1)   im not 100percent sure but i dont think that amp can handle .5 if im not mistaken i think it can only go as low has 1 ohm - Kenny

2)   The amp will try to play with however you wire them. If the amp isn't stable at .5 ohm, it will shut down to protect the amp. If it is stable at that ohm it will play and usually get pretty warm because you are pushing the amp more than normal use and may shut it self down later when it gets too hot. - Stan

4)   The JL Audio 1000/1 amp can only safely operate into an impedance of 1.5 ohms or higher. I'd recommend that you rewire your DVC 2 ohm Type R's to show a final impedance to the amp of 2 ohms.



The amp has a "low impedance" detection circuit accompanied by amber lights to indicate that the impedance is too low. When the light is on, the amp automatically reduces power output and depending on the actual impedance detected, it may go into "protection" and shut down. - PimpMyRide

I talked to a lot of people about how to pick out a amp, i just forgot. First of all i would get a monoblock amp. Would i need a amp that puts out around 800 watts RMS for 2 ohms? I am trying to find an answer and i see all this crap about bridging, paralleling, to make 2 ohms convert to 4 ohms or something like that, which is just making me more confused. I just want to get the most power out of the subs. So please just give me a straight up answer without trying to explain the stuff cause i probably wont get it at all, not to sound demanding.

2)   just go from the + terminal on an amp to the red connector on one of the subs with a pretty thick speaker wire. Then take another wire and hook one end into that last red connector you just used and go to the other subs red connector. Do the same thing for the - amp connector and go to the black connectors on the subs. You will need to find an amp that is 1ohm stable since this is what they will be running at when you hook these subs up. If each sub can handle 500 watts of max power, then an amp putting out 800 watts at 1 ohm would be good. Just have to match subs power to amp power. - Stan

4)   Yes, a suitable amp would be one that outputs 800 watts RMS into 2 ohms. You could even go up to about 1,000 watts RMS and have a little headroom. And yes, a more efficient monoblock will usually be the best choice for power/cost per watt of output. The Kickers have a power "range" of from 50-400 watts RMS, and depending on how loud you want them to be, you can power them with an amp that outputs less than 800 watts RMS.



There's no law against a smaller amp and no rule that says you have to EXACTLY match the sub power handling rating to the amp power output. You just need an amp that has enough power to provide adequate bass so that you don't end up cranking the gain too high and making the amp clip, and causing distortion. On the other hand, you don't want an amp that outputs so much power that it overheats and burns up the sub voice coils. Not to mention that the more power an amp outputs, the more the amp costs.



The wiring configuration you want is voice coils in series, subs parallel like the diagram on this page: See "Using dual 2 ohm voice coils" about halfway down the page.

One amp that would be a good match would be an Alpine MRP-M1000. It outputs 1,000 watts RMS into 2 ohms.

Even less power, a little less in price, but the best amp, would be this JL Audio J2 500.1. It outputs 500 watts RMS into 2 ohms. But they are good, clean, and clear watts. That's 250 watts to each sub, still well within their RMS power handling range. And a JL amp can even make Kickers sound good, or at least make them sound their best.

Why Do factory make so much money?...  I live here in Metro Detroit and the average Factory worker makes 25 dollars an hour. They are the one's who tighten bolts etc. Most don't have a HS eduaction.I am trying to figure how why they would get paid so much
I got my college degree and eveyone laughed when I said I hoped I could find a job making 35K. They all laughed and said "Tough luck in this economy".

A similar worker in Oklahoma may be doing almost the same job for 14.00 an hour.



In the Metro Detroit area, they are probably under a local union. I believe unions have outlived their usefulness.



Modern labor laws now address most of the issues that caused the creation of unions in the first place. So union dues now pay union officials millions of dollars a year to protect good workers that may not need real protection and protect workers that don't pull their fair share. As well as driving up the cost of consumer products higher than they need to be. - Ken K

3)   with a budget like that i would look at 2 subs. the re audio xxx or the fi audio btl. i would lean towards the xxx, but get 2 18's in a huge ported box and either 2 big amps that put out 2000rms each, or 1 huge 4000rms amp. keep in mind you will need to upgrade your alternator with a build like this.

even the 15" would be good.

you can get the 18's for around $750-850 if you ebay. the 15's around $700.

how to remove static from volume knob?...  Old stereo equipment and when I turn the volume knob I get a disturbing amount of static from the speakers, at some volume settings the static is constant and over rides the music.

2)   get "contact cleaner " from any electronic shops.

pull knob then spray the turning knob.. allow to dry..

if trouble persist, you may have to replace the volume knob. - Gary

3)   you would have to spray the inside of the switch with TV tuner control cleaner and lubricant.

Turn off the unit, direct a spray into the volume switch pot, (through any opening you can locate) rotate the knob a number of times, let dry, Turn on the unit, and listen to the difference. - gleakit
