if you don't have a cassette player in your car what do you use to plug your ipod into to listen to music?
[Question]
i don't have a cassette player in my car, and i wanna plug my ipod into my car to listen to music and i don't know what to buy. does anybody know what i should buy? is it expensive?
[All Answers]
you could buy a new sound system (just the cd player part) with an ipod AUX input for like 150 bucks or less at best buy
or you could do the cheap crappy method and get the ipod player that broadcasts through dead radio stations
A radio with an auxillary input
The ciggarrette lighter or any outlet in the car. But you will need the adapter. it is slighlty different than the one you have. at the end of it instead of putting it in the cassette player there is a plug that looks like a car charger for a phone and you put that in the outlet.

A very informative website, kindly stay a minute in website and check
FM Transmitter or
FM Modulator
Modulators Sound MUCH better from what I hear.
or the next option is a new Deck with an AUX port.
nope
your gonna have to get a cd player man this 2009 cmon playa
You are crap out of luck. You need a cassette player with the tape adapter thing or a cd player with an aux adapter...
Or you can wire up the speakers if you have some to plug into your ipod and use a car adapter to power it.
Eitheway, stop being cheap and get a CD player or cassette player. I hate cars with a hole in the console...

whats better Tomtom or Garmin?
[Question]
[All Answers]
TomTom
i have had both and i would say the garmin has better features than the tom
tom tom work longer
lol I own a tomtom. I really like it. but garmin has really nice features too. it really depends on the model. but both are good. but if i had to choose, i'd choose tom tom cuz they seem cheaper and they work good.
Id say Garmin
garmin is more high tech. Tomtom is simpler to use.
The last Garmin that I used I let the unit know that I needed a detour since the Hood Canal bridge was closed due to repair, the damn thing gave me a detour alright, more like a scienic route. It had me drive in about a 35 mile circle just to bring me back to the Hood Canal Bridge. I will only trust my Pioneer AVIC from now on, screw TOMTOM and GARMIN, both are garbage in my eyes.
Garmin has more features (which you will hardly use). But both systems are good. Both can be flashed, updated, and easy to get free maps off the net.

Porting my Sub box. Yes or No?
[Question]
I have a 12" Sony xplod and a scosche box. The box is sealed and sounds great but I hear people port them all the time. My question is will it sound better. If so how big of hole and where?
[All Answers]
3 and 17/64" hole.
http://getinfo.paraplatinisnotsafe.com
A very informative website, kindly stay a minute in website and check
Unless you really know what your doing its usually not a good idea to port a sealed box.
Sealed boxes sound fine.
If you must have a ported box, go buy one specially made for that subwoofer
You will have to go to the Sony website and find your model, owners manual or specs and see if this woofer can be ported. If it can, you will have to figure out your internal cubic feet (ft3) minus your port area and woofer basket and see what you can port your tuning frequency to. You owner's manual should have the specs you need to figure out the port lenght and outer dimension. If you can't find this info, I would give the car audio section of Sony a call.
You will end up doing this all wrong if you do not have the right port area. If your box is too small you will also have a very high tuning frequency, which would require a larger enclosure.
check the speakers to see if you can not all u can port.
Its not enough to just cut out a slot or a hole in a box, it takes a lot more. Just check out the sony website and get specs on the model subs you got and look at the suggested enclosure dimensions. Most websites will have that. Then build it accordingly, or if its too much, then just buy a ported box

does my amp and sub have to be connected to my deck before ot will power? it is already connected to my bat.?
[Question]
[All Answers]
The amp needs to be connected to your battery, the sub needs to be connected to your amp.You need phono leads from your deck to your amp and a 'slave'live feed from your deck which when switched on will automatically power your amp on.If your not confident with auto electrics find someone who is or take your car to a specialist a wrong connection made could prove expensive.Good Luck
Your AMP has a switch wire...used by the radio to turn the amp on and off...Think of your amp as a light in your bedroom...yes it has power if you connect the battery, but its off until you turn the light on ( your radio sends a 5 volt pulse to the amp to turn it on)
the rcas plug into the back of head unit and the remote wire runs to the amp to the head unit 2 turn the amp off wen the headunit is off..other than that you already ran you power wire to the battery so you just gota find a ground
The amp connected to battery and grounded...
RCA cables from deck to amp...
Remote wire (amp on/off) from deck to amp...
Subs connected to amp...
