What do i need to buy to put a system in my truck?
[Question]
I know i need the amp, subs, speakers, deck... but i want to make sure i don't get wrong sizes and blow the speakers and things like that. i am getting two 12" subs. i know this much so far.
[All Answers]
Depends entirely on how much output your speakers can handle,
say you have two 500W speakers then a 1000W amp will do fine,
just ensure the speakers can handle the power the amp is sending otherwise they will blow
My system consists of:
Two 10" Orion XTR sub woofers (in a speaker box designed to fit behind the seat) hooked to a 520 watt Poweracoustic amp-
Two Poweracoustic 6" two way door speakers hooked to the Kenwood reciever-
Two high quality tweeters mounted on the dashboard, hooked to the Kenwood reciever.
With this you wont wake the dead, but it really sounds great.
Don't Forget these:
A box For the Subs.
A wiring kit for the amp.
A wiring harness.
Fuses.
Speaker wire.
depends on wat u want really
I got two 12's kickin out of my eclipse with a 3000 watt amp
you should get two 12 inc pioneer champion series with a 1200 wat amp, a pioner deck or any name brand and then some six by nines for ur car grill

i mistakenly put the wrong wires on my car speaker. i put the postive on the negative and negative on postive.?
[Question]
when i switched the wires, the car speaker played ok but did i do any damage to car speaker by switching wires?
[All Answers]
lol no you didn't damage anything. It will just make the sound go out-of-phase.
What WILL cause damage are small strands of copper poking out from a less-than-neat wire job. These can cause shorts later.
you didn't do any damage to the speaker. don't worry about it
This will not damage the speakers, but until you correct them, it may cause less than perfect sound quality.
It won't cause any physical damage to the speaker. The sound it reproduces will be out of phase.
Example: When the cone should be pushing out, it will instead pull in, and Viceversa.
If you have two speakers, one wired correctly and one wired in reverse, you will get phase cancellation. This is due to the speakers creating opposite waves.
See this diagram for a visual explanation:
http://www.thumbuki.com/csound/articles/east/images/east204.gif
The top row shows opposite sound waves added together. You end up with a lower (exaggerated in this diagram to none) response.
The bottom row shows two signals in phase added together equaling a louder signal.

How many ohms would an amp have to be if i have 2 subs with 4 ohms each?
[Question]
[All Answers]
Depends on how the subs are wired, if in series you will need a 2ohm stable amp.
Do a quick internet search for good samples.
An amp does not have ohms. An amp sees the resistance of the speakers as ohms.
For two 4 ohm subs with single voice coils, you will want an amp capable of handling a 2 ohm load.
See this picture for a wiring diagram:
http://www.the12volt.com/12voltimages/2_4ohm_svc_2ohm.gif
Otherwise, you can wire them for an 8-ohm load:

I all depends on the voice coils, amp channels and ohmage of the sub
if you run 2 single voice coil subs at 4 ohms each, your amp will be under a 2 ohm load. ohms law is, essentially, 4+4=2... 2+2=1... 4+4+4+4=1.... and so on and so forth.

if you have your stereo super loud while driving could you get pull over by cops?
[Question]
btw. i've been reading some answer and people say that if you turn it down when they come , they cant do any thing about it .
and they dont have the equipment for it .is it true?
:)
[All Answers]
really it depends where you live.
I know larger cities will have a Db meter available to them.
Check with your cities noise ordinance, if you want to crank it and not be bothered, ask a local business owner in a andustrial shop setting. Most times they will let you hold competitions there as well.
Yeah they will pull you over,
If it breaks a law
like Disturbing the peace, or breaks a DB law.
one in my city is like, if you can hear it 100 feet away its Illegal.
Idk about turning it down though.
I always turn it down right when I see a cop, and i never get pulled over.
It depends on your city. Many cities have laws stating noise can't be heard within a certain number of feet from the vehicle.
Be a good neighbor and turn your music down when around other people. When you're cruising on the highway go ahead and turn it up.
well it depends were u stay at like over here in richmond the cops dont really trip kuz every one got slap in their cars, but yea if u see a cop u should maybe turn it down a bit and once u pass im slap again. and no they dont have no equipment like that
