What will happen to speakers on a stock radio without an amp?
[Question]
Hi,
I just bought 4x Infinity 6522i's. They have an RMS of 60w but I can't afford an amp to support that at the moment. If I plug them straight into the stock head unit whats the worst that can happen? Im not planning on playing them loud. The car is a peugeot 306, so im guessing the output power will be pathetic, somin like 20w per channel.
Thanks
"if they are 2ohm speakers you will burn out the amp in the deck."
The speakers have a 2ohm impedance..

It just wont perform to their best capability, they will still produce sound though.
It will probably distort the sound the speakers make, screwing them up. It will sound horrible, that's the worst. Just save and get an amp. :)
I have done that, nothing bad will happen they just wont be as loud as they would be with an amp. Your radio or speakers wont break, they just wont perform as well as they would with an amp. You can get the amp and hook it up later.
The output will be around 20w rms per channel. Nothing will happen to the speakers but if they are 2ohm speakers you will burn out the amp in the deck. They must be 4ohm or greater for your deck.
As long as your speakers have the same ohm rating as your old ones (probably 6 Ohms) your head unit will be fine...your speakers will just be significantly under-powered.
Volume probably same as it was with the original set up. No damage will be done. Bass response could be poor.
it will be absolutly fine there will be no problem at all
I wouldn't put anything lower than 4 Ohms to my head unit because the head unit can't handle that low of Ohms and it will fry the unit

My car died and now the sub/amp won't work?
[Question]
My car died and after i jumped it the sub and amp don't work. I couldn't seem to find any restart switch on the amp. Any suggestions?

ressuscitate it with LOVE.
try lookin at ur fuses bro
The jump might have blown the amp. Thats the only thing I can think of..run it in to an audio place and see what they think.
Check the fuse between the battery and the amp. When you jumped it you might have overloaded the fuse.
The fuse my friend, change the fuse. There is at least one fuse on the amp itself (rectangular) and if you trace the power wire to the battery there should be a fuse holder near the battery connection
(cylindrical). Or you may have fried your amp completely. Check all fuses first.

will i need an amp to power two of these speakers?
[Question]
i want to put two of these in my car:
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_components.php?comp_id=128
will i need an amplifier to power these speakers, or can i run them right off my head unit. i have an aftermarket head unit.
[All Answers]
Yes you can run these straight off of the head unit because they are 4ohm speakers. They will sound way better if you connect an amp though.
It would depend on how many watts your head unit puts out. I'm sure it would power them, but it might not power them to their best ability.
you could power them off the head unit but they would sound a lot better off of an amp.
NO YOU DONT NEED A AMP FOR 6*9'S as long as you have a deck you will be cool. i got all new car speakers and they run off my deck

Help Me Find a Good Car Alarm?
[Question]
ok so i'm putting a system in my car, 04 Malibu Classic, and i want to make sure my stuff will be safe, so i need a car alarm, but i don't know what to look for. basically i want something that if someone bumps into my car or try's to break in an alarm will go off. so i've seen some for around $90-$400, i'm looking to spend maybe $100 or so. post links to alarms and if you have a car alarm what kind do you have?
@ Cap: that looks good man, and the customer review was convincing, i'll have to look more into it thanks.

I like Viper so I going to suggest this alarm system for you http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_10664_Viper+350HV+ESP+Security+System.html. For the price you can't beat it.
Asianwolf Car Alarms
How they work: http://www.asianwolf.com/caralarm-deals.html
Where to get them: http://www.asianwolf.com/caralarm-deals.html
First car alarms dont do much. If some one wants something they are gonna try.
Mine is a cheep fusion alarm. Instaled it myself, (my job)
Almost every car alarm can have the sesitivity changed, It can be set to hitting the car - farting next to it.
What you need in my opinion if you wanna watch your stuff is a 2 way system. Most are the same,, The 2 ways usually come with remote start. The plus on these systems is you get a keychain that tells you when your alarm is going off. So you can run out and see whats going on.
