Will switching out my 2008 Civic head unit for a 2006 XM Ready head unit give me XM?
[Question]
I own a 2008 Civic Coupe EX. I purchased a 2006 Civic Hybrid head unit to replace my 2008 unit. The 2006 head unit has the “XM/AUX” button on it and the “MP3 (((XM Ready))) WMA” writing below the display. My 2008 head unit does not say XM or XM ready anywhere on the unit. I thought I could switchout the 2006 XM Ready head unit and then activate the XM radio. After investigating further—I am questioning whether I still must purchase and install the Honda XM Satellite Radio unit (P/N 08A15-3J1-000) and the other parts that go along with it??
[All Answers]
yea your good
I think you will still need to purchase an xm receiver.
As far as I know, "XM Ready" means that your head is ready to equipped with a receiver that will interface with the head itself, rather than being a separate unit. I'm pretty sure you have to buy a receiver rather than just activating XM service.

How do I listen to my iPhone in my car?
[Question]
I have an '05 neon and it just has the factory stereo so it does not have an auxiliary thing. What would I have to buy to be able to listen to my iPhone through my car stereo?
[All Answers]
You can pick up a FM transmitter that'll connect to the dock connector on the iphone.
Or you can pick up a generic FM transmitter that will connect to the headphone jack.

Hooking up Ipod to Car WITHOUT Cd player?
[Question]
Is this possible? What would I have to buy? How much would it cost? Would it be cheaper to just have a CD player installed?
[All Answers]
Go to the store and get an external f.m. transmitter for your IPOD. Cost varies on style. Well worth it, i have one in each of my cars.
(refer to my best answer regarding 2005 toyota)
Go to Walmart and in the automotive section, they will have mp3 converters that run on radio waves. They cost about $30.00. All you have to do is tune the converter to the same cchannel as your car's radio.
If your car has a tape player there are ipod converters that you can put in the tape player and then plug in it into your ipod's headphone jack. I'm not sure of price or where you can get it, but I got one for Christmas and it works just fine.
go to dollar store get cassete head adapter it have head insted of tape ,throw cassete in ur car deck on other side their is pin same as ur headphone for your ipod, hook it up and ur good to go
Total cost $1.12 ($1.00 +gst+pst)
FM transmitters suck, you lose a lot of quality in the process. I'd go to Walmart, get a new deck for my car for like 50$ (one with a line in AND a CD player) and get it installed. For under 100$ you'll be set.

doesn't matter1 a new in the box radio should have screws...unless it requires a installation kit..[many do]
2 save them anyway
if its a non standard radio ur fitting dont worry about the screws the new one comes with a "cage" with tags that u bend out so thieves cant nick the main part of the radio. the new radio comes with removal pins to take the radio out if required

Need help fast, car audio wiring...please?
[Question]
Heres the setup i have 2 memphis 15's with a kenwood 1800w amp, my problem is i wired the car myself which my buddie who works at an audio store said it looked correct ive had it play music but when i turn it up not loud but a little the fuse in the disturber box by the battery blows so i upgraded a bigger fuse "100amp" but it is still blowing..i think the problem is that i have 2 gauge wire from the battery to the disturber box..could that be it? should i lower the gauge of wireing just there then continue it after the box?
[All Answers]
I think two gauge should be fine.
My amp is rated at almost 1900rms on the birth sheet and I'm only using 4guage. I think you might need a bigger fuse because my amp draws close to 200 amps, so I use a 200 amp fuse.
You might want to figure out exactly how much current you should be pulling to be sure you have a big enough fuse.
The purpose of the fuse is to protect the wire not to protect your amp. The only exception is when there is not a built in fuse on your amp.
Saying that, you should choose a fuse based on the size wire you are using. 2 gauge wire can handle up to 225A so you can safely add up to a 225A fuse. 4 gauge wire can handle up to 150A so you could safely fuse up to 150A with 4 gauge wire. Your fuse should be at least as big as the fuses on your amp (added value if there is more then one fuse).
If your fuses are still blowing after that then you have a short somewhere in your wiring. Check all of your connections and make sure everything looks okay.
Good Luck!!!

all wiring is there and everything is in place, and i had a friend help me with it and he hooked every thing up good so the only thing we can think of is either the amp is bad or the paint were we placed the ground is screwing it up

More than likely it's the ground. You may need to move the ground so that it is contacting bare metal and a non-painted surface.
If there are any fuses on the amp or the wiring, make sure they're not blown.

09 Toyota Corolla Head Unit Removal?1?

I'm trying to install my amp in my 09 Corolla, but cant figure out how to remove the factory head unit. There is too much plastic covering everything. If someone could explain the process to me, or link me to a website that explains it, or best yet, send me pictures of the process, that would be great! I know there's some stuff out there about the removal of Corolla head units, but that's all on older models.
Thanks for any help!

You may be able to contact Crutchfield and buy a set of instructions from them. They normally furnish those free if you buy your components from them, but their instructions are illustrated and very detailed.
