Your basically screwed, unless you can find a face on ebay. Your other option would be to contact Pioneer and hope that they can do something for you.

dual voice coil of different ohms makes the sub more flexible in the sense that there are more options for an amp

Actually, the DVC subs offer more options for wiring than SVC subs do. Other than that, nothing.

DVC has more wiring options but can also eliminate other wiring options. The common ohm loads for car subs are 8, 4, 2, 1, and sometimes even .5 ohms. The higher the ohms the more resistance in the electrical current. But if you have an amplifier that can send your rated rms wattage to the speaker at a 4 ohm load then it will sound a little better than a 2 ohm setup. The higher the impedance the better the sound quality. Lowering the impedance will start to reduce some sound quality but will increase the efiiciency 2X. I like 4 ohms because I am a sq freak. But 2 ohms is usually fine for most. It will also save you money in amplifiers.

bunkerbuster, learn about the products that your talking about, until then stop giving advice on things that you know nothing about.

All that the cap is going to do for you is stiffen your voltage, help keep is stable, that is all. You should however look into doing the big 3 upgrade. The high output alternator is not need at this point. You really do not need 3 amps, a 4 channel and a mono block would suffice, unless your running them on different subs. If that is the case I hope that I never hear your system.

wiring in parallel and series gives you flexibility when choosing an amp



choosing an amp to do 1000W rms @ 4ohms would cost ALOT more than an amp that can do 1000W rms @ 1ohm in parallel
