way too much stuff to read.........if u wanna do a 2 ohm load on a mono amp u can use any subs that are 4 ohms and u wire em in paralell and its a 2 ohm load.
caraudiosuperstar @ 2009-03-31 10:17:32

Neither. For a 2-ohm load, you need either SVC 4-ohm subs or DVC dual 2-ohm subs. Wire the SVC in parallel; or for DVC you need to wire each sub in series then wire them together in parallel. Those are basically the same subs, just different boxes. Get a pair of 12" L5 dual 2-ohm coils. Then build a box, or have one built.
chris_harper1970 @ 2009-03-31 10:27:33

When you wire something in parallel it cuts the ohms in half. With that being said, it depends on how many of these woofers you want to use and if they are dual voice coil or even quad coil.

1- DVC 4 ohm sub wired parallel will= 2ohm load to amp

2- single voice coil 4 ohm subs wired parallel will= 2 ohm load to amp

Here is a very helpful explanation site.

http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/Shop/Control/fp/SFV/30046/view_page/Subwoofer_Wiring_Ohms_Law
curtis2002dodge @ 2009-03-31 10:31:35

"caraudiosuperstar" got it partly right.

If the subs are 4ohm SVC then yes you can wire them in parallel for a 2ohm load.

But those L5 subs are DVC,so in order to get a 2ohm load on a mono amp you will need the 2ohm version wired in series/parallel like this.

Use option 2

i've got a small hatchback, and wanted to improve my car stereo by buying some extra kit for it. i have nooooooooo idea abou it at all though (i dont even know the difference between a sub and an amp!!?), but want to spend between £100 and 150 for the time being. what do i need to get and what could i aim at getting in the future? is it something i can fit myself with some instruction? i'm quite able, and technically minded, but suck when it comes to soundsystems!!

i have a dual coil sub & 2 identical 500 watt amps. the sub is 1000 watt rms. can i use 1 amp per coil. the ohms all match.
Steven C @ 2009-03-31 10:33:03

no. That is a bad idea. They would fight and overheat the coil most likely.
Doug W @ 2009-03-31 10:39:50

yes u can...........DOUG.......doesnt know what he is talkin about, the gains, and settings on the amps need to be absolutely identical........
caraudiosuperstar @ 2009-03-31 10:43:31

YES YOU CAN!

You must match the amps perfectly- down to the millivolt.

use a multimeter to read the volts coming out of the amp's speaker wires.

Turn the gain knob until you reach the same voltage output on both amps.

Use a bass cd so you can play one specific note to your amps.

(repeat a 35hz note or something)

most people match their amps at a very low volume level. Remember, i said "millivolts" not "volts". If the amps are matched down to just a 1 volt variance then you WILL blow your sub very quickly.

When you think you have them matched- Test the voltage at different volume levels once or twice to make sure they are the same or are very close. a couple millivolts difference is ok.

No sound coming from car radio, but the power is on..?
[Question]
The front right speaker is blown for sure.. its been so for a couple weeks.. just thought I'd mention that.

Anyway, after a couple seconds I cant hear the sound from my radio. But the power is still on.. I can see the CD still playing. When I remove the faceplate then put it back in, the sound starts playing then once again stops. Any idea what might be the cause?

I have a warranty on my speakers that I've had for about 2 years now, but I just want to know whats wrong first.. because I dont think one blown speaker should completely cut off all sound?? I dont abuse the speakers or anything either.. just wear and tear..

Its an aftermarket Kenwood CD/mp3 receiver.

gbradleyb @ 2009-03-31 12:16:12

I personally would replace the speakers anyway, that is what warranties are for, when something stops working and its not from abuse. As for the sound problem,

I'm no expert but its most likely from the radio. It could be as simple as a bad connection between wires. Or the radio could be dying and needs to be replaced. Also, don't rule out the car, my car had trouble a while back with its electrical system and the hint for me that my car was about to die was I'd lose the radio.

If you have a friend with a similar size radio, maybe you can try switching the two. If the radio still fails in your car then its the car or connection between the two, if its fine in your car then it was the radio.

What will happen to speakers on a stock radio without an amp?
[Question]
Hi,

I just bought 4x Infinity 6522i's. They have an RMS of 60w but I can't afford an amp to support that at the moment. If I plug them straight into the stock head unit whats the worst that can happen? Im not planning on playing them loud. The car is a peugeot 306, so im guessing the output power will be pathetic, somin like 20w per channel.

Thanks
"if they are 2ohm speakers you will burn out the amp in the deck."

The speakers have a 2ohm impedance..

It just wont perform to their best capability, they will still produce sound though.
BirdzIview @ 2009-03-30 11:48:36

It will probably distort the sound the speakers make, screwing them up. It will sound horrible, that's the worst. Just save and get an amp. :)
Florida Girl @ 2009-03-30 11:49:34

I have done that, nothing bad will happen they just wont be as loud as they would be with an amp. Your radio or speakers wont break, they just wont perform as well as they would with an amp. You can get the amp and hook it up later.
Louis M @ 2009-03-30 11:49:35

The output will be around 20w rms per channel. Nothing will happen to the speakers but if they are 2ohm speakers you will burn out the amp in the deck. They must be 4ohm or greater for your deck.
Dustin @ 2009-03-30 11:50:22

As long as your speakers have the same ohm rating as your old ones (probably 6 Ohms) your head unit will be fine...your speakers will just be significantly under-powered.
Derrick W @ 2009-03-30 11:50:24

Volume probably same as it was with the original set up. No damage will be done. Bass response could be poor.
TSCouriers @ 2009-03-30 11:50:48

it will be absolutly fine there will be no problem at all
ericparker535 @ 2009-03-30 11:58:30

I wouldn't put anything lower than 4 Ohms to my head unit because the head unit can't handle that low of Ohms and it will fry the unit

Check the fuse between the battery and the amp. When you jumped it you might have overloaded the fuse.
Louis M @ 2009-03-30 12:01:59

The fuse my friend, change the fuse. There is at least one fuse on the amp itself (rectangular) and if you trace the power wire to the battery there should be a fuse holder near the battery connection

(cylindrical). Or you may have fried your amp completely. Check all fuses first.

Yes you can run these straight off of the head unit because they are 4ohm speakers. They will sound way better if you connect an amp though.

Mine is a cheep fusion alarm. Instaled it myself, (my job)

Almost every car alarm can have the sesitivity changed, It can be set to hitting the car - farting next to it.

What you need in my opinion if you wanna watch your stuff is a 2 way system. Most are the same,, The 2 ways usually come with remote start. The plus on these systems is you get a keychain that tells you when your alarm is going off. So you can run out and see whats going on.

How do you hook up a poer inverter directly to the car battery and drive at the same time?
[Question]
The only way an xbox 360 can be played in a car is if the power inverter is hooked up directly to the battery using the clamps (red and black). As far as I knew, i thought you could only do this by lifting up the hood, but I'm no mechanic. Anyway, me and my brother want to be able to play the 360 in the backseat of the car while my dad drives. Any suggestions?
Cedric L @ 2009-03-29 07:55:05

[All Answers]
dude why are you hooking this up directly to the battery?

if you really want to hook this thing up (use a fuse first of all), and just wire it to the accessory wire at the ignition if you really want to use some larger power, but that is un needed really

just go behind a cigarette lighter, solder on the connections and run your inverter wire from there (cut the inverter chord open right, dont just plug it into the plug, run it behind the dash)
yeshewa @ 2009-03-29 08:58:27

With as much power as the 360 and a monitor uses, probably a good 250 watts together, you'll definitely want to run a power cable straight to the battery. If you hook it to another power source like the cigarette lighter, the cigarette lighter's fuse will just blow & you wouldn't be able to use it anyway. For something like running a cable to the battery, an auto parts store can usually show you exactly how to run it. You'd need a special battery terminal and some longer cable.

you can use mono or 2 channel

any amp that is 1600 watts rms

and you will need a bigger alternator

or prepare for major headlight dimming and eventually destroying your alternator
KB @ 2009-03-27 09:30:11

you shoulda got those subs in the dual 2 ohm version for you can push them with the kicker zx750.1 its a perfect match
Dj Low Proz @ 2009-03-27 09:49:16

First off, a 2, or 4 channel amp just refer to the amount of sides (with two + and two -) to connect to. You just need a 2 channel unless you are also using this amp to power other speakers in the car.

If it is just the subs, then I would suggest a 400-600 watt AMP from Rockford Fosgate. The reason I put the range is the prices. Sometime you can find a higher watt amp for a lower price. The amp you purchase you want to be sure that the gain IS NOT turned up more than a 1/4 to between a 1/4 and 1/2. If it is turned up a 1/2 or more, the amp may get hot and shut off or burn out. I would go to speaker/amp retailers and ask them if they have your speakers (or something close to them) and ask if you could hear that with the amp you choose. Very important, be sure to bring the type of music that you are going to listen most and have them play it as you listen.

Gain is the output of the amp, how much the amp is pushing to the speakers.

Rule of thumb for amps, always buy an amp that doubles you speak up put. This way the amp won't burn out, the speakers are cheaper to replace.

With a 2 channel, read up about bridging, what it does. If you do bridge the amps suggested, BE SURE TO TURN THE GAIN ON THE AMP DOWN BEFORE BRIDGING.

BTW.. The T400 at the end of any amp is the watt output. Ohm level is the important part most for blowing speakers. 4 Ohms is stable 2 is less stable and 1 is least (less stable, greater chance of the speaker/amp burning out).

KB is right, 2channel or mono will work. And the power draw from your car is worth keeping an eye on.

I'd go 2 channel for ease of wiring setup (otherwise you're messing with series/parallel wiring & impedance loads etc).

Some Buying tips:

Look for around 400W/channel, Low pass filter, subsonic filter, good overload & thermal protection etc. Digital or 'class D' amps are the best for subs as they're more efficient.

I'd get a car audio shop to "tune" it for you, unless you want to give it a go yourself :-)

to buy the two subwoofers is going to be around $60 and up (each) then you'd need a box, amplifier, and wiring and if you think u cant do it a installer and thats pretty much it.

Buy a new one?
GMo @ 2009-03-27 10:00:57

Wow, that's a wealth of information to work with....

Since you didn't actually specify anything, I'm going to go out on a limb here, and guess.... based on the fact that its a CASSETTE deck, that its already pretty old. I havent even seen anything but CD decks in stores in a few years. You can even pick up a new CD deck for pretty cheap if you shop around (100 bucks and change?)...

If a head unit totally craps out (you havent given us much to diagnose here) there usually isn't much that can be "fixed", unless its a wiring issue. Unless you've taken it out and put it back for some odd reason, wiring isn't likely your problem here. So, if it is the head unit itself, it's one of those things that'll probably cost more to "have repaired" than it would to just go buy a new one.

Buy a new head unit... it'll work out of the box, and, having a CD player will catch you up with the technology of the 90's!

Speaker Wire: Rockford Fosgate 16 AWG

Rear Speaker: Pioneer 6x9

Door Speakers: Pioneer 6.5

I've had the sub for over a 2 years. Two to Three weeks ago i changed the wire inside the sub's PORTED box to 16AWG? possibly the problem? I'm running my 6x9's to one channel and sub to the other. Since i'm here might I also ask should i be using a ported box? Music was loud could I have just blown it out? Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!

Need expert advice on getting a new car stereo?
[Question]
I have a 1989 Volvo 740GL Sedan. It needs a new stereo, It currently still has the factory tape deck and only one speaker (driver side front door) works.

I don't want the whole "Pimp My Ride" stereo system. Just a nice simple system that is iPod compatable (I buy about one cd every two years). I don't need one that is extremely complicated. I would like one that kinda equalizes the songs for me as they're played so I'm not constanly fidgeting with it while I'm driving.

If I haven't given you all the info you need, please let me know and I'll update my question.

Thank you!

2ohm monoblock.

Just as a brand recomendation, Hifonics amps seem to work amazingly well. My brother just got one and it's a very clean sound. Pushes 2 L7's in his truck extreamly hard, he can actually blur your vision when your sitting in the truck. The price is quite reasonable for the quality as well.

KayC E @ 2009-03-26 09:06:19

if the speakers are 4 ohm and the amp is 2 ohm you will burn the amp up. i speak from experience. i sugest a 2 channel amp that is cappable of powering both of them so if you are wanting to run 2 speakers at 500 watts each buy a 2 channel 1000watt amp
noblesvilleplaya @ 2009-03-26 10:07:19

Nobles, you got it backward. A 4-ohm sub WILL NOT burn up a 2-ohm amp. Now the other way it could, a 2-ohm sub on a 4-ohm stable amp. Y

OP: You need either a mono block, with the sub of the subs RMS ratings, at 2-ohms; or a 2-channel, rated the same as your subs (eg: 250x2). Go by RMS and ignore peak.

williamvaughan68 @ 2009-03-26 10:56:36

[All Answers]
It's basically the same thing but I would recommend bridging a two channel amp because it gives you more flexibility in the future if you change your set up. If price is your only concern though then just do whatever is cheapest.
Joseph @ 2009-03-26 11:00:52

either size amp would do. Go with a mono block and bridge your sub in series (neg to neg & pos to pos) on the sub. Depending on the ohm of your sub if it's a 4ohm it'll become two and if it's two than it'become one to maximize the power of the amp that you are using.
silv3rdragon1 @ 2009-03-26 11:18:22

I would recommend a class D mono amp and wire it down to 2ohm. You will get the best bang for your buck that way.
Dustin @ 2009-03-26 11:21:00

Actually if you put positive to positive and negative to negative that would be wiring your sub in parallel.

There is a problem with the wiring connection inside the computer, where it is connected to the jack, most likely. That could explain why you are getting those weird messages.

If you don't have it then give a dealer a call, they should be able to tell you over the phone which one it is.
sixpak666666 @ 2009-03-25 07:29:34

Sometimes the back of the box lid has diagrams to tell you what the fuses are for.

You could pull each out in turn and look at which ones are blown as you will see where they have burned a little.

The owners manual should tell you what each number is for
TSCouriers @ 2009-03-25 07:46:32

the fuse box's cover has written the things on it...

and if you are using subwoofer then from the battery there should be a wire going towards ur amp...it has a tubular thing on it..that's the fuse...and if it is a blown check the error before changing it cause it could damage ur amp also
Ronak Ahuja @ 2009-03-25 08:40:03

Bridge each fuse out with some household fuse wire until the stereo comes on.You probably have blown an in line fuse that is located on the live feed wire to the stereo close to the stereo unit under the dash

Cara M @ 2009-03-25 04:47:08

It is a form of prejudice were you assume something about someone.

For instance one stereotype is, white people can't dance. another, all african-americans like watermelon.
Billy FZ1 @ 2009-03-25 04:47:34

Stereotype! Stereotypes are when people classify certain races, religions, or genders as being this way or that way. For instance, certain stereotypes could be such things as all Indians (Native Americans) are alcoholics, or all Mexicans are illegals, all white people are rednecks or trailer trash, all men are cheaters or all women are way to over emotional. You're assuming that just because this person is black, white, red, yellow or what ever religion that they are the same as everyone else who is the same color as them. Most people assume that Asians can't drive, that is a form of stereotype. Labeling all Asians as not being able to drive.
If Anything... @ 2009-03-25 04:47:54

it's "stereotype"

a stereotype is a way of saying everyone in one group (race, gender, age, etc.)

"All boys are stupid and inconsiderate"

where some of these stereotypes apply to a few people, it doesn't for most.

whats better 6x9 speakers or 6 and a half inch speakers for true stereo sound?
[Question]

Tabby K @ 2009-03-24 07:03:00

[Best Answer]If we're talking about installing these in the rear deck -- there really is no right or wrong answer.

Proper sound staging should be front-focused. Your rear speakers are there for rear-fill, they're not there to be the focal point of your system. With the direction the sound waves have to travel from your rear speakers - by the time you hear it, it's traveled in so many directions that it really doesn't matter if it was an oval or round speaker source whatsoever.
RPM @ 1237913470

[All Answers]
There is no clear answer. For example. Boston 6 1/2's are better than Pioneer 6x9's, but Pioneer 6x9's are better than Sony 6 1/2's.

It depends on brand and model.

Typically, you'll get a little better bass out of round speakers versus oval ones, but again, this cannot be the sole factor in judging.
Non Anon @ 2009-03-24 07:07:16

6x9 is always better atleast in my opinion.. boston acoustics all the way!
contrarytopopularbeliefiamnotgod @ 2009-03-24 07:07:41

component speakers or coaxials? if youre talking about coaxials, then it depends on the type of sound you are after. 6x9s are often used in place of a sub because they offer deep base due to their extra size. particularly when run off an amp. if you have a sub connected 6 and a halves or even 5 and a quarter size speakers should be sufficient and give a clearer, cleaner and crisper sound.

when it comes to component speakers, which are usually of a higher quality anyway, most are only available as either 5 1/4s or 6 1/2s anyway. and these will usually be of a higher quality then a coaxial regardless.

depends on budget, brand, application, and simply what sound you are looking for.

btw, personally i run alpine type r 5 1/4s front and rear with a twelve inch sub... running off a four channel amp for speakers and a mono amp for sub, cars been dynamatted and it is as clear, loud, and bassy as you could ask.

hope this helps
Aidan C @ 2009-03-24 07:46:30

Both sizes are equally capable of excellent sound quality. Which one sounds better is going to depend more on the individual speaker than on it's size. Listen to several models in both sizes and buy what sounds best, it could be either. If your vehicle is already fitted for 6x9's it really isn't worth changing to 6.5 unless your going for a component set. I've never seen 6x9's in a component set, although, I wouldn't be all too surprised if someone else could find one. Either a 6x9 component set, or maybe even a 6x9 plate, with a 5.25 component set in it.

Likewise, if your vehicle is fitted for 6.5 already, it really isnt worth modifying it for 6x9, when there are already so many good 6.5" choices out there.
travis m @ 2009-03-24 08:17:21

Extreme audio freaks will say that 6 1/2 round speakers are better because they develope true stereo sound. However to me the 6x9 sound louder and have a deeper bass sound. I think if you are going to have a sub-woofer go with the 6 1/2 if you are just getting the speakers use 6x9. Never use 6x9 in the front though.
Arturo P @ 2009-03-24 08:20:08

sigh

Ok leets break this down

6 1/2 speakrs : circular

6x9 oval

once again i bring up my take a calm pnd and throw a rock in it scenario... ripple effect... circular ripples

for true sound you want the 6 1/2 because thats the way a soundwave reacts...

how the hell do you make an oval soundwave?

reasons why i will NEVER buy 6x9s

pulled over for loud music?
[Question]
ok, so as I was driving through a long street i passed by a cop who had pulled over another vehicle, I passed through him and i had my music a little too high than normal... but I figured he would try to get me since he was in a traffic stop. But like 2 minutes later he catches up to me and follows me for about a mile and finally pulls me over. He stated that he pulled me over because I had loud music in the long street. When I recieved my ticked I noticed that he put that the violation occured at the place he stopped me.

1)Can I fight it? He put the wrong info and that means i get excused right?

2) Can't I just say while i passed through him i was not driving, my friend was but i dropped him off and got on the drivers seat, and thats when he caught up and pulled me over?

please help.

thanks.

PS. I wont ever play my music that loud again so, dont start. ;)
fehio @ 2009-03-24 09:46:45

[All Answers]
1) you CAN fight anything, but the bottom line is that you admit your music was too loud. if it comes down to your word against his, guess who the judge is going to believe.

2) you mean lie? probably don't want to add purgery to you list of offenses...

if a cop wants to pull you over, they will find a reason. Consider yourslf lucky that you only got a ticket for the music, and not a string of other ticky-tack offenses like lane violations, rolling a stop sign or 2, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, etc.

if I were you, i'd go to court, plead guilty, and act apologetic. you might get the fine reduced.
Chris R @ 2009-03-24 09:54:25

I'm so glad you aired your incident here on answers... Now maybe some of these other idiots who disturb my peace of mind and enjoyment will learn that with liberty come consequences. Usually your permitted to do what ever you want so long as it does not interfere with someone else frame of mind and peace. To answer your question; you don't have a leg to stand on. Pay the fine and be thankful it's not a moving violation; because if it was, you may have to play your music loud on a park bench.
denfasr @ 2009-03-24 09:57:59

That sux that you were discriminated against for your loud music. Cops are extremely racist and will pull over anyone playing music, typically rap, loud. Yet you will find that they rarely pull over and ticket harley davidson motorcycles with loud pipes or muscle cars with white people driving them. If I were you I would ride along all the motorcycles and muscle cars and than call the non-emergency police phone number with my cell phone. I would than tell them that the person driving the harly davidson has a pipe louder than 25 feet and you would like them ticketed. Dont give them your name, tell them you do not want to give them your name.
Payne @ 2009-03-24 09:58:54

it doesn't really matter what street it was on most of the time. A lot of localities have noise level limits. Its what they use to bust most house parties. They also have a similar set of laws set out just for mobile vehicles, they can apply them to exhaust or stereo. its really common. I wouldn't try to fight it myself, what street you were on had no bearing what so ever on the ticket.

If you told me that, and were telling the truth 100%, i wouldn't even believe you. People aren't really as dumb as you may be led to believe.
charlie5_7_0 @ 2009-03-24 10:05:06

You might protest it but it's your word against his so you know how that's going to come out.

what does a subwoofer do ?
[Question]
How do you use a subwoofer, what does it do, can you install it yourself, and where do you put in a car ? thankyouu :)
aprillouise~ @ 2009-03-24 09:47:45

[All Answers]
Sub woofers are basically low frequency speakers. They make that BOOM BOOM noise.

===

> can you install it yourself, and where do you put in a car ?

yes you can instll it yourself if you knew some electronics. But given you don't even know what it is (no offense) You should get a pro to do that.

And they usually install in the trunk - to block even more HIGH FREQ and get that extra low BOOM sound.

Good luck...
Lover not a Fighter @ 2009-03-24 09:54:12

yes...u just put them in the right size box and drill them in....u connect the wires to the amp and there u go
highjumper205 @ 2009-03-24 10:06:15

You might also need to install a new deck (cd player) that can function with the subs. The subs, which are normally in your trunk, are wired up to your deck and a separate amplifier (power source) and from there you just play your music like you normally do. I would suggest getting both your deck and subs installed professionally. Also you should only get subs if you REALLY want LOUD bass, otherwise if you just want better sound quality get better aftermarket speakers. Aftermarket decks also do well because most have their own amplifier built in therefor giving your speakers louder and better overall sound quality.
Kyle W @ 2009-03-24 10:09:14

Sub woofers are speakers designed to pick up low frequencies the regular speakers can't. Then lower the frequency the louder or more bass you will get. You can install them yourself, and they require to be mounted in a box, and they are usually fitted in the trunk, or rear cabin area.
Brian W @ 2009-03-24 10:28:43

you dont just hook them to an amp and go you need different kind of wires and a head unit or cd receiver your best goin to bestbuy and askin for help

kicker zx1500.1 help?
[Question]
i was wondering if the kicker zx1500.1 would push my two alpine type Rs 15" 750rms a piece???im looking for a good amp to push these two subs???thank you
chadwik @ 2009-03-23 06:19:39

[All Answers]
Kicker amps are definitely a good brand. They arent top of the line, but they will put out well over their rated power. You'll probably get about 1700 watts rms with that amplifier.
Charles W @ 2009-03-23 06:38:04

itll be fine

just remember the 1500watts is at 2ohms

your subs 750watts could be 4ohms i dont really know cas you didnt list the dependency of your subs

hope i helped peace XP
captain cavemaaaaaN hes da bomb @ 2009-03-23 06:38:19

If you have the dual 2 ohm subs, it'll be fine. If you have the dual 4 ohm subs, the ZX1500.1 will only put out 750W x 1 at a 4 ohm load.

If you have the dual 4 ohm subs - ideally you'll want to find an amp that can do about 1500W RMS at either a 1 or 4 ohm load.

I have kicker all the way around with a kenwood stereo. it's two 12 inch woofers with a 1500 watt amp its hits quiet nicely and ran me bout 1100 all total.
WarEagle!!! @ 2009-03-23 10:05:58

You could get alpine type r 12 inch subs they have an rms rating of 500, but I am putting 600 on each and have no problem. Check crutchfield.com and onlinecarstereo.com/ That is where I bought my stuff. Free shipping over 100 dollars.

Problems with my radio- 2006 Ford Focus?
[Question]
I've had this car for about 2 years now.... never had a problem with it yet until about a month ago. All of a sudden my radio will automatically shut off! I try pressing the power button to try to turn it back on but it says "Low Battery". Sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't. And whenever the radio comes back on it completely resets my clock and everything. What does this mean? Does it mean my car battery is low?????? As far as I know, car radios don't have batteries so it must be my car battery.

I don't know I drive a BMW 2009 750Li Sedan
Crest C @ 2009-03-23 07:09:15

It either means that your car battery is dropping below 9 volts when cranking or the battery power feed wire or radio ground wire has a bad connection somewhere. If the problem is happening while you are driving the car it is a wiring issue.
krazybob613 @ 2009-03-23 08:17:29

Is there a fuse in the fues box for the radio? If so, id check that or just replace it. Could be a bad connection somewhere making it flicker on and off.

OR if the memory wire has a fuse and that has gone totally then it would still work but not hold memory

you can buy the kit at NAPA or any other auto parts store. Might even be able to find them at walmart.

They are cheap. the socket must be grounded to any metal surface or a ground wire attached. the power supply goes to your fuse box.

send e-mail if you still have questions.

Order on line or find in your local auto parts store. Also available with an under dash bracket. Use bracket or drill a hole in your dash. Install outlet. Hook wire up to the accessory fuse on your fuse block.

you might have too much treble or the equalizer might be broken.
maximushyrule @ 2009-03-22 11:41:51

Could be one of many things. Are you sure you have a signal through the RCAs? Is it low enough in voltage? Did you skip past the factory amp 1st? You could check an RCA lead with a multimeter. It should jump around between .1 and 4 volts when playing.

He W @ 2009-03-22 11:42:35

I had a similar problem and tried my damnedest to get it to work for weeks. In the end it ended up being a faulty amp. I would return it and get a new one, this will save you alot of frustration.
salbjorn @ 2009-03-22 11:43:36

Are all of the wires connected properly? Are they good? Sometimes the wiring will be bad when you purchase it, which could be a problem. Also, did you change out the head-unit when you installed the subs in your car? They may not be compatible with your head unit. Also, your head unit or battery may not be storing enough power to power your amp/subs...in which case you may need a capacitor if you don't have one.
There are a lot of scenarios as per why it might not be working, you just have to ask yourself every possible question about why its not working, and if none of that fixes the problem, you may need to take it to a specialist.
alhorblitt @ 2009-03-22 11:43:54

you may need to go have your system looked at this is similar to what happend to my subs in my integra. i took it to a shop and they fixed it. you may have to much treble or the equalizer might be broken also though just go get it looked at

Trunk lock rattles.....any ideas to get it to stop?
[Question]
I have two powerful Infinity subs and my trunk used to rattle really bad. Well and few rubber washers and a little moving around of wires took care most of the big stuff. The only last thing that's really making a lot of rattling is coming from the trunk lock. I have an 02 ford taurus. So does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem????? And no, turning down the radio isn't an option.

Reason why is that I used to hate it when people would pull up next to me at a stop light and all I would hear would be their car rattling. My car still rattles but nothing really loud and annoying.... other than the trunk lock. So any ideas would be very helpful. Oh, and I don't want go out and spend a bunch of money on a dampening package.
