Playing iPod in my car?

I just bought my first car (yayy!!) and I wanted to know how I can connect my iPod to the sound system so I can play it while I drive. I don't have a cassette player, and I don't have an auxiliary plug, that I can see. And I heard that cigarette lighter adapters only charge your iPod, that you can't play your iPod through that; is that true? I have a CD player but I don't want to have to carry around 09230490 CDs with me! Help! Thank you=)
It's a 2000 Honda Civic. I also forgot to say, I don't really want to spend a whole lot of money.. Will I be able to get anything around $20? Or is that impossible? =/

in your situation, I will recommend a new radio that is made for ipod connection. its just a normal radio but with the capability of connecting an ipod and usually a touch screen comes with it. if you can write down the make , model of the car, then i can recommend you a radio.

How can I clean CD player on 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee? It plays some CDs, but won't others.?

Some CDs, play fine. Others won't play at all, it shows 'ERR' on screen. The ones that won't play in Cherokee player work fine in other house and car stereos. It's like it isn't reading CD. Is there any way to fix this? Will cleaning work? If so, how do I clean player?

If you wnt to clean the player.............Go to radio shack and buy a small bottle of electronics cleaner. It will have a small straw on the can like WD40. Shove that little straw in the deck and spray it. It dries quickly and is made for electronics so don't worry. Spray left , right . up and down. I'm telling you it eveporates quickly and clean. It's also non conductive - no worries. Can clean your computer keyboard, anything electronic.

The rason it's not playing is something called "sampling rate". Car stereos can be 8:1 or maybe 16:1. Home CD players are much higher and of better quality when reading CD's. MAny home CD players are 32:1 maybe more.

Sampling is when it looks at the music and see a difference in what it thought was right and a small error. It says how many were the same and how many were different at the sample rate. Lets say its 8:1. It looks at 8 "bits" in the stream. 5 were one way and you hit some dirt / scratch and 3 were another. 5 is better than 3 , play the stream using the 5. If the 5 bits were the dirt , than it plays that b/c 5 is greater than 3.

Better sample rate ,better chance that the "music" will be the higher correct data to play and hence higher sensitivity to the music data stream.

See if your computer can read it and burn a new one for the car. They are not indestructable you know. What your experienceing is normal and I bet even after cleaning you will still have the same problem. Find something or someones computer that will play them and then burn another.



Car stereos will generally play all WMA formatted music. But NOT MP3 format, or even MP4.Soem new after market will play all formats. I doubt the CD player that came with the vehicl plays ANYTHING but WMA. Thay are just cheap players , that's all.My sisters Honda will only play WMA formatted CD's. Check what format the music is first. You can google music format converters and run it thru that, back to WMA format and burn it. WMA format takes much more space so only about 12 songs per CD. MP3 format - about 40 songs. Reading the CD on the computer will tell you what format it is using.

When burning CDs on your computer, you'll need to add the CD text.

Easiest way to do that is using iTunes to burn audio CDs, and making sure that option is checked.

I would go with the audiobahn if these were the only two choices, just because it sounds like this gut really took good care of the system. Those visonik subs are cheap! If you want visonik go with the bandpass combo.
