Question 1
if you touch a cb radio antenna or if it is touching anything will it blow a fuse or break anything?...  just wondering cause im putting in a cb radio in my car but a a temporary thing putting the antenna in the car and it might touch some stuff

im sure i wont get much range but just wondeirng

1)   the aerial has nothing to do with power. - brian d

2)   have to take swr reading and if its too high can blow finals on transmitter/result is radio junk - ken k

3)   The antenna tip is where your transmitted signal goes and that could pose a problem if grounded to your car. Also, the antenna must be grounded to the radio ONLY for best performance. (Simply attach it via the cable to the radio.)

Your best bet is just to get a magnet mount antenna like a Wilson 1000. That way you can put on/take off as needed. - Keith

4)   It could mess with sensitive electronics.

CB radios emit a high voltage, (but low current) when transmitting. It won't hurt the CB, but if the antenna is close to something like an iPod, or laptop, it could induce enough field effect voltage to fry a chip.



Radios built after the mid-80's have circuit protection built in, so you won't "blow the finals", or damage the transmitting components.



If you have a pass-through hole to the trunk, you can put it in there. You won't be able to hear or talk more than a few hundred feet, but it works. - Vic J

5)   it won,t hurt nothing. i have a k-40 antenna on my car and i went into those underground garages and it went cling, cling, cling and no fuse blew. just don,t key the mic and you will be ok. - bandit_60

What amp for a kicker sub?...  I was hoping to put a Kicker 12" solo baric sub in my suburban.

Sensitivity: 89 dB

* RMS Power Range : 750 Watts

* Peak Power Handling: 1500 Watts

* Impedance: Dual 2 Ohm

* Low Frequency response: 20 Hz

* High Frequency Response: 100 Hz

* Diameter: 12 Inch

What would be the best amp for this sub?

1)   You could run a any amp that has 800 watts rms or just like the one have a brutus from hifonics, they are good amps and not expensive.

2)   800 watt amplifier will be fine that is 2 ohm stable or atleast 1 ohm stable. - Matt

4)   Since its a dual 2 ohm voice coil, erik's suggestion is bad.



You need either a 1 ohm stable mono amp, that makes ~750 watts @ 1 ohm mono, or a big 2 channel amp that makes 750 watts @ 4 ohms bridged. - odinsragess

what amp are perfect for 2 kicker cvr 4dvc?...  I just want to get a amp that will do the job on my sub that will be stable at 1 ohm because i think when i wire it parrallel on the 4dvc it will become one 1 ohm. Any help please
they 400 rms each so 800 together. but i cant find one that is stable at 1 ohm

1)   you find the RMS for the two speakers combined and thats about how many watts amp you need any brand will work but stay away from the cheap ones they usually break after a few weeks of use - Swang

2)   You can use a 1,000 watt amplifier with no problem and i suggest a sundown audio amplifier or rd audio, aq and dd amplifier. - Matt

3)   You should be good with a Rockford Fosgate (either Power or Punch series) P or T1000-1bd. If you keep the gains set low it shouldn't damage your subs. - Erik

4)   David, there are some companies that have made smaller 1 ohm stable amps in the past, like diamond and a few others.



Another option is to get a 2 channel amp, bridge it, wire the subs in series/parallel. There are plenty that make around 800 watts RMS when bridged. - odinsragess

3)   Alpine SWR-1022D or 1042D (2-ohm DVC and 4 ohm DVC respectively), will run you about $220 for a pair at onlinecarstereo.com. They'll handle 1,000w RMS total, which is impressive for 2 10's. If your amp is 2-ohm stable, get the 1022D models. If your amp is 1-ohm stable get the 1042D models. - Erik

1)   the 2 12s.. they always sound better in a pair and louder, even if the 1 single sub is more powerful... - TX2000

2)   The 2 12's will give u da most bass. even thou its an L7 kicker its gives out a lot of bass but wont give u as much as a pair. - Ms_Scorpio89
