What would be a good song to really test my new subwoofer?
[Question]
I got a new subwoofer and have been playing mainly snoop dogg and dr. dre songs. Does anyone know what songs I should play on it that will really make my sub pumpin'

Heh....that one from Sooper Troopers when the guy is in the Porsche. It's like.... Bibidi something.... Just search for the movie and I'm sure you'll find it. It's got some pretty crazy bass.
either 'gansta music' by young jeezy, or 'world war 3' by jay-z! but dont forget to wear new subs in first! if you dont then you can ruin the coils and suspension in the subs, recommend giving it a few days useage before pumping, but these songs set of car alarms!
also try 'life aint a game' by ja rule and 'what you know' by T.I.
thug motivation 101 - young jeezy, woofer cooker - boston acoustics, put on - young jeezy, and probably my favorite for bass testing, Under The Influence - The Chemical Brothers

I bought a 1995 Jeep Charokee Sport. Everything works just fine except for the radio?
[Question]
I NEED the radio. The radio can turn on and I can scan through the stations and everything, I'm just not getting any sound. I don't know which wire to look at to see if everything is connected or not. So has anyone got any suggestions?
[All Answers]
the positive wire. itll be on the right nob of each speakers hook up
Why don't you take it to an electrician, i am sure he would know what to do better than you & me, coz we may damage instead of fixing.
Good luck.
probably blown speakers...there should be four screws for each speaker...take each speaker out and look for any tears in the black cardboard-like material or look for burn marks on the magnets...replacements are pretty cheap, about $10-20 per speaker.
I've seen this before! Check the back of the radio, and make sure that the Speakers wires are pluged into the back of the radio(should be a blue plug). Also check the speaker wires close to the back of the radio, in case the last owner spliced the wires. Last, the prev. owner may have fumbled the wiring, and fed power back into the radio; and blew out the audio finial's in that case, you have a choice to have the radio professionally checked out by your nearest chrysler dealer, or you can replace it with an after market radio, or you can check with a auto salvage yard for an identical radio(but you need to have them test it in front of you, BEFORE you lay out the cash!), Last resort, purchase a replacement radio from the dealer(be prepaired to fork out some ching!!!). Good Luck!

car stereo help (easy 10 pts)?
[Question]
ok so i recently got a sirius radio for my truck, and it is hooked up to the auxiliary for sound. and when its on and i go to shift or go faster it sounds like you can here the transmission through my stereo. that only happens when its plugged into the aux. please help?? 10 pts best answer
[All Answers]
jvcs are da bomb
Try a shorter aux cable its picking up a signal from somewhere. Or it could be you hooked up a head unit wrong if its not your stock one.
Sounds like you have ignition(electrical) noise! You need to get a filter(ie. capacitor). Go you your local auto store, ie. auto zone* (* Auto zone is just a suggestion.), and explain your situation, and they should know what to do. If all else fails, you can either call, or email sirius(I'm sure that you arn't the only one who's had this problem!). Good Luck!

will i need to upgrade my alternator?
[Question]
i want a zx2500.1.. but i don't want to upgrade the alt. can i just oust a Battery instead?
[All Answers]
No.
If you do that, both batteries will need a way to charge thus both must be connected to an alternator. An extra battery will store power but it still needs a way to recharge. When ever you load down your system with a large amp or amps, it is always good to upgrade the alternator if you have the means to do so!
An extra battery would actually be more stress on your alternator. It would just be an extra component that the electrical system would have to deal with. Alternators are designed to provide enough power to power everything in the vehicle and still provide a charge to the battery, they don't put out a set amount of power, it varies by what's powered in the car.
A capacitor would be a good idea with such a powerful amp though. But . . . in the end you'd probably just be putting off the inevitable, factory alternators aren't meant to pump out that much power, it'll die and need to be replaced, that's when to throw the upgrade in.
Well the answer no you don't need to change the alternator. That's a last resort . A second battery will help such as the optima model D31M will work nicely .Now to be a myth buster. First: It doesn't put stress on the factory alternator that's nonsense. Second: You don't have to run new wires to the alternator. That's nonsense. You can run a new 4 gauge wire from the output of the alternator to the factory to the positive of the factory battery but you don't have to. Factory alternators are designed to run everything the car . Yes but they were designed to run under extreme load conditions. This means everything in the car is turn on at once. Lights , wipers, radio ,ac , windows ect working at once.Next myth the alternator dose have a set output it's not adjustable . It put's out about 14.4 volts + or - a few millionths of a volt. at in most cases 96 to 125 amps. The regulator in the alternator controls this , The more load the more current is make available to run the new load. An to keep the battery charged. Next myth a capacitor is not the magic fix. The cap does have some pluses . First: it will help square up the dc wave so your amp will see a clean dc power this will help your amp work smarter not harder . By doing this the efficiency of your will go up.The next cap myth it doesn't store power. It does charge an discharge but it only takes a sec or two for this to cycle. If you doubt this take some pics with a flash see how long it takes between flashes. It does help to filter the dc wave so that the voltage the amp see's is a true dc square wave this will help the amps power supply to work more efficient so the works smarter not harder. As for the voltage drop across the cap . If you supply 12.6 volts then the cap may show 12.3 volts a deference of 3 millavolt. Not enough to even be noticed . Learn ohm law. As voltage increases then current decreases. This is why a amp that works on 12.6 volts will need more current to work efficient than a amp that works on 14.4 volts. The cap will only show the voltage that's applied to it nothing more. Next If you read the booklet that comes with the cap it will tell you about the DANGERS of miss using a cap. If you put a voltmeter across a fully charged cap you will read lets say 14.4 volts will that's not dangerous by ti's self tit's the current potential that stored that can cause burns or it can destabilize you heart an can kill you.Just like a stun gun has high voltage but all most no current. That why it doesn't kill. So before you offer advice to someone make sure know what your talking about. Now lets do so simple upgrades so you can hook your amp up. First:Unhook the pos + of the factory battery . Next lets upgrade the factory ground on the car by using a piece of 4 gauge wire about a foot or so long crimp ring terminals each end . Connect one end to the neg- post of the factory battery the other end will go to the frame . Scrap the paint an primer off till you see metal shoot the new ground. You done. Next run the new 4 gauge power back to the trunk to pos terminal of the optima battery , make another small 4 gauge black jumper to go from the neg- terminal to the frame again scrap the paint an primer off an shoot the ground. Next hook the amp up to the new battery run your remote wire an rca cables down the opposite side of the car this keeps the engine noise out. Now go back to the factory battery hook your inline fuse an reconnect both to the factory battery.hook up your subs . Set the amp gain to 0 , bass boost to half, x-over between 35 an 40 hz now go set your radio bass ,treble put the vol around 5 to 10 then adjust the gain don't go past half gain an enjoy . I hope that this helps you.
