My car radio fuse blew what should I do?
[Question]
I bought 10A fuses last night and this morning I changed the fuse in my fuse box and it still does not turn on. This has happened before. Help please!
Last time i fixed it by just changing the fuse and this time I did it but it still doesn't work.

Something is shorted out in the radio. Take it out and get it repaired.
well if its happened before
how did you fix it?
Is it an aftermarket stereo? If it is, there are two fuses: one in the cars fuse box, and one behind the radio itself. Even some factory stereos have a fuse inside it that can be changed from the back, but they are so few, it's not worth looking.
your radio is groundin out behind the head unit pull the head unit and check your wires
u should turn it off and never turn it on again

Can changing your stereo deck add clarity?
[Question]
I drive a 1988 Toyota Celica and i just changed the speakers in the car. I got good speakers but it still doesn't sound amazing when i play music over my Iphone through one of those tape decks.. What's the best way to go?
[All Answers]
yes but dont forget your speakers too.
well of course, your playing it through a casette
yes, getting an aftermarket stereo will give you increased sound quality. thats the main reason for getting an aftermarket stereo.
Another thing, .mp3 songs will not sound CD quality, nor will a cassette adapter.
Deffinatly and you will have a better higher quality connection to your ipod through that deck if you buy one ipod capable
Alpine has a great line of decks

Question about car amplifier?
[Question]
I'm looking at this amp: http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Pyramid-240-watt-2-channel-Amplifier/3289119/product.html#custreviews
I have a single 10" sub that I want to put in my small car.
This should push the sub right?
I don't want anything extremely loud but I want a thump that isn't there as of now.
It's a Polk Audio Sub.
http://www.amazon.com/Boss-Audio-CX150-2-Channel-Amplifier/dp/B0016J1NNW/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&s=miscellaneous&qid=1235929999&sr=8-16
That one may be better?
[All Answers]
hah
no
that amp is junk
its probably like 50 watts rms...
and we need to knwo what sub you have
do you haev a link to the type of sub you have
put it in a box and get a small amp like 200 watts will be fine
pyramid is bad quality. and that page didn't even have any specs for it. just a max rating and how many channels the amp has. its garbage. what you need to do is first determine what subwoofer you want to use. then when you match that subwoofer with an amp, get one that puts out the same RMS as your subwoofer.
so if you get a 200 wastt RMS subwoofer
then you want an amp that puts out 200 watts RMS
thats 100 watts RMS... keep going man
jesus your cheap

new stereo or go to the dealership?
[Question]
I have a 1998 Volvo and the security feature was enabled on the stereo when I got a new battery. I followed the procedure with the code and all that business after it happened. well the code didnt work and the dealership said that when people buy a Volvo used that can happen and the next step is to take it in for them to fix. question do I do that or just go get a new stereo as nothing is cheap at the dealership.
[All Answers]
You have your answer already yes the dealership has all the code variables and should not charge you more than 1 hours labor as far as a new stereo that is a personal desition but more than likely more expensive don't forget about the speakers
But you can ask first , how much to fix such problems.. Yes or No is after we know how much the price. A Consumer has the right to know such things.
I probably could be a lot more help if you gave me the model number of your Volvo stereo.
I don't know about Volvo dealerships but most manufacturers keep note of the code for the orginal stereo fitted tied to the chassis number/registration number of the car. (especially for newer cars linked with the rise of the computer)
It appears if your code has not worked as given in your handbook that it is either the wrong handbook or the stereo has been exchanged at some point in it's life.
Dealerships can only give you the code if they have radio decoding software OR if Volvo has a database of every unique serial number of stereos and the appropriate code. (which I doubt)
There is many independant radio decoders who can read the code from the security chip, and will probably in most cases be cheaper than the dealship. Although in saying that I've heard dealerships give codes away for free if they can access a computer database. Worth giving a ring first to find out how much.
With all respect, I'm wondering if the code you do have - has been entered/ activated properly - there is quite a few variants in the methods as far a volvo stereos are concerned - this is where a model number would have helped.
hope this info helps

Is it possible just to upgrade the speakers.....?
[Question]
Is it possible just to upgrade the speakers I already have in my car without adding all those fancy amps and sub woofers/bass boxes and all that wiring? Ime not that bothered about bass, I just want better quality sound and a little extra bass, but I dont want to put any of those masive woofers and amps in my boot. Is their a way of just upgrading the speakers I already have in my car? I have an 05 Civic type r and if it is possible can anyone reccomend me some good speakers.
Thanks
[All Answers]
Yes you can, there are speakers with more power, more multi speakered configureation's. Go to a place like wal-mart or something like that to look for them... I've found you don't have to spend alot to get good sound!
yes it is possible but make sure get the same watts
kenwood
pioneer
JBL
walmart
ebay
amazon
you can go here to find the exact size of speakers your car takes
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/autoinfo/autoinfo.asp?lp=%2fapp%2fCar%2fMyCar.aspx
there are plenty of user reviews for speakers on that website too. then if you see something you like, google the model number to find them somewhere else for much cheaper. or if you do buy from crutchfield, they send instructions for your car to install your stuff plus they send wiring harnesses etc so the speakers simply plug in
for brands, you can't go wrong with polk, infinity, or boston. an amp isn't needed to get the sound you want. good luck
