4)   The 2 L7's would hit harder. They are better than the alpines, and they would push more air than the 15. - Chester

5)   the alpine x is more of a sound quality sub than a spl sub. between the L7s and the xxx it is going to come down to power and the subwoofer box. i would do the xxx. - draggin

Question 2
What is the solution to this problem?...  Have a Rockford Fosgate Amp model p3001 and it was working fine and now the "protected" light came on. Please help me
Rockford Fosgate amp model p3001, i was driving home and the amp shut of and went into "protect mode" I checked the fuse that is on the wire running for the battery changed it twice and still nothing.. Then I checked the amp for loose wires and still nothing.. The amp was not hot or overheating.

1)   the amp goes into protect mode when the impedance on the speakers goes too low. check your wiring. - Jay

3)   This is usually due to a wiring problem. Check your wires, make sure none are crossed or rubbing against metal. - Joe S

Question 3
Best way to hook up single voice coil subs?...  I have 2-10 inch single voice subs. Hookin up to a d400.1 amp. Whats the best way to hook them up?

1)   If they are 4 ohm, wire them in parallel for a 2ohm load, that is if you amp is 2 ohm stable. Should be, most are.



If they are 2 ohm coils, and your amp is 1 ohm stable, you can also use parallel on them. If your amp is not 1ohm stable, and they are 2ohm subs, your going to have to wire them in series for a 4ohm load. - Nicholas

2)   That depends on the ratings of your amp, and the resistance of your subs. You basically have two choices. Either in series, or in parallel. If your amp can handle a 2 Ohm load, go with parallel. If not, go with wiring them in series.

Question 4
Should I get my new stereo professionally installed or not?...  I'm planning on buying this stereo:

I have a 98 Honda Civic coupe, and I'm sure it'll fit. I googled how to replace a stereo and it doesn't look too difficult, except I'm going to have to buy some weird tools like wire strippers and stuff cuz I don't know anyone who has those. And I'll have to spend probably an afternoon at least doing this and being cramped and uncomfortable and probably at least a little dirty.



Best Buy's installation will cost almost as much as the stereo itself, and I'd rather save money if it's not worth it. Would it be better to DIY or is the money I'll spend worth saving myself the hassle?

1)   i did the stereo install in my 2000 honda civic coupe, and it wasnt too bad at all. however, you are gonna need to either solder or splice the wires into the harness unless you buy a little harness plug that you can use to attach the stereo, which i would highly recommend. overall, you can do it, but if you have no no no idea what youre doing, leave it to the pros. - Jay

2)   stereos are very simple to install. i'm not sure if your electrically inclined but if not i'm sure you could easily find a friend or someone who knows exactly how to do it.



If you do it yourself:

1. take out the old stereo, there should be a plug somewhere on the wires unclip it. pull the big black wire out from the back of the radio too. this is your antenna.

2. Do you have a wiring harness? If so just splice off the ends of each one to reveal the copper wire inside

3. The wires are 99% of the time color coordinated. (i've only seen one that wasn't) simply connect each wire from the harness to the cooresponding wire on the stereo. so red to red, black to black etc.

-make sure you keep an eye on wires that have stripes and you match them correctly. My car has purple wires for a speaker, one that is all purple and one that is purple with a black stripe.

4.The bare copper wire needs to be covered so it doesn't cause a short. Just use electrical tape and wrap it around each twisted wire a couple times to make sure it's covered.

5. You can clean up your wiring by tying all the wires together.

6 Plug in your harness back to the car.

-If you didn't buy a harness, go up there and they'll give you one specifically for your car.

-OR just cut the harness off your original radio leaving enough length for all the wires (then splice and connected to cooresponding colors etc..you know)

7. Plug your antenna into the new radio.

8. Turn your car on and it should work.

9. Obviously mount it where the old one was, screw it in and that's about it.



Just so you know which wires are which.

Red: Power Source

Black: Ground

Any color wires that have 1 that is solid color and one with stripe are for the speakers.

really want an answer for this its about speakers?...  if you put two 70 watt speakers to feed off the same stereo channel can they handle 140 watts put together or still just 70

1)   140 watts altogether. 2 70 watt speakers equal 140 watts of power altogether. Now your stereo is going to put out 140 watts per channel. It's more like 50 watts. If you really want to hear your speakers, I would suggest getting an amp just for those speakers. - Chester
