WHAT SUB AND AMP SHOULD I GET NOW?
[Question]
RIGHT NOW I HAVE 2 12 INCH KENWOODS 1200 WATTS PEAK EACH. THEIR RUN BY 1 1000 WATT KENWOOD AMPIN MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THEY BUMP REALLY GOOD ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE. MY FRIEND JUST GOT THE SAME SET UP IN HIS CHEVY PRIZM, WE CANT HAVE THAT. I NEED SOMETHING BETTER AND LOUDER WHAT SHOULD I GET.
FOR GOT TO MENTION IMA FULL TIME STUDENT PART TIME WORKER SO I AM NOT AS PRIVIALAGED AS SOME OTHER PEOPLE.
[All Answers]
Get another amp like the one you have and connect each amp to it's own sub. Double power, who can complain?
Happy installing
get two 15 inch kenwoods and use the same amp
Maybe MTX subs, they might sound better a little better than the Kenwood, or Pionner primer subs are good too..if you want to go high end look into Atomic Subs; DB drivers or JL...or Rockford Fasgate...
Many people always look at the watts, RMS is what really matters. Get a pair that have high RMS. Alpine Type-R's are really really good for their price, can't go wrong with those.

Do competition subwoofers need a box?
[Question]
[All Answers]
yes competition subs need a box all subs need a box to sound deep and most copetition subs will come with a box
yes how would a sub get the air it needs without a box?
Any Subwoofer needs a box. Unless you want it shaking and bouncing all over the place...
Typically you will need a box....
However you could go extreme and build a wall in your vehicle essentially making the back part of your vehicle a large box....

if i have a 4400WATSS amp is ok to use a 4 gauge wiring kit amplifier?
[Question]
[All Answers]
nope....wire way to small 00 gauge or bigger
atleast a 0 gauge, make sure the amp can handle the gauge you choose, and you can tuck it away. It's a pain to hide in some cars.
If it's trully 4400 watts, there's no way. Assuming it's rated at 14.4 volts, that amp is rated to pull 305 amps. A 4 gauge cable will not last long if it works at all. There are charts that help determine the best gauge cable to use. Do a search. I can't think of a particular site off hand.
To get a true idea of how much current the amp will use check the fuse(s) on the amp. The amp can't use any more than the total rating on the fuse(s).

is my amplifier blown?
[Question]
Also, when i took the power cable ring off and back on the battery, it didn't spark or anything and it always did before
I installed a 4000 watt amp the other day and it was working beatifully for 2 days.
The power cable and the ground cable did touch a few times and sparked but it still worked fine. One night I'm drivin home and it just shuts off. The red light that indicates it's in the process of turning on would show up but then fade out several times. Now I can't even get the red light to turn on.
I checked the fuse on the power cable and it's fine. Now when I plug the power cable into the sub with it connected to the battery, it doesnt spark or anything. Does this mean there's no power going through the cable? or the amp is blown
[All Answers]
it seems more like that for some reason power isnt going through the fuse in the power cable. are you using a test light to test it if you are check at the entrance of the fuse and the end of the fuse. if the light turns on in the entrance and not at the end then there is something wrong with the fuse also if it does turn on then yes it might be that your amp is blown or something else is wrong with it.
check all fuses, in the panel and on the amp itself, seems like a blown fuse somewhere.
Amps with that size always comes with a short- and overload fuse installed either on or in the amp itself. Disconnect the amp, get a 2-gauge (at least, I would recommend 0-gauge) wire kit and redo the wiring (if it "sparked" like you said, it most probably melted at some point, shorting out and causing the amp to shut down). Then check the fuses, if it still doesn't work, buy a new amp and install it properly!

how do i hook up a amplifier to a factory car stereo?
[Question]
[All Answers]
You're going to struggle. I don't know why you would want to do it that why anyway, aftermarket is way better in the quality aspect. The main problem is getting the security code after the stereo is disconnected. Factory parts are made with codes to stop people from stealing them, so you need to enter the specific code everytime you disconnect the stereo. Even if you get the code, you cannot be sure that the stereo will support an amplifier. I really recommend a good aftermarket stereo, and something like the Kenwood KDC-MP5039U won't run you out of cash, and it has a lot of really sweet features.
There's 2 different methods of getting a high-level (speaker level) output to an amp input.
1) Use a line output converter, commonly referred to as a LOC, to convert the output and use RCA cables to input the signals to your amp(s). This is the preferred method.
2) Use an amp that has high-level inputs built in.
If you are hooking up an amp just for subs, you tap the rear speakers and connect the tapped wires directly to an amp high-level input or to your LOC.
If you are hooking up an amp to power your normal speakers and all 4 channels, it's a little more complicated. In that case, you need to disconnect (cut) the speaker wires from the receiver, connect the output side (end on the receiver) to your amp input or LOC, and then connect the amp speaker outputs to the other end of the cut speaker wires (going to the speakers).
dumbest idea EVER!!!, why would you ? Need Subwoofers first!
