Can I use a 6 ohm reciever with a 8 ohm speaker?
[Question]
am thinking on buying a home theater system that is a 6 ohm system and want to know if it is safe to use on a 8 ohm speaker? Are there any modification I can do to like put a resistor between the two like they did with car systems and converting them with home speakers?
Thanks in advance.
[All Answers]
just get an 8 ohm system because 6 isn't very common. the only 6 i've ever seen are some RCA systems.
It's perfectly safe to use an 8-ohm speaker with an amplifier rated for 6 ohms. The 6-ohm rating is meant as a minimum impedance rating. If you use a higher impedance, it won't do any harm except for reducing the power output slightly. You don't want to use a lower impedance, because it could result in overheating the amplifier. Also, don't connect an 8-ohm speaker in combination with a 6-ohm speaker; just use one or the other.

stereo speaker question?
[Question]
well i got this stereo its a panasonic its 450w and i wanted to know if i can connect 800w speakers to it i dont know if they will connect or not so i was wondering because i want the music to hear a lil bit more with the noise the speaker makes not the tweeter so please help if you know
[All Answers]
they will connect
but connecting a higher watt speaker to an output and only produces the same watt wont make it louder
the stereo is still sending the same amount of watts as it would if you had a 500 watt or 900 watt speaker

cb radio question PLEASE ANSWER!!!?
[Question]
I have the Cobra 19 Ultra III Citizen Band Radio cb radio and i am wanting to be able to mount it in my house because my other car has one and i want one for the house anyway i need links from radioshack or anywhere on products to get this system to work in my house everything i need please list or give me links please i need this in my house
[All Answers]
you need a house
Ok, your best bet is to find a local CB shop to help you out. They can get you a base antenna and all the cable you'll need. You also need a 12 volt power supply. You can find that at any radio shack or truck stop. The truck stop will also have a cord that will plug in to a cigarette lighter and the back of your CB for power. If your ever in Corning, California, stop by Smileys CB shop. He can hook you up with anything you need. I believe he also has a web site and if you call him, he can do phone orders as well. I have never heard anything bad about this guy, and can tell you he does great work. You might want to get a better radio while your out there.
Easy I used to run a mobile radio from my house for years back in the 90's, all you need is to get a good high amperage 12 volt power supply that connects to your house mains power, I used to have a 4 amp power supply years ago which did the job on my AM and SSB CB radio but I think if you are putting out alot more watts from your cb then maybe get a 10 amp power supply to handle the output of your cb radio, and then just get yourself a good quality coaxial cable if your going to run the antenna far away from where the cb will be sitting it's a good idea to get the thicker cable it costs more but has less signal loss in long runs, and the last thing your going to need is a home base cb radio antenna, you might also need to get a steel pole of some sort to mount somewhere near the house or onto the side of the garage and then you can bolt your cb antenna to the top of this you should be able to purchase a mounting kit for the cb antenna aswell it's just a couple of specially designed U-bolts and brackets to suit the cb antenna and mount it to the metal pole, you should be able to pick up most of these parts from a radio shack or an electronics shop or go into a 2 way radio shop as they will know more about what you need and probably have the parts for you aswell...hope this helps

Alpine CDA-9885 has no audio for iPod or CD?
[Question]
I recently installed this head unit in my friends intrepid, after he had been using it in his bronco for about a year. When we got finished with everything we realized that when we hook an ipod or put a cd in, it has no audio. It recognizes both and shows that they are playing, and also lets you go through the functions perfectly. Just no audio. The tuner however has perfect audio so we know it has nothing to do with speaker wiring. We have unplugged everything and let it set multiple times and nothing works, if anyone has any suggestion, they will be appreciated.
[All Answers]
You may want to take the head-unit back out and double check every wire, especially if you're using a wiring harness you bought from a store.
What happens a lot of times with these wiring harnesses is that they leave out certain wires, causing certain functions to be disabled. This happened to me before installing a CDA-9884 in my sisters car - I took it back out and found that a wire was missing in the wiring harness.
If that fails, give Alpine a call, they may be able to help you. Hope this helps!
