Where's the best online place to buy a stereo system for my truck?...  I have no idea about any of this type of stuff for trucks.

I just want some good bass.

If it helps the truck is an '85 Single Cab Chevy Silverado.

4)   It's better to go in a bricks-and- mortar store where you can see equipment demonstrated and talk to technicians about installation- what works and what doesn't. Online, you'll see large numbers, tempting prices and lots of pretty pictures, but there isn't anything there about putting it in your car and making it sound good. After you audition a system and decide it fits your car, have it installed with a guarantee. - don r

5)   Go to walmart and get One or Two twelve inch SOny Xplod subwoofers.........70 dollars each.... Then get one or two pioneer 780 watt amps.....not the Sony amp because they are made verry shitty the pioneer will cost you 125 a piece..... this is a cheap yet very good way out the subwoofers put out enough for the price to make anyone happy - Drew

Question 2
Help! I am an hour from home by myself and my key fob won't work! My alarm is going crazy?...  My alarm is going off, I opened the door and tried to turn on the car the stupid alarm won't let me. I need help disabling it so I can go home. I have no tools, maybe 5 bucks on me, and no one to ask for help. I drive an 08 yaris and the alarm is from car tunes. Car tunes has no customer service number this late

2)   rest your alarm. disconnect and reconnect the battery. it should work if its a stock car alarm. that's what i did when i lost my alarm control.

if it don't work look under the steering wheel for a little button. its a kill switch for the alarm. hope this helped - franciscoolvera9

3)   try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it......if that doesnt work....try turning the key in the door lock to unlock and back several times and see if that turns it off........if not take ur 5 bucks and go to a parts store or hardware store or megamart and buy a new battery for ur key fob ..........good luck

4)   Somewhere in the car, probably under the dash, there should be a valet switch. This often looks like a little black pushbutton. You can use it to put the alarm in "valet mode". To do this, open the door, put your key into the ignition and turn it to "run", then press the button. If that doesn't work, try it again; but this time turn the key to "run" and then off again before pushing the button.



Disconnecting the battery won't work to disable any after-market alarm system. If you can find the actual alarm module under the dash, though, you can probably unplug it or remove the fuse. - KaeZoo

Question 3
Why is my amplifier cutting out?...  I just recently got a pioneer mosfet 300watt amp from a friend, and it consistently cuts off. I wired everything myself, I'm fairly certain its all correct, but I could be wrong. I've got two 12' Kicker comps running off of it, 4ohm speakers.

Seems to only cut off with songs that switch from deep bass to low bass, or something of the sort. The amp is not turning off, it simply skips a beat or two, but when I turn the volume down it'll play with no prob.

So I'm curious if I need to check wires, find a new amp, or something of the sort.

2)   If I where you I would get another amp. The amp you have im pretty sure is not powering the speakers correctly. - Chino

3)   Reduce the amp gain so it stops clipping. You didn't say how the speakers are wired up. If the amp "sees" the right amount of impedance, it'll be happy. If it "sees" too little, like it probably will with speakers wired parallel, it will draw too much current and clip.



That amp is not a 300 watt amp as far as loud music is concerned. That peak power rating means it can produce that much current and voltage, including heat and distortion- not pretty stuff-, and a tick more will burn it out. The RMS watt rating is closer to 40 watts per channel. That's not so bad if you want to listen to music. When the system asks the amp to give 300+ watts, thats when it cuts out to prevent destruction. - don r

4)   get a ohm meter and check what ohm load you have going to the amp. same thing happened to mines but it wasnt the ohm load it was the output of the amp was bad. but check the ohm load first to make sure you have it wired right. and if its atleast 2ohms and still does it. then its the output of the amp. get another amp or just get it fix but better off getting another amp - bigo

2 10' kicker comps or 2 10' mtx magnum?...  my friend wants to get a system for his mini van haha. just want to know if 2 10' kicker comps or 2 10' mtx magnum are better. or any other 10 inch subwoofers that are a reasonably low price. thanks

3)   Shop around. See what he wants in his van. You want music? 10" subs will do the trick. You want to hurt yourself? There's always bigger and more powerful, but it gets to a point where a lot is just wasted. I see guys all the time going down the street with the license plate flapping, the trunk rippling like the ocean surf and BUUUUH, BUUUH BUUUUH going and no music at all- if it's in there you can't tell. - don r

why wont my power windows worth with my system up?...  I have a 2006 pontiac g6 sedan with a midgrade battery and stock alternator... i have a 2400 watt amp with 1200rms and 2-12" alpine type r's i have them wired at 1 ohm... and when i turn them on and turn them up pretty loud my power window wont work... how can i fix this?

1)   um if ur window wont work with ur system on .....u definitely have too much power running thro the system and probably will fry stuff if u haven't already.....so get a capacitor and maybe upgrade the alternator b4 u start frying ur cars wiring - Karle
