I have 2 10inch subs in my car and?
[Question]
Someone backed into my rear quarter glass and I just got it replaced. All the tint on my car is black...black black. But in the new window, the tint (I got it at a junk yard) isn't quite as dark. And you could see into my trunk area (I have a station wagon)....
I have my subs chained to my floor in my car. It's very obvious. I probably couldn't get them out myself. LOL
So..my question is: If you were to steal subs. If you saw that it was obvious that it would be alot of work, would you leave my car because of that?
Or should I spend the extra money to have the tint put back on? If I did that you could NOT see into my car.
But it does look like I have something to hide.......
Thanks everyone. You bring up very good points.

Portable arc welders cut chains in seconds, .... I recommend you get comprehensive insurance on your vehicle's insurance with a $0 deductible.
To be honest if you can see your stuff all chained down they would probably leave it alone... but if someone say wanted your amp and it was easy to get off theres a possibility they would get in there just for that... I would say keep your tint dark, I had my jeep broken into but nothing was taken because well I made the hatch not unlock able without the key (cut the wire) and it won't fit out anywhere else, but they did just leave everything after they figured out they couldn't get it out in under 30 minutes. My tint was dark though they broke in I assume because they heard me driving and recognized the vehicle.
It always better to be more safe than lose all the money you put into it and then have to repair your vehicle too.
if i was to break in to your car i would only take the subs and break the box to get them out, but thats just me and probably anyone that wants to get some subs, so i would pay the extra money to get the window tint.
of course get it tinted because 1 it keeps people from seeing in and 2 it probably looks real odd... if i was gonna do it which i wouldn't cause i'm not a thief!! i would look for the quickest and easiest way to get it out.. that's what thief's do anyways.. so don't worry right this minute but i wouldn't leave the glass un tinted for long! and also if you do go somewhere i wouldn't leave the car in the parking lot for long!
put the tint back on.... most of the time, its a heat of the monment decision. someone will see them and just jump onthe chance to take them. they dont care what they damage inte process..
You have to think like a thief to answer your own question.
Honestly either way your car will be a temptation to a thief. I would probably spend the money to replace the tint just to make your car look right. But, you might want to see if you can find a load space cover or something to make it less visible to see your sub enclosure in the station wagon.
Insurance is also a worthy consideration as well.
hey man... wheres your car parked?
you could throw a beach towel over the sub and do just about the same thing as tinting the quarter window. Use a black towel. Get some tint film and carefully apply it where you want. Measure twice and cut once, so it fits right and looks professional. If this sub is so high quality, the thief will just folow the sound whether they can see it ow not. Sound quality advertizes better than sight.

what will be better 4 10s or 2 12s kicker l7?
[Question]

both subs at 4 ohms.
the amp is a mmats d1400.1

4 10's easy. i would pick that set up any day
Definitely 4 10s. You can position them in more ways and get a better, fuller sound.
hooking 4 subs up to 1 amplifier is a bad idea, unless its stability is under .75ohms. You'd need two amplifiers that are 2 ohm stable each. But the 4 10" subs would rock the 2. Same wattage, double the power then.
4 10s push more air than 2 12s and will be immensly louder than the 2 12's though i must admit for a setup like that you should really use a quality sub... the L7 isnt a very good sub... its overpriced badly designed and when max powered the square subs dont usually last for more than a year
addin the fact that its square design kills ALL sound quality that it may have had.
Think of a calm pond...
now throw a rock in that pond... you get the ripple effect
what shape are those ripples?
How do you make square ripples
thats the same concept of how a soundwave works
I can help you choose an amazing setup if you so choose, just email me and i would be happy to help

Will I save money buying from an Audio shop instead of a retailer?
[Question]
Im planning on getting a subwoofer and amp with the wiring kits along with professional installation. Now should I go to retailers like best buy or circuit city? or should I go to this car audio shop where they sell subs and stuff?
thanks, im just asking because im really tight on money
[All Answers]
an audio shop will rape u.........example at an audio shop where i live, i couldve bought a kicker zx1000.1 amp for 799. got it new from a store on ebay for 329.00, get ur stuff from a wholesale store.. and as far as circuit city, they had a tsunami 2 farad cap for 199.. got it on ebay for 65.....free shipping,
On the internet is where you will find the cheapest gear. For example I bought two alpine type r subs, for 132 a piece from onlinecarstereo.com, but best buy wants 229 for them. A lot of times online retailers will have free shipping, just ordered a amp from cructhfield, with free shipping.
most of the time a small audio shop is going to be a little more expensive then a retailer then best buy. however, both will be more expensive then the deals you can find on the internet.
with that said audio shops sell much better stuff then the crap that best buy sells. anther huge advantage is when you get your stuff installed you know it will be done right. at best buy most of the time there installers are some kid that is fresh out of high school that is just starting his career. in other words the audio shop wont hire him yet cause he doesnt have the know how yet.
good luck
A retailer will have installation available and the audio shop sells retail, 6 0f 1, half a dozen of the other.
Go online. In audio shops, they purchase items at around 40% what they charge. In many audio shops they also say that something is "on sale." That just tries to draw in customers that think they're getting a deal. Online things will cost half as much as in audio stores or even retailers.

intalled audio deck to my car..can i wrap paper and tape around the connecting points?
[Question]
basically ive finished installing the car audio deck in my car, everything works...due to lack of resourses i had the wrap paper and tape the connected points of the wires together....my questino is would it catch on fire..can i use that as a temporory protection so it wont touch the other wires?
[All Answers]
dude...........dude...........dude..........it should be okay for temporary, it will not make a connection with the other wires, but u gotta fix it to fully protect your deck and thats just down right ghetto..........cmon ur better than that arent u?
Wrapping paper is not so good. Electrical tape is much better for wrapping wires. Best is to install coax connectors on each bare wire. The under dash equipment can get very hot in summer heat, so best be prepared for the worst; protect audio, stereo, and video wires with connectors designed for that purpose.
lol go get some elect tape... your gonna start a fire
Always use electrical tape, it is specifically designed to electrical wires and connectors. It is made with material that resists electrical current.
Paper and tape has a lower flamability rate than tin foil, which I've seen people do a lot. Those wires tend to get warm, so I recommend using black electrical tape and going to an audio shop and getting wire clips. You twist them on the ends of the wires and then you're good.

when hooking an amp up what wire do u hook the blue one that goes into the amp i think its either antenna or?
[Question]
remote but what wire do u Connect it to from the head unit.... in a 1995 nissan hard body and a 1994 chevy 1500
[All Answers]
You have to look on the manual. Usually the blue wire on the headunit goes to the wiring harness, then you just clamp that in and have the turn on lead going to the amplifier. Check the manual or the wires have the colors labeled. Usually the grey and purple ones are speakers, red yellow and black are for the power source and there is a single solid blue wire. That is where you hook up the turn-on lead.
that would be ur romote wire you hook it up to ur cd player or radio either one u have installed.
Buy a wiring harness that matches your car and the head unit and then you won't have to worry about it. You can buy them at Crutchfield, Best Buy, or Wal Mart.
Crutchfield is my personal choice because they send free installation instructions if you buy the equipment from them.
Well most cars under 1997 have Power antennas if your car doesnt have an REM wire then yes its most likely the blue antenna wire
