best suv to put a system in?
[Question]
lookin for another car to put a system in and i would like a 4X4 just so in the winter i wont get stuck in the snow. also try to think of suv's that cheaper cause i still would need $ for the system.
also what would be a good system brand to put into the car.
thanks for any input

Any 4x4 SUV is good for putting a system honestly. No truck is going to better for the a system than another. I would try going used though. Maybe a used yukon, or expedition. I dont know what your price range is, but escalades are bad ass. A used one would set you back probably like 20 grand or so. As far as systems go, you can't go wrong with Alpine. Everyone has their own opinion though, they all work the same and sound the same, it really just comes down to how much you're willing to pay. The more you pay, the better the sound. Also when you pick out your car, make sure when you test drive it, that stuff isn't rattling everywhere. If the truck rattles while driving then you can pretty much guarantee that when the subs start kicking, that it'll rattle and sound like shit.
A ford explorer or expidition would be fine...and for brands of car audio...go with any of these...alpine, mtx, JL, kicker, and rockford fosgate.
Look at a Jeep Grand Cherokee, they have a ton of room. As for brand of system, you really just build your own unless you get one of those crappy pre-built systems. I can help you build on if you like of check out the forums. Feel free to I.M. me with any questions. Stay has no idea what they're talking about, the more air you have to move the better it sounds... Meaning some cockpit space is limited, like the Ford Explorer I currently drive one, and don't suggest it, UNLESS you remove the rear seats.
The bigger the better that way it builds more pressure inside because the SUVs acts like a box itself but you can't go wrong with a Jeep and witch system my personal favorite is JL Audio.
not sure, but i know FOrd suv's only fit 6x8 side door speakers. I was mad when i couldn't fit 6x9's!

What do I need to upgrade my car's sound system?
[Question]
I want to get a better car sound system (better head unit, amps, subs, maybe speakers) but I have no clue what to get. The price can't be too much, but I still want good quality.
[All Answers]
Go to a local car audio place and get professional help. You're not going to get anything but people's opinions on here and everyone has a different opinion about what they hear.
Go in and tell them what your budget is and they'll work to get the most bang for your buck. Since you want good sound and have a low budget I suggest getting a few good basic components and save for other pieces later.
Heres what i think a good system for not much would be..
Head unit- pioneer of any kind(range of prices 50-150)
Amp- Kicker zx400.1-$129.99
Subs- 10" Alpine Type R- $119
My bro had that system and it sounded great! loud
whatever you do do NOT go with Dual. They have a lot of flashing lights and cool looks but the speakers sound awful. They do however make good head units. Polk audio makes a good door speaker but don't go with a 6X9. they sound awful as well. speakers work best when they are round so go with 6 1/2" speakers. Rockford fosgate makes very decent amps as well as subs in the cheaper price range. The step up from that being the Alpine and Kicker brands.
check your amp first. some have option swiches where you can crank up the sound and give you spreakers maximum watts
Honestly, don't go to local car audio stores like best buy or circuit city or whatever you have around you.. They usually over-charge you a ridiculous amount.. You could check out your local craigslist area and find used subs for a good price. Just make sure you hear it first before buying. Brands that I would recommend are Alpine, Kicker, JL Audio & MTX.
Some subs i've heard and owned that are amazing:
Kicker L5 (Not as loud as an L7, but cheaper, still very good SPL and quality).
Kicker L7 (Can go with a 1 10" and get superb quality and SPL)
Alpine Type R (Heard these once, they are absolutely crazy.. some of the loudest round subs i've ever heard)
Stay away from kicker comps, they are not very loud, and you will most likely be upset. GL bro

Hey i only have a 650 watt amp?
[Question]
The bass sounds good, but not great, would a 1000 watt amp make much of a diff, the subs are MTX..any ideas on size amps??
[All Answers]
We need more details about the subs to help.
In general, more power is better.
depending on the subs whether they can push the RMS ratings of the amp. A good 1000 watt amp is the JL 1000.1 and the alpine pdx1000.1.
How many watts can the sub handle?
We need more info, the specs of the sub really, if you could link us. Also the first post is completely moronic, more watts doesn't mean more bass, look at the SPL of the box it's in, if it's ported, seal, etc... But please re-post with a more detailed question.

Any recommendations for a good vehicle GPS?
[Question]
What features are important? What brand is best?
[All Answers]
I like Garmin.she talks nice and lets me know where all the good restaurants are!
Garmin is only one I used that didn't freeze up.
garmin
Personally, I would recommend getting an aftermarket stereo with GPS built in. The 'add on' GPS's are a high frequency target for thieves.

What should the gain be set on for an 750 watt car audio amplifier?
[Question]
I would like to run an 750 watt car audio amplifier to a pair of 6x9s, the rms on the amp is 80 watts per channel and the speakers rms is 45 per speaker.
[All Answers]
I wouldn't do it. You run the risk of blowing your speakers. Keep the gain waaaaaay down, if you try it.
Good luck.
The gain should be set to whatever it takes to blend the sound with any other speakers in the car. If they are the only speakers, the common method to set the gain up for best use is turn the head unit volume up to 3/4 power, turn the gain up on the amp until the speakers start to distort, then back down a little and you are done. That'll give you max volume for most music at 3/4 on the volume but leave some overhead for older or poorly recorded music so you can turn it up a little more.
Don't worry about blowing up your speakers. The amp only puts out what you tell it to. Speakers will distort before you put enough power to blow them.
Youll be fine with that amp...keep the gain less than half though
