connect amp wire to car battery?

Question 1
connect amp wire to car battery?...  when we connect the amp wire to the car battery we first remove the negative side then connect the amp wire to the negative side and reconnect the negative battery wire thing. is this correct?
and when my car is off will the amp still take power from the battery and drain it out?

1)   there should be 3 main connections other than the speaker outputs. one goes to the battery + (through a proper fuse), one going to a good ground, and the remote turn-on from your head unit (this is what turns the amp on and off with the head unit.)

4)   no. your wire that runs to your amp is supposed to run to your amp. think of it this way. the negative terminal wire runs connects to the car's chassis. thats why you connect the negative wire from the amp to the car chassis so its like one big flow. dont connect it to the negative terminal. connect to POSITIVE terminal.

and to save battery, connect the "antenna" wire from the amp to the radio.

this will make sure the amp/ subs will only turn on when the radio is turned on. - OneLove

5)   Absolutely not!



The amp power wire goes to battery POSITIVE. The amp "ground" should be as close to the amp as possible, and be securely screwed to bare metal on the vehicle frame or chassis. The battery negative should be removed while your are making the connections.



The correct sequence is as follows:



1) Remove battery negative terminal.

2) Locate and mount the amp. Connect ground terminal to bare metal within 18-24" of the amp using the same gauge wire as the power wire.

3) Run power wire from battery positive to the amp power terminal. DO NOT install the fuse yet.

4) Connect remote wire, RCA inputs, and speaker and/or subwoofers.

5) Check that all terminals are tight and secure and that no strands of wire from one terminal are contacting adjacent wires or terminals.

6) Install the fuse in the positive wire.

7) Reconnect the negative battery terminal.



The amp will not drain your battery when the vehicle is off. If the wiring is correct and the remote wire from your head unit operates properly, the amp will only turn on when the head unit is turned on. - PimpMyRide

Question 2
Should I get a FI BL 12" OR 15" subwoofer?...  Both 1000 watts rms gonna use a KAC 9104D 1800 watt Kenwood MONO amp pushes 900 watts rms. Slight difference in price, is the 15" gonna be alot louder? Has anyone heard the difference in the two? Will I be giving up sq if I go with the 15" instead of the 12". Any comments about the amp Im gonna use for this?
Also can anyone help with the buying guide?

1)   the sound on a 12 is much dif then a 15.. 12 are tighter and harder hit to the chest.. a 15 is a flater boom sound.. unless you are pushing it too hard then it might get like a 12.

3)   its personal preference. i have 10's that hit your chest like this other guy said. they rattle my car and sound sick in the car. but it doesnt sound good out of the car. since its tighter bass, its short, hard hits. but 15's??

thats heavy bass. its the kind of bass that you hear from blocks away. but it has its disadvantages, since its deep and low, it wont hit as hard and instead drown out your hi's and feel more like your in a echoing cave than a hard bass concert. know what i mean?? i personally love the feeling of it hitting my chest and rattling my ears. i dont much care to have others hear it, but its so loud they do anyways :P

but its personal preference. swishahouse bass will sound good with 15's, but gucci would prolly sound better with the 12's

stick with 2 ohms and a 1800 mono? honestly i think thats too much. that might blow your sub, but idk. i have a boss 1000 watt amp pushin my 10" kicker cvr and its fine. - OneLove

4)   ive heard both size bl subs.as both subs are rated at 1000w rms the 15 will be louder as it has more cone area to move air.as far as sq goes to my ears both subs sounded about the same.but its really about the install when it comes to sq,just about any subs can sound good if you have the right size sturdy box and enough power to power them.fi really does make great subs so if you chose a 12 or 15 bl it will be loud with the 15 being a little louder than the 12 so its really a win win.as far as the options.ohms-you want the ohms on the sub to match the ohms at witch the amp will put out 1000w rms.hyper pole-this help cool your sub so it doesnt get hot.cooling includes the hyper pole and helps keep the sub far cooler than the stock version,it does make the subs motor a little weaker so if your planning on using the sub in a burp or spl comp fi suggest you dont get the cooling option just get the hyper pole but if you plan on using them as your daily driving subs fi recommends you get that option.flatwind-it basically help the sub handle more power.its a diffrent voice coil that helps the coil in dissapating heat so it can handle more power,fi recommends getting that option if your using it for spl.daily or spl-if your going to use the subs as your daily drivers or for spl comps.universal-you can change the ohms on the sub later if you get a diffrent amp that works best at a diffrent ohm,if you get dual 2ohm you can change them to dual 1ohm and vice versa by reconing them,you can find all this info if you would like to read more at ficaraudio.com then on the left click on tech then click on speaker tech on the next page and after the next screen comes up click on bl and you will be able to read more if youd like-i hope this helps - Ryan

is it bad while jumping a car battery to hook them up backwards? pos and neg. what is the damage done if any?...  ?

2)   Worse case scenario would be to fry all the electrical systems in BOTH cars..Also bad would be to have a battery explode and cover your face in acid..Not too bad if you are a muslim woman as this is a cultural norm but horrendous for any other female (male too I guess) - sdirkette

3)   bad. the negative isnt meant to provide power to the car. it is connected to the car's chassis. so by putting power to the negative terminal, you positively charged the CAR instead of the battery and internals. if nothing happened, then you are lucky because it very easily could have fried your electric stuff - OneLove
