Where do you put subwoofers in a car?
[Question]
I am looking to buy some subwoofers for my suzuki verona and I was wondering where could I put the subs? I see most people put them in their trunk in a box, but I REALLY don't like those giant boxes back there. Where are they stock in most cars?
[All Answers]
in the trunk and in the side doors
They ARENT stock in a car, you only have some 6x9s stock.
Well typically subs go in the trunk because the power and sound is quite deafening lol. I have 2 12" dual subz in my trunk and if i kept em in the back seat area people would have bloody ears.
ALTHOUGH, if you have a space above your backseats, where the rear speakers might be, you can set your subs up to go there, the downside is that it might crack your rear window if you have really kick ass subs.
ok subwoofers depends were they are in stock cars. say you have a pontiac grand am year 1996 their subwoofers are under they back windsheilds hooked in with the speakers and their also hooked in with the speakers on the side of the cars driver and passenger door. now wat i did is that i took the seats out of my car and installed the subwoofers under them!!!! and some cars you can pull the back seat down to look in the trunk, i would put prolly teo little ones up aside that!!!
usually the trunk, if you are opposed to the big boxes you may look into maybe geting 2 12in slim sub woofers which people usually put in reg cab trucks. just a suggestion.
Stock in most cars is behind the drivers seat but thats like porches and nissans 350z
They are also located in between the 2 rear speakers in hondas but they are not very powerful free air woofers
Your best bet is the trunk
If you dont want a giant box go for a single sub with a sealed box... it will takeup some room, but you really dont want your woofer elsewhere unless you have the tools/knowlegdge to custom mod some shallow mount woofers into the doors
Stevo
Your absolutly wrong.
People put subwoofers in their trunk because in MOST cases you get around a 3DB gain by having such a setup which makes your subs at max power sound 2x as loud. every 3db gained is double the power.
other than that it gives a nice spacey area for the bass to resonate.
Your subwoofers wouldnt sound as good if they were IN the car with you
in side doors ,or above your backseat
You put them on the rear deck and build a box around them You lose trunk space.
you put them in your boot or if you realy want you could put rip out your back seats and stick one there and also if your willing to spend mega money you could get a special box made which takes up all your boot space http://www.dynamicsubwooferenclosures.com/catalog/images/Dual-Sub-Enclosure.jpg also you only get subs as stock in expensive cars

simple instruction on how to hook up a car audio system please?
[Question]
[All Answers]
Totally depends on what you are doing... due to compatible adapters and such.
Best way to do it is to buy it at a best buy that has an audio garage... many by me do... and they will usually install it for free.
read the manual
not near enough information given, and no matter what you do, its not simple
google it
Well that really depends on what you mean by "car audio system."
At its most basic level you have your head unit which has outputs to speakers. The head unit is connected by a wiring harness to power and other wires that tell it when to turn on and if you have any iPod connectors or steering wheel controls.
Getting more advanced
People run amplifiers which are connected to their head unit through an amp wiring kit which has power, ground, RCA, and remote wires. The amp then hooks into other speakers, usually subwoofers in more basic setups.
Depending on how complex you get and how much power you need, you may need to link up multiple amplifiers and use capacitors, which regulate the power being pulled from your battery so your car doesn't die when you turn the volume up.
since im not sure how in depth you are going there for im not sure how much to mention. try going to ehow.com and looking up amp installation, or cd player installation and it will have step by step instructions for you.
Go to your local car audio specialist, take your wallet out and hand them your credit card. It's that easy

WHY DO MY AMPS AND HEAD UNIT CUT OFF?
[Question]
I have 2 Kicker L7 15 dual2 ohm subs and 2 Memphis MCD1000d amps,1 on each sub. I have a 200amp Iraggi alternator and 2 extra batteries with an Alpine IDA-x001 head unit. When ever I have the level on my amps set too high on one amp or the other everything will shut off when the bass hits(the head unit and amps) at high volume. At lower volume or if I have the level on the amps down it is fine. I cant figure out what is going on. Its like the amps are fighting for power. I have done the big 3 upgrade.
[All Answers]
voltage is dropping below minimum operating range.
new diodes in alternator,
better alternator.
v common problem i see it all the time
because there getting to hot and they have thermal protection to keep from burning them up.try putting a small fan by the amp to cool it.
Both previous answers may be correct. Although if the fact is overheating remove the case from the amp (friends have done it this way) to keep it cooled.
dose it only happen when the cars turned of
could be the batteries i had to go too 4 to get the power for my L7 15s
when the subs hit on higher volume it needs more power if it cant get it then it will cut out
another thing is you might need a capacitor if you got one thats good
email me if you want something els
peace XP
yup, with the extra batteries your putting too much on the alternator to keep them at a charge an dkeep them pushing enough current to give the amp what it needs to let those beasts roar. try a bigger cap and losing one battery. less strain on the alternator will help things alot.
Might also want to put a cap or two on top of all that.

hi i want to buy a cd player with fm radio?
[Question]
I have only got £150 to spend and i want one with decent sound, any you would recommed????
[All Answers]
i dont know
the head unit (car Stereo) doesnt matter its the speakers that makes the decent sound
memaley1995, I would hate to hear your system, I am willing to bet that it sounds like crap. The stereo is where all the sounds in your car begin. You get a crap stereo, it doesn't matter what speakers you have in your car it will sound like crap. memaley1995 take the best made speakers in the world, and put them on a Boss stereo, and it will sound like crap.
For a CD player with FM look into Alpine, you will not find another stereo to deliver the same music reproduction anywhere. Alpine is the tops for stereos. Their screens for GPS and DVD applications on the other hand are inferior to Kenwood and Pioneer. For GPS and DVD I would suggest Kenwood and or Pioneer. But for CD Alpine all the way all day.
Memaley's answer is absolutely 100% wrong, and explains why people spend hundreds on subwoofers, amps & other crap.
Buy a decent head unit - my Pioneer DEH-5000UB was £40 brand new off Ebay & sounds fantastic, but then I do actually want to hear vocals & instruments rather than DUM - DUM - DUM!
Most car speakers are surprisingly good (although some are indeed pretty crap). Buy a decent head unit & then see if your speakers are up to it.
With a cheap head unit & aftermarket amps & speakers, you're just amplifying distortion.
Sorry we dont sell them here, try an electrical retailer or search radio cd player there's plenty around.
Any cd player out there is going to have FM radio, don't worry about that. Your price range is high enough to have many options available to you. Just shop around, and stay clear of "discount" brands, like boss, jensen, pyramid.... anything you see from brands like alpine, pioneer, kenwood, sony, eclipse is going to perform nicely for you for years. The prices can skyrocket quickly when they start putting in more features, and higher quality components inside, but it sounds like your looking for just a decent entry level model for a reasonable price.
Google "car stereo", you'll get dozens of websites that sell gear online, or shop your local stores if you want someone to put it in for you. A CD player isnt all that tough to put in yourself, though.... if you can use a screwdriver and electrical tape, you should be fine. If you shop a site like http://www.crutchfield.com/ they'll even throw detailed instructions in with your order.

Not if you want the most out of them. Both the speakers peak at 2k watts the amp only pushed 4k so you would need a 8k amp or 2 4k amps to push all the speakers at there full.
Tho 2 15s at full watts would sounds really good by there self.
Not really familiar with Lanzar, but getting 4 of those subs (if the rating is true) the RMS is 2000 RMS watts each which= 8000 RMS watts... The amp RMS @ 2ohms is only 1650 RMS Watts.....That amp is not gonna push 4 of those....U would need two of those amps to run each pair of subs.....Then u would be ok....
TRAVIS M: Yea i overlooked that...they are 1000 RMS each...Well the 2x 1650 @ 2ohms would still be enough if both pairs are wired at 2ohm across 2 channels......However i still would suggest to get a MONOBLOCK amp with enough power to push all 4 subs at as close to 4000w as possible, but that could get a little costly... But Travis M is right in this case....This pair is actually good.....
To the previous poster, look again closer.... RMS is actually only 1000 watts per each sub. Notice how the seller tries to be tricky and list the peak power for two subs combined.... in which case, that amps rating is exactly where it should be for these subs
Still... It'd defintely be crazy loud! I wouldn't have any illusions of great sound quality, both from the fact that it's lanzar gear, and that 15" subs don't have great SQ in general. They're loud, but they're on the sloppy side too.
That amp doesn't post its RMS rating in single channel bridged, which is the mode you'll probably want to use. Disregard any Peak rating, long story short, "peaks" are BS.... RMS is real world use.
You could wire those subs up for 2-channel, 2 ohms, or single channel 4 ohm load. Either way you'd get plenty of power for your money, and be well on your way to rattling that ridiculous plastic wing off your trunk.
Just be sure to get about 2 farads (or more) worth of capacitor, and a 0 gauge amp install kit. Depending how honest that amps ratings are, if it actually puts out that much power, you may be looking at a new high-power alternator in your future too.
BTW... what vehicle is this going in?? The box for 4 15's is going to be *massive*.... I hope you have a SUV (or plan on sacrificing the back seat of a sedan)
Travis M hit it dead on
Really loud
Lacking quality
Itll work
Let me bring up a couple other things
Alternators... Wiring...
Have you thought that through becuase your going to need around 420 amps so 2 HO alternators and the Big 3 done to both of em.
Hey man you won't get the quality out of it and the amplifier is not going doing do 4,000 watts it might do 2,000 watts but i doubt it.
