2 ohm and 4 ohm subs?
[Question]
I dont understand this whole idea for subs? I am putting 2 12" in my car but dont understand which type to get. whats the difference? will they both be just as easy to install? How will the sound compare?
Do they use the same amount of power?
[All Answers]
they will be the same to install
2 ohms are louder than 4 ohms
depends on whether you are going to run one or two speakers off the same line. look at it this way. if you hook two 4ohm speakers to one channel you end up with 2 ohms. if you hook two 8ohm up on the same channel you end up with 4ohms. if you hook 2 2ohm up you get 1ohm which is bad. your target ohms is 2 or 4. 2 being the best for subs and bass. 4 being best for mid range and tweets
Loudness depends upon efficiency, not just resistance.
A speaker at 93dBa is twice as LOUD as a 90dBa speaker, but that doesn't make it better.
Quality depends upon matching speaker and amplifier, and the higher the resistance the better the quality (and the greater the required amp output).
Installation is identical.

Which subs would be louder/better?
[Question]
i have a sony xplod slim class d amp.
mono subwoofer amplifier * 290 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms) * low-pass crossover (50-300Hz, -12dB/octave) * variable bass boost (0-10 dB at 40 Hz) * switchable subsonic filter (15Hz, -12dB/octave) * speaker-level inputs with high-level sensing turn-on
those are the specs. and im getting 2 10" kicker CVT's. should i get the subs at 4 ohms or 2 ohms?
[All Answers]
I would want the load on the amp to be 2 ohms for more sound. in that case. get the 4 ohm speakers and wire them in parrallel to the amp to get a 2ohm load
get the 4 ohm and wire them down to a 2 ohm load, that way you'll be getting the most wattage out of your amp
Those are SVC subs, so get the 4-ohm version. Wire them into a 2-ohm load.
Why the CVT's? They are for shallow mount situations. Like under the seat of a truck. Also, that amp is rated at 500 RMS @2-ohms. That is 250 watts per sub. So you want subs with higher efficiency, rated at around 250 watts RMS. Those CVT's are rated at 400 RMS and have a sensitivity rating of 85.5 dB. It will take a lot of power to make them loud. What kind of box are they going in? How much you want to spend on subs?

i have 2 subs rated at 200 watts rms what amp should i use?
[Question]
I have 2 subs rated at 200 watts rms each i was wondering if its ok if i get a 600x1 amp at 1 ohm? this means each sub should receive about 300 watts if bridged to 1 channel correct?
[All Answers]
get an amp that is 400 watts rms
at the ohms that your subs are
before wiring it down to 1 ohm you need to check if you can wire your subs down to 1 ohm. and unless you have decent subs, i wouldnt give them more than their reccommended rms power. look for an amp that does 400 watts x 1 channel at 2 ohms

car audio help needed?
[Question]
i have a 1995 honda accord sedan, v4 2.2l. does it matter what cd/mp3 deck i put into my car, or do only certain decks fit. cause i went on bestbuy on entered my car info and it showed only some would fit and not others, is that true, or can i put in any cd/mp3 deck
this is an overall general question. the car info was extra .can i use any cd/mp3 deck or it has to be specifically for my car?
[All Answers]
You can fit any CD player, single-DIN or double-DIN, in your vehicle as long as you use the appropriate mounting kit. In general, the only thing you need to worry about when installing an after-market head unit is the size: whether it will fit the dash opening, with or without an adapter kit. In your vehicle you can fit any size CD player (except 1.5DIN); some vehicles can only take a single-DIN unit.
Single DIN = 2" tall and 7" wide; double DIN = 4" tall and 7" wide. Most CD players are the single DIN standard.
You have to think of the depth of the HU. Some are deeper than others. Some have a cooling fan in the back that can't be blocked.

car audio system help?
[Question]
I have never bought anything for my car and i don't know what i should get. I need to know what is needed for a car audio system and how to put it all together. I don't know what any definitions mean either. except watts
[All Answers]
all right. first of all. i would do some research on what everything means. (aka asking questions on here.) But the basics of what you need are your Head unit (in dash stereo) your amp your subs and an amp wiring kit. you may want to try talking to a car stereo professional for more questions. there is a lot involved with installing a stereo and some things can cost you a lot of money if you make a mistake.
The basics are a HU (radio), and speakers. For better sound, you can add an amp to power the speakers. Then you can add subs and an amp to drive them. Of course, you have to get the wiring needed for the speakers, amps, and subs.
