers & mats (tells you how brutally it's been driven);
* Lights & wipers working;
* No visible corrosion on bodywork including underneath (if there is any then walk away);
* Mileage, is it between 10000 &12000 per year? That's the average. Also check that the speedo milage is a fair match to the MOT certificate - if the difference is very high then ask why;
* Look for any foam or frothing inside the engine oil filler cap - if there is any then water is getting into the oil - walk away;
* Sniff inside the boot. If there is a damp smell then there is rotted trim - walk away;
* Check the selling price against a book such as Parker's Guide.
If you're not in the UK then none of the above applies and you have posted your question on the wrong Answers site.
any time you can get a bargain~at the moment 2009 cars are priced lower than the "book " price for low mileage 2008 models
what should you do before buying~
check if your wife will be purchasing new shoes or an handbag,you don't want the colour of your new car to clash with them ~Do You .lol

my car stereo resets when i turn my engine off?
[Question]
i bought a sony cd/mp3 head unit for my car and i set the time up and the radio stations etc.. but when i turned off my car engine and removed said unit from the car and returned shortly after the head unit had erased my saved data. and am back to square 1.. why did this happen?
[All Answers]
Sounds like you don't have the memory wire hooked up correctly.
You must have failed to connect the wire that supplies constant voltage to the head unit, even when the ignition is off.
there are 2 power wires on your head unit one is hot in the on postion the other should stay hot at all times.if it doesnt stay hot at all times it will lose your memory.im not sure what color it is i would have to go look at my headunit to remember but thats the problem.
Car steros have two power connections. One is switched, so the stereo turns off when you turn the car off. The other is unswitched so that the memory won't be lost when you stut off the car. Make sure the unswitched power connection goes to a constant power supply (this is often marked "batt" on the fuse block.

do boss audio amps cut off when they get hot?
[Question]
[All Answers]
Most amps have a thermal safety cut out installed - any amp will cut out if they get too hot, some because of the automatic reset thermal switch and some because of a component failure - and those are the ones that won't automatically restart after a cool down.
yes, boss amps cut off when they get hot. But they rarely get hot unless you have the settings too high up, your have your amp mounted somewhere with little heat circulation, or you have your sub wired wrong.
yes they do! see when u use it a lot it starts to over heat like any other machine!

Which subs should i get??? Kicker...?
[Question]
2 12 inch kicker L5's or 2 15 inch Kickers.... and please say what size amp you suggest with whatever you pick
[All Answers]
For either set up, I would suggest at least a 250 watt amp...if not more. One other thing, what type of vehicle are these going in? Car, truck, SUV, van, etc.?
Good luck!
Jason
the guy above me is dumb, 250 watt amp? lol..
go with 2 12" kicker cvx subs with:
kicker zx 1500.1 amp (if you get dual 2 ohm voice coil subs)
or
audioque AQ1200D amp (if you get 2 dual 4 ohm voice coil subs)
Yeah, i agree with the guy above me. Jason ....250 amp? what? haha

buning a cd in mp3 for car?
[Question]
i burned a cd for my car in mp3 it did not work in the car was it something to do with the bit rate or something
my car supports mp3 so what am i doing wrong
windows media player i use
i will check what thay are in
but is there a specific one to be in
[All Answers]
some burnt cd's just do not wok on other players.
Bit rate? I don't think so. Something? Obviously!
Did you, by chance, are the files you copied to the disc in WMA format or any other format that your deck will not recognize?
(Did the same thing...made a bunch of CDs that I could only listen to on my computer!)
Good luck
Jason
Also, what program are you using to burn your CDs? I use Real Player.
I find the most flexible burning package by a long chalk is Nero 7/8.
It takes you step by step through al the options (bullet proof really) and does a good job.
I too have had to bin loads of discs cd/dvd that werent compatible with the players.
Windows Media player is just not focussed enough.
Best Wishes.
