What r the loudest/ best subs for the money?...  In 2weeks I'm 16 and I have $6,000 for a car, so with my birthday money I'm getting subs What r the loudest/best subs to get for the money?

1)   Diamond Audio. They have great products for really cheap prices. I know someone who got a Diamond home audio system then took it back a week later because the speakers blew out some of the windows in his house lmao They are great. I have 2 10" D1's and they are LOUD!!

2)   Just get a Solo Baric L7 man. If you get a 15, it would run you around $240 if you buy it online. You can also get a Kenwood amp to power it for a decent price. Runs about $200. - Rolando v3.0

Question 2
Can I overpower Subwoofer by 100Watts RMS ?...  I have an alpine MRP-M650 amp that outputs 400Watts at 4Ohms RMS and 600Watts RMS at 2Ohms. I want to hook my Alpine Type R 10" Subwoofer Dual voice coil 4 Ohm to my alpine amp, but the RMS rating for the subwoofer is 300-500Watts RMS. If I hook the sub up to my amp, the amp will output 600Watts RMS (100 Watts too high). Should I just hook it up and turn the gain way down? Is there another way to wire my subwoofer so that I can only draw 4Ohms from my amp? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

1)   Most of the time only going over the recommended power by a little is ok. I wouldn't push the sub with the full power of the amp, but it wont hurt if the amp is only roughly 50-75% of the way up. Excess clean power is better than too little clipped or distorted power. - Wesley

2)   You won't be able to wire it up to a 4 ohm load properly. You can simply wire it to a 2 ohm load. If you set the gain properly you will be fine.

3)   IF you set the gain correctly you'll have a very clean bass....but if you don't you'll have a blown speaker..use sparky's guide to help you set the gain on your amp..(I take no credit for the guide, Sparky created it) - Dj-King-Cesar

4)   you should be fine. i ran a 12 inch type r ( same power rating as the 10 ) on a 750 rms amplifier for over a year with no problems. set your gains properly and you will be fine. - dragon breath

Subwoofer enclosures which are better vented or sealed?...  Hi, i have a single 15'' sub and was wondering what enclosure would work best in my car, can anyone help me out? thanks.

3)   It depends on whether you want SPL (loudness) or SQ (quality) or a mix of the two. SPL is better suited to vented or ported boxes with a relatively high tuning frequency. Quality sound normally comes from sealed boxes. If you want both you will need a ported box with a fairly low tuning frequency. - Wesley

Question 4
I just want to add a thump to my stock speakers. what do i get?...  I have a 2002 v6 mustang coupe, with the stock mach speakers. What good and cheap way can i add bass. What do i need and how much will it run me? Subs, boxes, wires? I dont want to replace the stock speakers, im on a budget and they sound decent. Plus be thorough on the explanation, im clueless on the tech stuff. Thanks.

1)   I left the stock speakers in my car. Then added an amp and sub woofers. You can get cheap ones or used ones for kind of cheap, but I spent thousands of dollars and my entire system. This was just because I purchased expensive products. This include a 1000 watt amp, 2- 12" subs, a deck (cd player), a plexiglass box to hold the sub woofers, and the wires and installation. If you just add subs and an amp you can do it for a couple hundred. - OhiosGirl

2)   It really depends on the amount of bass you want and if you want loud bass or quieter bass with more quality. If you are wanting something with a lot of bass and high sound levels you will want something from 10 to 15 inches with a decent sized amp. If you just want to add a little bass to even things out, and aren't out to set SPL records an 8" or 10" speaker will be plenty.



With the larger, louder setup you are probably going to spend around 500 dollars depending on the quality of the products and where you get them. If you want the smaller system you can get by with anywhere from 150-250 dollars, once again depending on what and where you get the stuff.



You will need the following items:

Wiring kit

Amp

Sub

Box



With a quality oriented setup a 100 to 150 watt RMS amp will be plenty and all you will need is a small sealed box. For the loud setup much more power will be required and you may want to go to a ported box, but a sealed one will still work.

3)   if you want it to be simple, i would recomend bazooka, they have speaker tubes with built in amps, they save space, are easy to hook up, and sound great when done right. you can run just one and add another later. they have great sound quality and not to pricey. if you are wanting a loud deep bass that will rattle your whole car i would NOT recomend these, they are intended just to add a little more thump to your system. - Scott H

how do i connect my power wire running from my amp to my truck battery?...

1)   with wire and connectors....go with at least a 4 gauge cable - trucker01940

2)   Crimp the proper terminals on, make sure you have a fuse in line within 18" of the battery as well, don't run it through the fenders or through any sharp metal. As for the ground, no more than 3' long from the amp, and attach it to a clean paint free part of the chassis, its ok to scrape the paint of a spot if you have to. - Rob
