What do I Trust, Sat Nav or Multimap?
[Question]
When I get directions from a Multimap, it says my journey will be 21 miles, but on arrival, my sat nav says I have completed only 18 miles.
Which one is accurate please?
[All Answers]
Your car has an odometer just for such purposes!!!
The sat nav will be the most accurate.
But as with all sat nav's you have to use "common sense" sometimes.
Some routes and software are not up date.
Trust No one!
Probably your sat nav, check with milometer
Does it matter that much ?
Sorry to be a ludite, but i trust Ordanance Survey and my Odometer / trip computer
I don't trust my sat nav as far as I could throw it (and its built into the dash so that wouldn't be a good idea)!
It's 11 miles out when I drive from Glasgow to Reading. It sends you off at junctions just to rejoin the same motorway, and the maps are so out of date its unbelievable!
I set the odometer for every journey now and compare it to the sat nav. Only thing is, the speedo on your car is only accurate to within 10% of actual speed, so the miles are wrong either way!!!

i want a headunit that would make my subwoofer LOUD and i also want it to make my sounds clear.
is this a good combination for the alpine headunit? is there any better ones thats below $350
[All Answers]
the CDA-9886 is a great headunit though i will say get it off a different site your getting charged up the ass at cruthfield
yes that alpine unit is a good one
Now to have some fun in regards to "i want a headunit that would make my subwoofer LOUD and i also want it to make my sounds clear"........Dude that Sh*t is the Bomb it will make the girls wet as they hear you coming down the road
Or would you like a more detailed explaination and truth of Signal to noise ratio from head unit to amps
Great Unit. terrible price. You can get a better deal on ebay.
when you do find the one you wanna buy. make sure to google reviews from multiple sources. there are soooo many good processors out there now. check ebay and amazon for better deals on the same unit. crutch is expensive and the same products/models are out there wholesale/ discount stores.
60 w x 4 , you can prolly count on decent technology inside

ipod itunes / car sound?
[Question]
so i have a 1994 pontiac grand prix.
i love my car (:
but i'm having sound problems i guess you could say.
my ipod always sound too bass-y and so i adjust my ipod to "less bass" equalizer and then it just sounded flat and bad.
i also raised the volume adjustment to 100%
the only speakers in my car are the factory ones.
and i can't afford betters ones.
So my question is does a anyone know a good pre-set for my ipod so that it will sound good in my car? or just anything i can do to make it sound better?
<3
[All Answers]
try no to have the volume on the car radio over 75% usually 50-75% works best, then control the volume through your ipod.you cant go too loud with stock speakers if you do your sound is going to be distorted
on most cars there is a way to adjust the bass on the speakers. Thats really the only thing I can think of. Try looking for it as a knob on the dashboard. You could also play the songs at a lower volume so you don't get the high bass.
I dont use ipod, but on my mp3 and several ive seen. theres a switch or selection that makes the sound a low but consistant output. then you turn up the stereo and adjust that.
about all you can do is equal out everything between your ipod and stereo about 50/50
your grand prix stock stereo doesn't have the option for "bass and treble" tuning i believe...if i'm correct you are able to tune "low", "mid", and "hi" (do so by pushing in the volume knob or a seprate specific button)
Settings________
ipod---volume 50-75% (depends on song) set equalizer to rock settings, and be sure if you have a bass boost to turn it off.
car stereo-- set low, mid, and hi, levels about 75% and remember that they do go into negitive...
try it that way then tune by turning down low(bass) 50 and test if need further adjusting turn up mid/hi (treble) to 100%
if this doesn't change anything or help out chances are you've blown a speaker(s)

i have a pioneer stereo need help with speaker wiring how do i know which color goes with?
[Question]
[All Answers]
Okay this might sound a little confusing but here it is:
you speaker has on the back to pins one black and the other red right?
take your wire and put any one on each one like black with red or red with black or white and such just make sure that you put the right end of the wire you stuck in the speaker to the Receiver like on the back of the Receiver in the red put the same color you put in the speaker and on the reciever it will say left and right.
red is for power, black is for ground and usually blue is for aux.most other colors are speakers.first get your ground and your power wires set and then you get your others by process of elimination.its always a good idea if you can color the wires(both ends)when you find a match so that next time it will be easy for you.color tape, markers, zip straps...any system that you wish will do just fine.
donot put black wire with red or red with black..this might shortout/burn your system.why people are out to harm each other and not help each other will always keep this world going down.
email me the stereo model
and your year make model of your car.
or go the easy way!
walmart...buy the wiring harness for your car and simply match the colors and stripes and plug n play!
Pioneer Car audio Models up too 1999 ( btw all models use the same wiring color codes)
If you need what color the wires in your dash are for the speakers in your car...I may also be able to help

Re Wounding Alternators?
[Question]
Would re wounding my alternator for an 01 honda civic coupe be worth it, compared to buy a HO alternator for 1000-1700 RMS System? was wondering, thanks for your time.
[All Answers]
no, your alternator is 85 amps at most.
Get the HO
wow
JESUS STOLE MY 40 You just proved you know nothing about car audio
A capacitor is only a voltage stiffening device it is only efficient to have one if you have 20% more power comming off the amperage than your electrical system and soundsystem all use
It would not be benificial to own a capacitor in this situation
Your cheapest upgrade is the Big 3 which still wont fix your problem if your running 1700 watts RMS
a high output alt will leave room for future upgrades aswell
dont bother with either!
ebay a capacitor for cheap and never have to worry about dimming lights and killing battery ever again. invest 50 bucks in a good sized ''farad'' cap. from ebay and simple install. and your good.
now, if you already have a decent cap installed.....
i havent seen anyone need to replace alt or bat after a decent cap connected to amp.
Caps are a waste of money
Honestly
People want to know when they should replace their alternator. The short answer is... when it fails.
If you just want the battery to remain charged and your present alternator is keeping it charged, it's doing its job. If you want a system to be as close to perfect as possible and money is no object, replace your alternator when you install the amplifiers.
Also inform if the amps are Class D or Class A/B due to the efficenicy rating of the amps ..also factor in the amount of Current draw
A very easy way to calculate the Maxium Draw of a system is
Total rms power x 2 divided by voltage( 12-13.8V) = total PEAK Current draw at full power output
Take total current draw divide by 3 ...due to Music is Linear and only takes on average a 1/3 of the power ..in comparision to test tones
