what was the loudest noise you heard?
[Question]
yesterday there was 6 jet fighter flying , i think they were training but they were so loud , the noise was incredible high so what about u??
[All Answers]
Being under the bleachers working the Daytona 500 when the cars came around the turn where we were. Louder than any 747 or DC-10 i've been on. There's 20 or 30 cars, only 1 jet.
pickles
The battery of 105 howitzers my tent was next to in Nam, when they all fired at once. That's one of the reasons my hearing is so bad today.
standing right next (20 ft away) to a 6,000 horsepower top fuel funny car (runs on nitromethane) at the moment of launch..... its so loud you think your insides are going to explode. i saw a can of coke vibrate off the side of a table at 100 ft away...
When I was younger, my grandfather was an officer assigned to patrol the "crash zone" at an air show. We got to sit up on a hillside, right where the jets punched the throttle to climb and circle back to the main show. They all punched the throttle right over our heads, so close I could read the pilot's names pinstriped below the cockpit windows.... that was intense.
In EOD (bomb squad) training in the army, we detonated a 2000 pound charge of explosives, just to see what it was like. Our bunker was a couple hundred yards away. The bunker was solid enough that it wasn't "loud" acoustically, but the shockwave shot through and felt like a baseball bat in the chest, even in the earthen covered concrete bunker.
I used to go to car audio competitions often, and I remember one company's showcar (Boston Acoustics) being so loud inside, that it didn't hurt my ears, but rather, it rattled my throat so much I literally had trouble breathing... that was cool!
inflating a bike tire with my 6 year old girl in the garage. i wasnt paying attention and WAY over inflated it....it EXPLODED. ...my daughter, with a look of horror on her face screamed at me..
( because she couldnt hear anything at all.. )..."AM I STILL ALIVE."
both humerous...and scarey.

1000 watts vs. 2 X 500 watts?
[Question]
Is a 1,000 Watt amp powering 2 P1222 12" subs about the same as a 2 500 watt amps, one powering each of them? If you need more info, I was wondering if 2 Alpine V Power MRP500's would be enough to power those subs?
[All Answers]
2 500's will give more power than 1 1000. They will also distribute the load better. Those amps will be fine for those subs.
thats 10 million watts
The JBL P1222 is a dual 2 ohm sub, so you could wire a single sub into either 1 or 4 ohms. 1 ohm on an Alpine MRP-M500 would be too low, and fry the amp, and 4 ohms would only get you 300 watts.
I don't know what 1000 watt amp you had in mind, but if it were me, I'd generally rather get my power from one large amp than 2 smaller ones anyhow. And if you wire those 2 subs together, in series-parallel, you could get a 2 ohm load, which nearly any mono block amp will handle just fine.
I'd prefer to use 1 amp per sub.
If you use a single amp you'll halve the observed impedance, and ask the amp to deliver more current at it's rated output voltage. This increases Transient demands on the amp, increasing the likelihood of transient clipping, and power supply lugging ( both of which you can hear). No two speaker are exactly alike in their impedance curves, so the one with the lowest impedance (AC resistance) will call for more power and will have a shorter lifetime in service. Should one blow, you'll put the full kilowatt on one speaker. No matter what they say NO SPEAKER IS GOING TO TOLERATE THAT FOR LONG.
another advantage to the 2 amp setup. You can still hear something if you blow an amp.
another you have better damping factor control with separate amps. this means that your speakers are more precisely controlled by individual amps. Translation; they'll sound better!!
yes they would power the subs just fine

car alarm...............?
[Question]
i want to have an alarm installed in my car. The newspaper add reads $40 and free installation, but (parts at additional charges). How much are these additional charges approximately?
[All Answers]
how would i know
at the most maybe 50 dollars but in probably wrong you might want to ask the company or look it up on google
it means what they will have to do to make the alarm work and fit in your car so it's whatever price they want it to be
it depends on what kind you want, like just a normal one like all people have, would probably be about 80$, and it depends on what they mean by free installation, and what are you looking for? an alarm that responds by touch, a fake key/a pick lock, when the care moves while nobody is in it, it all has to do with how much equipment they need in it, but for a normal alarm that almost all cars come with as standard, id say 80$ with parts and installation, but like i said, it depends on how much security you want in it

Question about shortcut amplifying door speakers?
[Question]
I'm installing an amplifier for all my speakers (doors, rear). The rear is no issue, but the door speakers is going to be a problem. Instead of having to run the wire through the loom and the door, can i possibly just run the speaker wire from my amplifier to the back of the head unit and splice them into those wires?
[All Answers]
f
yes you can use the factory wires - just make sure its no longer connected to the head unit - just hooked to the amp - so disconnect the fronts from the HU and hook them to the amp wire
Short answer - yes, you can reuse the factory wiring and run the speaker wires from your new amp to the old wires going to your door speakers.
Disclaimer - If you have a car with a Bose system or otherwise factory amplified, this will probably not work. If you are running a powerful amp, the factory speaker wires may be a little small. If the factory wires are old, you may have problems with sound quality. It's always a better idea to run new high quality wire, but if you're just adding a relatively small amp to your simple factory system (HU and 4 speakers, nothing else) then you SHOULD be fine. YMMV.
