Can I hook up three single voice coil 4 ohm subs to a 2 ohm stable amp?
[Question]
I have three 12" 400 watt single voice coil subs and a 2 ohm stable 400 watt RMS amp. If I wired the subs in parallel I would about a 1.33 ohm load. Will a 2 ohm stable amp be able to handle this?

4 amp
Probably not. Why not get a 1-ohm stable mono amp? You really need a more powerful amp anyway. You need an amp rated at 1200 watts RMSx1@1-ohm.
You can hook it up, but it will sound funny at high levels. Get a better amp.
Yes, however, consider how you're going to do it:
In parallel = 1.33 ohm load = slightly unsafe for the amp, poorer sound quality, overall probably ok as long as you don't turn the amp up too far.
In series = 12 ohm load = perfectly safe for the amp, great sound quality, just fine, but your amp probably can't supply the power levels needed for this configuration
I say go ahead and try it in parallel as long as its a good quality amp. I used to run a supposedly 4-ohm stable MTX amp at 2 ohms for years and it worked great. I've since changed the configuration, but it's been working from some time in 2002 through today.
No it won't work and when you do it your amplifier going cut off and it will stay in protect mode and never come out of it because you burnt up the board on the inside.

How much does a great after-market car stereo system cost//for an Audi A4? Thanks!?
[Question]
[All Answers]
really good- 500
original- 100
so you may have an idea!!!
New head unit: $300, New speakers: $500, Amp: $250, Subs and enclosure: $300, Amp for subs: $250, Installation: $350, Total: $1,950. This is of course a ballpark figure. The question is how great a system do you want?
Well none of these people know what your taste in sound is, so you really cant go by what they say... My taste i can build the system for like 700, and that's including head unit, subs, amp, speakers, capacitor, and wiring kit... So it is really up to you. Why don't you go to a competition and listen to some systems then make your choice?
nick Z knws nothing.
if you want just a little more sound and bass.
100-250 stereo
100-350 for ALL 4 inside speakers
and 100-200 for the amp to power the speakers.
stick with alpine on the stereo and polk audio speaker and a kicker 4 channel amp. the polk speakers are about 110 rms soo the amp needdss to be 100-120 rms X 4

I have a 15" kicker cvx sub, and a kicker zx750.1 amp, Do i need to upgrade my stock alternator for this?
[Question]
i have a hyundai elantra gls 2007 2.0
[All Answers]
whaaaattt?
I would just do the big 3, if your lights still dim get a battery and that solve the problem but make the alternator your last resort.
You probably should. The zx750.1 uses 80 amps, and that stock alternator doesn't have that much extra current to spare on top of what it already has to supply for everything else.
You'll be fine, just get a capacitor.

What Size Subwoofers for Car?
[Question]
In a few months I'll be getting my first car, and I will be putting subwoofers in the trunk of the car. I heard that I would be able to fit either 2 10" subs, 2 12" subs, or 1 15" sub in the trunk. Out of these choices which would I get the best bass, and sound out of?
[All Answers]
Go with the 12's. It kind of depends on the car too, but I had 2 12's in my first car ('96 blazer) and they would sound good. Spend the money on a good amp.
damn bro i have 2-12 jackhammers and it sounds clean! and loud, or u can get 1-12 inch dub6....
2 12's are the most common setups in cars are usually the most convienent.
one 12" sealed box running of a big mono amp.

What is the best ( meaning loudest (db) and Sound quality) 12" sub woofer? looking for around 600$ range?
[Question]
[All Answers]
you don't need to spend that much on a sub wolfer unless your talking about a tuned custom box enclosure; customized for your car, drivers and amp? Look into JL audio,MB Quart; Rockford Fosgate; Pioneer has some good stuff believe it or not..or see what the local shops can do for you...
You should check in the fi btl, dc lvl5, rd audio spl, dd, death plenty subwoofer, ssa, mach 5, memphis mojo.
The new RD Audio Alpha MAX would be PERFECT. Rated at 2500 rms and has a 66mm 8 layer flat wind aluminum voice coil, Y35 grade magnets, kevlar impregnated cone, and a titanium former.
Here is a video of 2 15's we put in the owners tahoe. Does 150 at 32 hz and 153 at 38hz on music.
