Question 1
is this subwoofer setup gonna explode?...  i have two 12" kicker cvx's and i have access to two alpine mpr-m500's

i want to give them a 2 ohm load.



the alpine mpr-m500 will push them to 500 RMS i know the speakers are rated for 750RMS, so i know ill be underpowering them but thats ok with me for the time being until i can get a kicker zx1500.1



im just wondering if this is ok i dont know JACK about car audio and i dont want to invest in somthing thats not gonna work.

2)   That will work but if you're running two amps you may need another battery in your car.



The underpowering is not a problem but just add on some coaxials or something to use up the extra wattage soon, or you will have two big 12" magnetized paperweights (your subwoofers). - Dakota D

6)   This depends on the way you wire it, and what the Kicker subs can handle.



The alpine amp can push 500watts at 2ohms, but only 300watts at 4ohms. If you want to get maximum performance, you'll have to read up on your particular woofer to find out the ohm rating, and you'll have to read an article or two on dual voice coil subs.

This also assumes that you will be achieving 2ohms. You also plan on using two different amps. This could complicate things.

Anyways, it depends on what model CVX. If you have the dual 4 ohm models, you are fine. However, you need the dual 2 ohm models for a zx1500.1



So if you have the dual 4 models, the alpine MRP's will work, but not for the zx1500.1. And the dual 2 models will work with the zx1500.1



But, if you do have the dual 2 ohm model, you can wire them up for a 4 ohm load, only giving your subs 300 watts.

How to wire a single dvc 2 ohm subwoofer to have a 2 ohm load?...  Each voice coil is 2 ohms.I want a 2 ohm load Because my amp is a 600w rms and 2 ohms and I need the power

Assuming that your subwoofer is less than 1200 watts RMS, your best bet is to wire your sub in series (4 ohms).



If you wire it in parallel it could very well blow your amp, and if you wire it to a single voice coil it will most likely blow that coil (also both these options will result in slightly poorer sound quality than wiring in series).



I wouldn't be be very concerned about not squeezing maximum power out of your amp. It is true that a 2 ohm stable amp running into 4 ohms is theoretically running at half it's potential output, however, because amps have regulated power, and because it takes ten times the power for a system to sound twice as loud, the difference between running at 4 ohms and running at 2 ohms is not huge (it even has slightly lower distortion at 4 ohms).



In fact, my current setup is a 600 watt 4 ohm stable amp driving a 15" dvc sub wired to 8 ohms; it sounds great.



If you do want to maximize power output, you might consider getting a second sub (that is either another 2 ohm dvc or 4 ohm svc) and wiring both at 4 ohms, then wiring them in parallel to your amp to achieve a 2 ohm load.

Subwoofer and amplifier help?...  I have 2 JL 4ohm subs http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/12W3v2_MAN.pdf it says that they are 300 watt rms but people have told me that i can run them at 500 without any problems, so thats what i intend to do. I am getting this amp http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_2809_Rockford+Fosgate+Power+T10001bd.html I am wondering what is the best way to wire my subs in order to get their max power out of them, and also the max out of this amp. For example: will they be louder if wired to 1 ohm, or if wired to 4 ohms? sorry if this is hard to understand...

2)   Are the subs dual 4 ohm or single 4 ohm? I am guessing single since the rms is so low... I would recommend running them close to the rms that jl audio gives you. The subs will last the longest that way. The lower the ohm load the better, and I did a wiring wizard on fosgates site for 2 single 4 ohm subs, and you can run them in parallel to get them down to 2 ohms at the amp. This will be plenty of power for them, and will be the most efficient since you can not get them down to 1 ohm... - d_monie3

3)   Wire them for 2 ohms. If you don't know how I will explain it. It's very simple. On the speakers connect with speaker wire + to + and - to -. Then bridge your amp and connect + wire to 1 speaker and - to - on the other. This should give you max power from your amp. - 1luvsingledad

4)   1 ohm is where that amp makes the most power.



i wouldn't run that much power to those subs. i snapped a tinsel wire on 1 of those with 370 watts in a sealed box. - dragon breath

how to set up woofers in your car?...  I want to set up some woofers in a car and i need to know how and where should i put them in the car?

2)   well if ur talking subwoofers they are normally in a box and in the trunk u would need a amp wire subwoofer box and maybe other things depending on the wattage...

need to know what subs to buy?...  looking at 3 12" alpine type R's,....or 3 fusion 15" powerplants. I am only running for spl competitions. Which of these 2 is better for that? If you know of 3 subs i can get for under a $1000 that would be better let me know.
