no no no no no sir. shows how people try there best to rip others off, this bow could be duplicated for about 40 dollars and a little work, not hard at all.
Theres no way i would pay 120 dollars for a box, i got mine at a local flea market for just 10 dollars. i know not a great place and all but its a cash saver.
The quality of the box is very good. If you are not too satisfied with the sound, you can add foam similar to that used to ship items. You should use a big piece of foam and place it inside the box then mount the subwoofer.

is my car amp screwed?
[Question]
okay so this evening i had plans on making a box for my subs, but as always i wanted some tunes. so i go to turn on my system but for some strange reason my amp didnt kick on. so i went straight to my battery to check for a blown fuse. but it wasnt. so i went to check on my amp confused. i looked at it no power at all, nothing. so i checked my ground to find it lose. so i took the bolt off of it which is the bolt hold my seatbelt to the chasis. when i did this still nothing with the amp. then when i pressed the ground back to the chasis it spark a little but no fuses blown or anything but then it started smoking. freaked me out so i took it off the chasis. then trying to get power again, nothing... so i decided to ground it under my seat, and after doing this it kicked on and started playing. but seconds after blew a fuse on the amp and then smoked again. fuse after fuse was blown and now here i sit in complete confusion not knowing what the hell happened. help?
i have 4 guage power wire, which is correct for the amp. just took the top off of it and it seems like the ground plate for it (the 4 metal pieces bolted to the side of the amps inside) is burnt. bu only one is damaged. maybe i can save it.
[All Answers]
Chances are the amp is fried. Before you buy a new one you should turn all of the amp settings to the lowest possible setting and try turning the amp on. If the amp continues to blow the fuse you can try using a thicker power cable.

Can I install custom lights inside my car ?
[Question]
I have 2006 Mazda 3.
I was wondering can I install blue color lights inside my speedometer, so when I drive at night they'll light up. So all my lights in my dash board will blue color.
[All Answers]
From what I know, as long as it is not visible to people outside of the vehicle it is fine. Blue light is typically restricted only to police (which is why you are probably asking), but as long as it is something only you can see, cause its aesthetic to you, then it is probably ok.
Yea you can do this simply by purchasing blue spedometer lights, (google it) but make sure there not to bright. you will get pulled over.

How do you wire a Mono Amp to 2 Subs?
[Question]
I have 2 Kicker CVR 12"s and am running a 2 channel amp now, but is it better to run a mono amp, if so how do you wire it specifically??
[All Answers]
personally i would stick with a 2 channel. mono amps would require you to hook them both to a single channel which most likely isn'tt all that safe, but can be done. if you decide to go for it, just put both speaker wire to the positive and neg. post on the amp. simple
simple, wire the two subs in parallel. i mean hook both of the positives of the subs together and hook up to the positive output on your amp and hook both of the negatives of the subs together and hook that up to the negative terminal on your amp. This will give you the maximum output and the most volume for that set up.

What is the db of the average loud car stereo? Eg: one sub and 4 speakers?
[Question]
[All Answers]
I would guess probably around the 90-100 db range.
My mum's WRX had I think 120dB with two Focal speakers in the front, two Eclipse speakers in the back, and a Rockford PUNCH sub in the boot, so I'd say within the 100-120dB for the average 4-speaker + sub setup. Mind you the setup in the Rex could go louder. It all depends on what your speakers are capable of and how much they'll take before they blow up.

you cant fix it you need a new speaker. the quality of speaker is up to you. just remember you get what you pay for. i would recommend amping your speakers to help prevent this from happening again

yea its not the room u can fit it in there just not for that price unless u wanna buy some cheap subs and amps

Wiring Car Audio Need help?
[Question]
i just got an alpine cda 9884(6 channel). my car has 6 speakers and i want to put in 2 subs with a mono amp is it possible to wire the 6 speakers and the 2 subs? speakers: 2 3 1/2. 2 5 1/2. and 2 6x9s.
[All Answers]
Sure. It's a typical practice that a mono signal is derived from the left channel of the stereo. You can use an RCA "Y cable to split the signal to the mono amp.
It's also typical practice to use a heavy guage wire from the battery (fuse no more than 18" from battery w/same rating as the sum of ALL fuses on both amps) to a distrobution block where two smaller guage wires run to each amp for power.
Ground both amps to the same location to prevent ground loops and keep ground wires as short as possible. The ground wires should be the same size as the power wires to each amp.

was connecting subs to the amp and it was on. the positive wire was connected and the negative touched the amp its self and sparked and everything in my truck turned off and the amp cut off so i turned my truck off then back on and the amp came back on except when i did that my subs just started hitting constantly and the volume was on 0. so i was like wtf happened. so i unplugged everything and screwed the wires back on and it worked ok but theres still constant thumping when its even turneddown to 0 not rly sure what happened or whats happening cuz i turned it up and it just started messin up again and not even hittin to the music

You ignored the the #1 rule - Disconnect ONE wire from the battery before you do ANY wiring in the car. Make the battery connection the LAST connection made AFTER you've checked everything.

Help playing iPod through car ?
[Question]
Well I don't know much about what I'm doing.
But in my 240sx there's an old 3rd party sterio installed. I want to play my music and I have a cord that looks like the audio plugs for tv's with a plug foe the iPod. But can I install that on the sterio?
Like in the back? I've never seen the back of the sterio.
Also what do I need to do to get the sterio out of the dash? My dad thinks we need to pull out the whole dash.
So how can I remove it?
[All Answers]
I don't know about plugging in an ipod in an older stereo. Idon't think It will work.
I bought an FM transmitter. Target has a good one for 89.00 by Belkin. You plug it into the cigarette lighter and plug in the IPOD and them tune your radio to the same station number and it plays. Works great.
I found the best thing since sliced bread...http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9oDEWuNVIo6/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=142FMMOD01
It's not wireless so there's no interference. Not to be confused with an FM transmitter. Basically it adds an AUX input to ANY radio. No searching for a clean channel.
It feeds your audio signal from a headphone jack ( or RCA cables) by FM modulation, directly into the antenna input on your radio bypassing the antenna when on, allowing the radio to work as normal when off. It comes with an On/Off switch.
This is the answer. Totally versatile.

You may find what you need here http://www.installdr.com/InstallYourself.html to remove the stereo.
the cheapest way to do this is a adaptor that you could get from most any electronic store. you could also buy a new deck that had a usb port or audio in jack but that will be more expensive. As for looking at the back of the deck that's in there now... im not familiar with your 240sx but im guessing there is plastic around it that can pop of but be carefull not to break off any pieces on the inside then its just a few screws and its out. if its a stock deck im pretty sure it doesnt have a place for the ipod to plug in. i would say get a adaptor unless your willing to spend alot more money.
First: look at the brand name of the deck (stereo) and go online and download the owerers manual and see if the deck has a AUX option
if it dosnt then your SOL on your attempt.
Second: go to best buy or somewhere that does car audio and ask them if they have a key to pull the deck. more than likly they will either give you the key which is a little piece of metal. or they will just pul it for you.
Third: you will need to find the input for the deckand plug in your ipod to the other end.
Fourth: select the AUX option, replace deck into your dash, enjoy
hope this helps

15" mtx 5500 vs 15" MA Audio HK150XC wich will hit harder?
[Question]
[All Answers]
Based on the specifications from each of the manufacturer's website and from past experience, I would recommend the HK159XC. The MA Audio has double the wattage of the MTX sub, but for sensitivity (which is very important in the sub's efficiency) the 5500 supercedes the MA Audio sub. Either sub will do you justice, and of course it also depends on the amp. A great sub can be pissed down the drain by an inefficient amplifier. Don't forget about the enclosure design, too. I think your best bet would be the HK159XC; it will deliver the most bang for the buck.
the subwoofer with the higher sensitivity rating will be the louder one at a certain power level. and a 3db increase would require double the power.
so a subwoofer with a sensitivity of 86db will need twice the amount of power of a sub with a sensitivity rating of 89db to be just as loud.

Jonathan M @ 2009-01-31 20:31:21
[All Answers]
Based on the specifications from each of the manufacturer's website and from past experience, I would recommend the HK159XC. The MA Audio has double the wattage of the MTX sub, but for sensitivity (which is very important in the sub's efficiency) the 5500 supercedes the MA Audio sub. Either sub will do you justice, and of course it also depends on the amp. A great sub can be pissed down the drain by an inefficient amplifier. Don't forget about the enclosure design, too. I think your best bet would be the HK159XC; it will deliver the most bang for the buck.
car.audio @ 2009-01-31 21:17:07
the subwoofer with the higher sensitivity rating will be the louder one at a certain power level. and a 3db increase would require double the power.
so a subwoofer with a sensitivity of 86db will need twice the amount of power of a sub with a sensitivity rating of 89db to be just as loud.

is this a good amp to power my sub?
[Question]
is a mono alpine PDX-1.000 good 2 power a 12 inch alpine type x at 4OHM voice coils
[All Answers]
Its the amplifier that is built for the type X subwoofer, that is why alpine even makes a 1000 watt RMS amplifier.
So yes its perfect!
if you have 2 at 4ohm DVC, that means you will need 2000W rms of power, which means you will need 1 amp that does 2000W rms
although that amp is good it will under power both subs by 500W rms, so therefore i tell you, get the dual 2ohm type x and get 2 pdx1000's and wire each in parallel to achieve 1 ohm loads on both to power each sub up to 1000W rms
have any other questions feel free to IM or email me.
good luck with your system!

My car is pretty decent set up
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3164590
4 JL W3's
actually 153 Db is not low output.
they are decent but only for the really low db output if you want to be able to set off car alarms 20 foot away like me lol you should try 2 w7s with a 2000 watt mono-block class d amp each as fr decks pioneer they are guaranteed 4 life i would also recommend getting safety glass for your windows grand total of about $2500 if you go to Gibraltar trade center in mt. clemens and mr windshield or any other windshield place
basically i would get almost all kicker stuff
3 kicker solo x 18" in a ported box
3 warhorse amps
alpine type r component speakers
zx 120x4 watt amp for speakers
any sick deck
were talking tons of money here lol not to mention the alternator to power this beast

replacing stock speakers with Infinity Reference 6022i...?
[Question]
i really know nothing about car audio. i am going to replace the rear stock speakers in my 1996 Toyota corolla with Infinity Reference 6022i (which are power range: 2-60 watts RMS (180 watts peak power)
whatever that means...). and my current stereo in my car is a pioneer DEH-P4800MP witch says 50W x 4.
I have quite a few questions...
will the speakers work vary with my current stereo or will i have to buy an amp?
what does peak power mean? and what does peak power mean??
really if someone can point me out to a guide or page that explains all these terms.
THANK YOU ALL, ANY AWNSER THAT EXPLAINS ANY PART OF MY QUESTION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED
i also want to replace my front spwakers would Fusion EN-FR4020 speakers work(120watt peak power)
and one last question since my sterio puts out 50W to each speaker does that mean it would be impossible to blow my new speakers?
[All Answers]
yeah itll all work
just plug and play.
i would reccomend going to aomewhere like auto zone and finding a general repair book on your car
i think the brand is HAYNES youll just have to find like 95-00 corolla. itll be like $15 but itll really help alot for when you have to take the door pannel off to get to the speakers.
but yeah it really dosnt matter with speakers your gennerally just fine with whatever. i just replaced all 4 speakers in my car. i put 2 6x9 pioneers in the back and 2 5.25 fusion speakers in the doors and it sounds pretty damn good. especially with my subs in the trunk

What is the point of a subwoofer box?

And what are OHMS and stuff like that about a car audio with subwoofers and tweeters and all that. Just like an idiots guide to setting up car audio system.

To woof subs.

What is the point of having a cover on your xbox? Whats the point of having a container for peanuts?
Those may not be good examples. But subwoofers need and ENCLOSED area with no air. If subwoofers were placed alone it will damage them and it wont be any good.
to raise up the bass on you sound system
great if you got some techno, hip hop, or any other song you want to put some nice bass into it

box helps the soundwaves to bounce within the box to create harder bass. tweeters are tiny speakers in corner of daash but there loud and improves vocal and musical quality.
wow, what are you like 16. ha. Match the ohms with whatever your using. You need an amplifier. The boxes for the subwoofer just changes the sound it makes, it can be ported or not which will also change sound. Just read alot online. Or find a friend who can help.
a woofer pumps up the bass and tweeters kick out the jams MAN! but no... all i know is woofers is for real bassy stuff and i assume tweeters, by their name, are the opposite. OHMS i think are just how many decibels
the subs will give you the signature base found in a lot of rap and dance songs, the tweeters will give you the treble found in a lot of pop music, they compliment each other, it all really depends on what you listen too, and how loud you want to listen to it...
The sound waves from the rear of a speaker are 180 degrees out of phase with the sound waves from the front and will tend to cancel each other out if simply placed in open air.
Ohms indicate the impedance or load that the speaker places on the amplifier and should be matched to the amplifier's out put terminals.
Tweeters are the very high frequency speakers used to help produce a full spectrum of sound.
So you can get a 14y.o. girlfriend easier. Nothing is more ridiculous than a car that's worth less than it's stereo & nobody thinks any bigger of those who think it makes up for a tiny penis. Two 6x9's & two 6's will provide all the noise you're ears can handle & won't weigh your car down or drain your battery.
subwoofer box acts like a drum, if you only beat on a piece leather you won't get any sound at all but when stretched over something hollow you hear a beat. the air in the box vibrates from the subs then the box acts like a drum. OHMS are a way of measuring the strength of subwoofers, tweeters are basically for treble (higher pitched sounds in music) I may be wrong so you may want to do other research, but I tried to help

How you load an amp determines the amount of power out.
There is a trade off though, the lower the impedance (ohms) the more power is pushed as well as higher distortion and more heat is generated. The excessive heat will shorten the life of the amp.
For best overall performance, it's far better to get a higher powered amp and load it with 4 ohms than a lower powered amp and force it to push more power with a lower impedance (2 or less ohms) load.
It's pointless, waste of money
You have to have an enclosure for a sub. If it is in open air, it will produce no bass. It is called cancellation, which is the front sound waves meeting the rear sound waves. There are subs made for free-air, or open air, mounting, but you have to mount them to a baffle, or piece of wood sheeting, then mount that in the trunk. That setup uses the trunk as the enclosure.
Ohms is the impedence the sub (or any speaker) presents to the amp (HU internal or an external amp). The lower the ohm (2-ohm vs 4-ohm) the less resistance, and the more power the amp produces. That is why you will see an amp rated at, say, 100 watts x 2 @ 4-ohms and 150 watts RMS x 2 @ 2-ohms.
Subwoofers play sub bass frequencies, generally 50 Hz and lower. Then woofers; midbass; midrange; and tweeters.
Pioneer has that gimmick of "super tweeters" on a 4-way. That is a marketing ploy. A good 2-way is all that is needed. A 2-way has a woofer cone and a tweeter. A 3-way has a woofer cone, a midrange driver, and a tweeter- all in one housing. 6x9 3-ways are an example.
