Cost of Bestbuy Installing Speakers?
[Question]
I'm getting new Alpine speakers for my car because all of mine were blown out when I bought said car. I see on the website that it's $69.99 for installation, but does anyone know how high this price can go up once they get ya with the "not-included" wiring, harnesses, etc?
I've had a deck installed by them before, and the installation went from like $50 to $100, so what should I be expecting for these?
And, is this a decent deal, anyways? Could I trust a mechanic to this? Would the price be more or less with my mechanic?
Edit:
I don't want to take my car apart and do this myself... I have no idea how to remove the speakers, and the only wiring I've ever done is wires to d cell batteries back in the sixth grade, haha.
I just want to know how much I'm looking at for someone else to do this, and if bestbuy is my best choice.

there shouldnt be a harness, you should be able to wire them yourself. there should be two wires coming off them and all you have to do is splice the new wires to it.
69.99 is just labor. With every thing else it could run you like 100 to 150. Maybe less but close to that
Best buy will install the speakers for free usually if you purchase them through the company. If not then call them and ask for the total price with labor to install them. When I had them install some speakers it cost me $80 for them to install speakers I bought from a third party.
i have a ford explorer 98. im getting a new one in a few weeks same car but 03. so im giving my bf my 98 and he bought me a system for my car in trade. he had a system for his old car. and took it out. so right now we have 2 systems in r house. SAME EXACT 1s. only my amp is an updated version of his. well they wanna charge me almost 500 to install mine and him a little over 300. it doesnt make sence coz theyre the same systems just 1 updated amp. and same cars just different years!!
Stay away from the big box retailers to install your stuff. They're usually not certified and most are right out of high school and will mess up your car's wiring. Trust me.
Search for a local mobile audio shop. Install shouldn't cost more than $100-$150 and you'll know it was done right.

My car battery drains overnight unless I pull the "radio battery" fuse?
[Question]
I have a 2003 olds alero... Car was fine until a cd got stuck in the cd player... then the battery would drain over and over, I finally began to pull the "radio battery" fuse, and that worked, I figured the radio was somehow still running with the cd stuck. I finally was able to disconnect the radio and fich out the cd, the car was fine all day, so I figured the issue was solved, and of course...this morning the battery is dead, so something in the radio is still draining the battery (ps I had a new battery etc, its not the battery, it takes a charge and jumps well). Taking the fuse in and out is such a pain, its on the passenger side, and for short trips its annoying, but I wanna listen to music lol. Also after this happened I can't use any of the buttons on the radio, no lights on it work, I can only dial the radio manually... HOW CAN I FIX THIS!!!??? Thanks for your help!
I don't think buying a new radio will work, since the issue is in the wiring...

take it to a garage
buy a new radio!
I would charge the battery fully.Remove the battery and have it charged for free at Auto Zone. The reason is if you just jump it and drive short trips the battery doesn't have time to recharge fully. There are two ways to do this Take the battery out and recharge it fully or take a long ride about 200 Miles that will charge the battery fully. If after you charge the system fully and it still does the same thing then you'll have to replace the radio. They sell radios cheap and that will solve the problem.Good luck.
u need to take the radio out and test the power of the constant and switched power source and track down the problem that way, so u can change it if needed...........i would buy a new deck since u need to take it out to trace the problem anyways,..................if ur not interested in doin this u could put a switch on the radio wire from the fuse, that way u just gotta flip a switch instead of pull the fuse out everytime .
After a battery gets drained down over and over like that, it's probably weak and dying. You can get it checked for free at autozone. From your description I'm sure your battery is on it's last leg. You may need a new one.

Car audio soundproofing?
[Question]
I have 2 12" subs in my suzuki esteem and I was wondering a cheap way 2 reduce the bass u hear OUTSIDE the car
[All Answers]
I think car audio soundproofing is cool but i think is costly,.
yeah im sure u can get soundproof windows
Dont be stingy with tha bass, Bump it til you blow tha wig off of george bush.
Stay High
Not a whole lot you can do. Especially with low frequencies you're talking about.
Stopping sound requires one thing: MASS.
You'd have to greatly increase the mass of your doors, windows, flooring, you name it. The other thing is sound works like water. It finds its way through the smallest holes. The whole thing is going to have to be sealed to have any real effect.
Do a google search for people trying to soundproof rooms in their house. You'll start to get the idea. Usually it takes multiple layers of hard fiberglass insulation, sheetrock, etc with rubber isolation mounts between the different layers.
Its not as easy as just getting new windows or something. And its the opposite of cheap.
This stuff here is your best bet to keep noise outside of your car while keeping music inside. I've heard nothing but great stuff about it.

Depending on your definition of cheap, this might work for you. good luck.

Hooking up a capacitor?
[Question]
Well i hooked up a capacitor and it works great, except for the fact that it kept draining my battery and my car was dead the next day. should i just put a switch on the power wire leading from my battery to my capacitor that way once im done driving i just flip it off to prevent it from sucking battery
[All Answers]
I just asked my son and he said, "he needs a new voltage regulator" you need to get a new voltage regulator to correct this problem.
Can you tell us how you have it hooked up to your amp & what kind of cap you have? There's no reason to install a switch to it.
caps do not consume electricity. Once it is charged which takes seconds at most depending on the application, it sits there at the voltage of the battery and does not use current. I think your amp is not turning off. Check your remote turn on lead. If that is always at 12v then that will drain your battery.
the only way a cap would drain ur battery is if ur cap has a remote wire and u have it hooked up to a constant instead of a remote, ..........what r u gonna put a switch on a 4 gauge wire???????????????............

Which TOMTOM satnav is best?
[Question]
Hi I'm getting a tomtom sat nav for my fiance's birthday this montha dn am a little confused as to which one to get, i've narrowed it down to two different one's but am not sure which is best, and would really appreciate your opinions, thanks. The two I have been looking at are the TOMTOM classic £99 (GB and Ireland) and TOMTOM one £129(GB and Ireland) which is better, thanks Xx

THE LATTER.
I have the 'CLASSIC' and it does the job well enough. No prblems with it. (save a bit of money). The higher the tom tom price the more info' it has but this is no use if you don't use it.
