Will my stereo kill my battery?

I have a 2002 Honda Civic Si that is stock, I want to run an Alpine MRPM500 amp and an Alpine MRP-F300 amp. But i am worried that when my car is running the battery and alternator wont keep up to how much watts the 2 amps are taking out and it will kill the battery. I've talked to some people and some options are a bigger alternator and battery or a second battery and alternator. Any suggestions, or will my current battery and alternator be able to keep up?

The battery doesnt do anything while your car is running # 1 so the only way to kill a battery with a system is play it without the car running.

I am not sure the amperage of your alternator though, if you can post that i can tell you if its too much for your alternator.

EDIT

Im going to take a guess and say your alt is an 85 amp alt, in which case your good until around 860 watts RMS is what my calculations are comming up with you should be able to work with it.

It really depends on the kind of music you play, and how loud you like to play it. For most music listening, an audio system only uses a fraction of its available power. My guess is that if you're primarily using the system for your own musical listening inside the vehicle, then the stock battery and alternator will be fine. On the other hand, if your goal is to annoy people in their houses, then you might need a charging system upgrade.



A bigger battery, or a second battery, won't help you much if you use the system while you're driving. An alternator upgrade, and/or an upgrade of your charging system wiring ("big 3") would be more helpful.

It depends on the wattage of the subs...if the 1 12 will have more watts than the 2 10's combined then get it...but its always better to have atleast 2......how about get 2 12's...then ur really banging....i have 4 10's in my truck...it was 6 but i took two of them out....

LOL ahahha ur not gonna get a sub that can hit hard and an amp thats under 350. A good sub thats 12" would cost you at LEAST 300. and thats being generous. And a amp that can push those two sub would be at LEAST 600



2 12" bad subs - at least $600 - $700

2 12" good subs - $1000 and up

1 bad amp - $500

1 good amp - $800 and up



LOL AHHAHAHAHAH if your only willing to send that little on a two subs and amp then you might as well buy nothing because all your gonna get is walmart brands

that 1st dude has no idea what he is even talkin about haha wow you can get some kickers or some punch 1's or 2's an a nice amp thats like 500-1000 watts for the money you got for real you just have to research that kinda sound you want, if you want it to be more bass then vocals or the other way around...
