What is a wiring harness?
[Question]
Wiring harness for audio speakers...?
[All Answers]
wires that run through your car.they run power to everything in your car.
there many choices exaple you need a wiring harness for your stereo..
A wiring harness is an organized bundle of wires that's usually wrapped with tape or tied together with zip ties.
If you buy an aftermarket cd player, you can get a harness for your specific type of car (walmart or auto parts store). That way you don't have to clip the wires and solder each one.
if you dont know that much then just go to mickey shores or best buy and have them install it

Need expert advice on getting a new car stereo?
[Question]
I have a 1989 Volvo 740GL Sedan. It needs a new stereo, It currently still has the factory tape deck and only one speaker (driver side front door) works.
I don't want the whole "Pimp My Ride" stereo system. Just a nice simple system that is iPod compatable (I buy about one cd every two years). I don't need one that is extremely complicated. I would like one that kinda equalizes the songs for me as they're played so I'm not constanly fidgeting with it while I'm driving.
If I haven't given you all the info you need, please let me know and I'll update my question.
Thank you!

big Q is who's installing it?most local stores do it or know some guys the trust....or go to Crutchfield.com they have what you want...no joke...great catalogs and a killer hot line...real people who know what they are talkin...ive used them for many yrs
Buy the JVC KDG120 excellent value and roughly 100 dollars.
Well you want a simple stereo just buy the cheapest one find someone trustable to install it for you and buy the fm transmitor for the ipod it'll be cheap oh yeah your ipod already has an equalizer so yeah. Also you might want to tell the installer if they could check your speakers beacuse the might be torn because of the age of your car well googd luck
Surprisingly, I just replaced my stereo and the blown out speaker on my passenger side door. Anyway, I found a very good stereo at Walmart for $50. It has exactly what you're looking for; detachable faceplate, front auxilary for mp3 and ipod, and it looks very nice. I've had mine installed for about a week and I'm very satisfied.

What kind of amp should i use?
[Question]
If i'm looking to install 2 subs that are 4 ohm svc, should i use a 2 ohm monoblock amp or a 4 ohm.
[All Answers]
2ohm monoblock.
Just as a brand recomendation, Hifonics amps seem to work amazingly well. My brother just got one and it's a very clean sound. Pushes 2 L7's in his truck extreamly hard, he can actually blur your vision when your sitting in the truck. The price is quite reasonable for the quality as well.

if the speakers are 4 ohm and the amp is 2 ohm you will burn the amp up. i speak from experience. i sugest a 2 channel amp that is cappable of powering both of them so if you are wanting to run 2 speakers at 500 watts each buy a 2 channel 1000watt amp
Nobles, you got it backward. A 4-ohm sub WILL NOT burn up a 2-ohm amp. Now the other way it could, a 2-ohm sub on a 4-ohm stable amp. Y
OP: You need either a mono block, with the sub of the subs RMS ratings, at 2-ohms; or a 2-channel, rated the same as your subs (eg: 250x2). Go by RMS and ignore peak.

i need some assitance in my amplifier decision!?
[Question]
i have a couple pairs of subs and i dont want stupid answers please. i know about speakers but i want to know which is best for my 15" dual voice coil sub. it has a rating of 1300 watts rms. i know that i need some amp between 1200 and 1400 watts rms. but i want to know if i should get a mono block because its a single sub or do i get a 2 channel and hook both voice coils up seperately on the same amp?
[All Answers]
It's basically the same thing but I would recommend bridging a two channel amp because it gives you more flexibility in the future if you change your set up. If price is your only concern though then just do whatever is cheapest.
either size amp would do. Go with a mono block and bridge your sub in series (neg to neg & pos to pos) on the sub. Depending on the ohm of your sub if it's a 4ohm it'll become two and if it's two than it'become one to maximize the power of the amp that you are using.
I would recommend a class D mono amp and wire it down to 2ohm. You will get the best bang for your buck that way.
Actually if you put positive to positive and negative to negative that would be wiring your sub in parallel.
