Answers1) TomTom
ALL gps's have to be updated from time to time as streets do change. I use my tomtom all the time and it talks even paided 120.00 brandsmart -
" ? "2) I have had good luck with Garmin, not too expensive, and lifetime updates for less than $150.00. The Nuvi itself was around $250.00. -
Cecil n3) garmin. the airplanes i rent usually have garmin gps system so i figure if their good enough for planes their good enough for cars. -
dr. wii4) Garmin
they have a wide variety from cheaper ones that are still good all the way up to $500 GPSs, which ever one you buy rather its cheap or expensive your getting more for what you pay for, the cheaper ones can run about $125 i think, i've never heard a bad thing about Garmin, i've seen reviews when i was looking for a GPS and none were bad about Garmin
i used to have a Garmin 255W and it was great, only got rid of it because i just never used it -

Question 3I am getting a pioneer 12 inch sub and 4 new speakers and head unit what do I need to hook it up?... im not technical so youll have to tell me in ways I can understand lol anyway Im also installing a new head unit I rly wanna make this work right so whatever I need to make it work please tell me thanks
Answers1) well, do you have a speaker box for your sub? Depending on your vehicle you may need a wiring kit, or you may be able to buy an adapter for your head unit. I'd recommend getting an Amp kit (for your sub) Electrical tape is a good thing to have, a mount kit for your vehicle helps too, but isn't really needed if you are handy. Oh and AA battery! Just one... what you do with that is when you are trying to figure out what wires go to which speaker you put one wire on one end and go through the wires till you hear a sound out of a speaker, process of elimination! -
Mustangsrock9992) If you could, please update what you are buying, like the model numbers of the Subwoofer, Speakers, and Head Unit you are buying, we can guide you better in what you need. However, from what you said, the only things you are missing are an Amplifier to power your Subwoofer, an Amplifier Wiring Kit, to supply power to your amplifier, and a Subwoofer Enclosure for your Subwoofer.
If you can message me the model number or a link of the subwoofer you have purchased, I can help you look for a nice amplifier to run your subwoofer. -
kaerfpl3) well depending on your car you may need a mounting bracket. Then how extensive your knowledge is its best to buy a wiring harness for your car. most models can be found in the auto section at walmart theyll help you get the right one. you didnt mention an amp for the subs or the speakers the sub will need an amp and enclosure. If you need an amp then youll need a wiring kit for that too wherever you buy your amp theyll get you set up with the proper wires. Crutchfield on a lot of models provides mounting hardware and wires. Hope that helps -

Question 4do i need an alternator?... i have a 4,000 watt boss amp. and i have a 2002 honda accord. before i go ahead and hook it up. will i need a bigger alternator? or a new battery?
Answers1) Alternator and battery should be bought at same time. But a good battery would be better to get first, just buy a decent capacitor to go with it. A 10 farad cap would do fine on it's own until you can afford alternator and battery. -
LyncHung2) 1. Boss amps are flea market amps, and have FAKE power numbers. Yep, totally made up. That amp only has 3 30 amp fuses. So, it cannot possibly make much more than 1200 watts RMS. More like 1000 i bet.
2. So, your "4000 watt" amp is more like an 1000 watt amp. So no, you do not need a high-output alternator, at all.
Trust me, a REAL 4000 watt amp would cost well over 500 dollars :)
Although, with any stereo, you should upgrade your big three wiring, as shown here.

Capacitors are useless, BTW. They only still sell them because newbs keep spreading numerous myths about them. -
odinsragess3) true. capacitors are a lie
you should be fine. worst comes just get a yellow top in the trunk and run a battery isolator to it.
thats what I did. and I am running 800 watts times 2 on a 90 amp alternator. -

Question 5I have a 2500x1 memphis amplifier class D?... when I turn my stereo system louder than what it is, and it hits the right bass the amp goes into protection mode, down the volume and come the bass hits. I don't know what I can do to solve this. please help me.
Answers1) Well what speaker are you using? There is an impedance conflict at work here. Maybe a capacitor is needed. Substandard wiring can do it, but I doubt it. -
The Eagle Keeper2) Im not sure if the memphis 2500 is 1 ohm stable, if it isnt it could be that your running your subs at 1 ohm or lower so it is going into protection. check to make sure you are running them at the right ohms that the amp is stable at. rockford fosgate as a woofer wiring wizard that may help on their site. -
d_monie33) if that is 2500 watts rms you will need serious electrical upgrades to run it. an H.O. alternator , a deep cycle battery and 'the big 3' upgrade are necessary to run that much power. -
