JL AUDIO OR MTX AUDIO SUBS & AMPS?...  Generally which company makes better Car Subwoofers and Amplifiers

1)   JL Audio makes the better subs and amps, I hate to say that because I really hate JL Audio because they want way to much for anything that they make. - georgewillings

2)   They are both very good products. MTX makes awesome amps that are usually underrated by a lot. I had one that was rated at 1200w RMS, and it actually put out around 1600w RMS!



While they are both good quality products, JL is a little more expensive, but about the same quality. Don't buy main stream like JL or MTX and you can get the same quality products for much less ;)



For example, a JL W7 is around 600 new, while an FI Q is around 250 new and they perform around the same - FurbiesAndBeans

3)   If i had to pick, i would go with mtx, but only the 9500 series, BUT, you can get the same quality but LOUDER for a cheaper price. how?

go with RE Audio, FI audio, or Audioque. Not to many ppl know about them, but they are the best companies for car audio. Ive had mtx 9500, kicker l7's, and now i have re audio sxx, and im much happier. They get loud and have better sq then both of those.



go with either one of these set ups and you will be much happier, and will save money:

5)   JL is better quality IMO, they are one of the last companies to stay private and still make products in the USA! Meanwhile, every other company sold out and makes products overseas. I dont mind paying a tad extra for this. - odinsragess

Question 2
What kind of subwoofers should I get?...  I rock a 2007 TL Type S I just got and I would like to put subs in the trunk. There is also a smaller subwoofer that came with it thats already included stock but I don't know the size of it, it produces very little thump though. Im looking for the best way to go for a nice, clean, crisp bass. Not a nasty, trunk rattling bass but a nice, crisp bass that hits hard and was wondering if anybody any good combinations that they would suggest.

1)   Both of my brothers both own Xplod's, unless you have a roomy car it will definitely rattle. i would recommend jackhammers, they sell them in 20in, and 6in. they hit hard and sound very clear. they work good off an xplod amp or kenwood from what i know - john w

2)   i'd 112"competition pioneer, in an enclosed box.i have 3 in my crown vic. use at least a 250x1 mono amp to push it. we used a similar setup in my cousin's altima - Aaron A

3)   Alpine Subwoofers are fantastic, but are expensive depending on what kind you choose. My friend has two 12" Type "R" in in His Acura MDX, and it shakes the whole car, and it feels like its going to break the windows. Very Crisp, Clean Bass sound though. 4)   Ive got a 07 Camry (about the same trunk space) and I have one 12" JL W3v3. It hits hard, but its not overkill. Its running off a JL 500/1 amp. Both of those together are a match made in heaven.



The little subwoofer in the trunk is likely an 8" sub with a little amp at the base of the sub. It will likely be removed when the sub and amp are put in. - my02ser

5)   if your feeling the bass its more than likely that its going to rattle your trunk so thats prettyy unstopable if you want bass if you want some good bass just get one alpine type r doesnt matter if its a 10 or 12" - Jose

what do you think of my idea?...  i blasted my car stereo loud with sob woofers and wore earplugs so i wont lose my hearing, so that the drivers 50 feet away can enjoy the noise at its real level but not me lol. see i can blast my car stereo witout losing my hearing because i am smart haha

i got a 2001 camaro and?...  i was wondering that in the trunk im planning on adding 2 woofers to each side but what would be the biggest woofers in inches that i can put on each side and how much would they cost



like 14 or 16 inch woofers

4)   You cant really fit bigger than 10 inches on the sides without modification. 14 or 16 inch speakers are very rare, 15 is the standard for that size range.



Dude, trust me, as a guy that owned a 2001 camaro SS, i can tell you that a pair of big 10's and a lot of wattage is LOUD in a camaro. The hatchback design is very conducive to bass. I remember installing a SINGLE JL 10w7 in a trans am and it was uncomfortable to sit in at full blast.

My first car audio system?...  ok i will be getting my license soon and would like to know what kind of system to put in it for around 0-500 dollars and i would like the best i can get for around that amount of money and i would like it to be really impressive and loud and would like to know every piece i need for a truck,car,SUV

1)   Car audio system are mostly expensive, it all depends on the brand. The only thing I can thing about is like the one that a friend of mine just got.

find a good amp for those, a number 8 wire and u're done man.

2)   Well if you don't get any subs or amps you can get a descent stereo and good speakers to replace the stock paper speakers for about $350

Now if you don't care what it sounds like $200 and the speakers will probably blow or tear after a year

Or you can buy stolen property never a wise decision and if you do it certainly better not be from my truck. - joel

3)   Go to any pawn shops around you and look for any Alpine, Kicker, or Rockford-Fosgate subs. Boss amplifiers are cheap with great sound quality. Look for speakers that don't have cracks or tears and if you push on the center and it makes squeaky sound don't get it. But pawn shops usually have good speakers for a more reasonable price. - Blaze
